  1. Recently watched Man on Fire - Denzel Washington. Very good film, although the ending lets it down slightly ( i like happier endings)....but 95% of the film is awesome. 8.8/10
  2. you dont yet....but for £8 and 30 mins of your time it'll certainly prevent you from getting them........all the trim out, carpets up, underlay up to dry out, carpet needed to dry out, then refit everything etc.... prevention is better than the cure.... Cheers Abdul. :salute:
  3. hi and welcome back..... i know i probably shouldnt but i cant stop looking back at your first rado, i know its proper 90's styling but i love it.... change the rear lights, lose the exhaust and huge rear spoiler and that would look ace now....
  4. Karl, i will do, once its road legal you wont be getting me out of it trust me, i'll pop over to show ya. Kempy. The seal basically needs replacing because water passes this area on its way to the wing drain, if its all brittle then water can get in and down past your heater blower right into your footwell....nice wet carpets. I would recommend that if you havent replaced that seal in the last 3-5 years then i would do it, only costs about £8 in bits from vw. I only needed 3 clips and clip inserts not the 5 stated in the wiki. I have 2 clips and clip inserts left over if anybody if anybody wants them, you'd only need another 1 from vw along with the seal then....let me know and i can pop them in the post.
  5. Wow......just wow... Perfection at its best. Well done...
  6. Whats a skett???? Well today it was dry so i thought i would crack on and change the foliage seal in the scuttle tray. Stripped it down and was confronted with a bit of a mess You can see how the old seal had just about had it, it was really brittle... If like me you find that the previous owner never bothered to replace the broken clips with new ones and just used sealent to fix it on then you'll have to remove the old clips before you can fit new ones, to do this push the centre of the clip down then you can pull it out with some pliers I then cleaned up the area and fitted new clips like so..once in this position just push down the centre to secure in place. I then cleaned the grill and fitted the new seal. While it was off i thought i would fit some gauze like fabric to act as a filter as there isnt any filter before the blower. I just cable tied this in to prevent it from coming loose. I then refitted the grill and fixed it in position with the clip like so.... As the haynes dictates, refitting is the reverse.....all done. After this i had enough time to fix my radiator properly as i still hadnt done that since the rebuild, one less thing to do. I can now clean my carpets and refit those when i get a dry day.
  7. Excellent info there David. Am i right in thinking that the gears/cogs on the unit itself dont break all that often, its more the gears and cogs in the actual controls? Think a definite clean up/lube of all parts is on the cards for me. Is it a dash out job to get this unit out, or can it be dropped out from the bottom of the dash?
  8. This is why i wanna see it...... Saw Salt last night......a good action film, miss jolie is mighty fine in it, several disguises but looking hot every time. i'd give it 8.5/10

  11. i've been offered one from a mk3 gti 8v that i can rebuild off the car and then fit once all nice shiney new parts are attached...anyone now if that'll fit my vr6....anyone with access to etka check the part no's...cheers.
  12. Do the mk3 golf dials and heather box work in the same way as the rado dials and heater box then?? Would this be a viable swap....obviously using the bits from the mk3 dials to get your rado dials working, or fabricating the mk3 dials to fit into the rado dash somehow???
  13. Cheers, its been a long time coming so its nice to finally get it down.... Still lots to do but hopefully get it road legal around the start of April......fingers crossed.
  14. Pictures as promised.... Much better i think you'll agree. Will need to play around with the height once its all road legal, need to see if i can get off my drive yet too  but i love it now.....how it should be sitting.
  15. Lucky you......... My perfect driveway there.....
  16. Well......another update a few months on.... This week the rest of my suspension bits arrived so today i set about renewing... ...New track rod ends ...New drop links ...New ball joints ...New wishbones and bushes ...New coilovers ...New top mounts ...New rear top mounts All this in the rain.....started raining a couple of hours in and i didnt want to stop. I'll get some photo's 2moro in the light, but it now sits much lower so i am one happy chappy. Although i do need a bit of welding now as the jack went through one of the jacking points.....doh... more work for the mot... I have also picked up a new foiliage seal and relevant clips so one evening this week (a dry evening) i'm gonna replace that. I'll then beable to clean my carpet and put that back nice and dry and staying that way now hopefuly.
  17. I think potholes on minor roads is to be expected and should be fixed as soon as possible, but potholes on motorways is simply unacceptable! It's lethal and they should be fixed immediately  Use our goddam road tax to fix the goddam roads! Ditto....doesnt bear thinking about.
  18. I was thinking the exact same thing...at least market it as a 3 door....
  19. Finally saw The Dark Knight the other day.......very good film, think i'll benefit from watching it a second time......still awesome...i give it 8.7/10. Heath Ledger's performance was fantastic.
  20. would love an 8v as a daily, slightly jealous ha ha. Good find though an i'm sure it'll look smart in next to no time...
  21. Right, last night i decided to flush out the coolant and replace with proper mix of g12 plus water, it currently only had water in after the rebuild. I was getting a bit worried as the frosty icy weather seems to be coming now. I also replaced one of the auto coolant hoses for a manual one so alls good now. Took me about 2 hours in the dark and cold, lots of swearing due to difficult to reach spring clips etc etc....but got there in the end. (but now have a bit of rust in my eye...ow) Ran car up to temp to try and remove any air locks......and did notice once i turned the car off my fans seemed to remain on permanently.......after about 10 mins i got concerned and pulled the loom going to the fan to turn them off. Two questions, if i just ran it up to temp on my drive then turned it off, how long should the fans stay on for after? Secondly, if they are remaining on permanently what could be the cause of this? Cheers all.
  22. must say, if that rado is looking pretty sorry for itself then theres no hope for my vr...... rado + guns......proper gangsta...
