  1. Its the right right size trigger.......I just seem to have had a mental block on how to upload it.... H8RRA - thanks for the pic, I have managed to release it by pulling on the cable through the grille, i think it has snapped near to where the hande is in the cockpit.
  2. Yep.....brute force was the trick. I suppose i was just being gentle with my baby.....I was forgetting that the blokes last night probably wern't going for that option! Ive plugged the alarm back in and the locking and siren are working again. Ive another wire that they've cut, not sure what it is, doesnt seem to affect the alarm. Ive got a pic but cant post it up....i used to be able to....am I having a mental block or has the site changed? :?:
  3. Right, ive got it jacked up and going at those pins from underneath seems a no-go as there is too much crap in the way...... I cant reach them from the sides either as they seem to be behind the headlights. The only option seems to be yanking the bowden cable......I have tried yanking pretty hard, but probably not as hard as the theiving scum that were yanking on it last night. Is brute force the way? :?
  4. Thanks Chrishill.....just called your namesakes (almost) at Churchill insurance.... Apparently they would be prepared to pay out if i can send the proof of having the alarm / immobiliser which is a supprise to say the least! :) Unfortunately they want 250 quid excess plus I'd loose my 45% no claims which would probably be another 4-500 quid a year for the next 2 years...... so I'm pretty much back to square 1........ Dan :(
  5. Right then.....I have put this onto general car chat as it covers a magnitude of problems...... Last night someone has tried to break into / steal my Corrado :( They appear to have gone in through the front grille and popped the bonnet. The wires to the alarm have then been cut / unplugged Both door handles are broken. The passenger side one just in the traditional way - it pulls out but doesnt catch. The passenger one has been prised off with a screwdriver and was laying in the road :( I have gone in through the boot and initially managed to open the bonnet for a look, this is how i know about the alarm cables. Stupidly i let the bonnet shut and now i cant get in. Needless to say it wont start due to the wires being cut, first thing I wanted to do was attempt to reconnect them just to see if i can move the car. I have used the search and looked at a few threads about bonnet release. My drivers side pin is released, the passenger side one is stuck. looking at this : http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... et+release I have found the bowden cable , I have tried pulling it fairly hard but it doesnt seem to do anything. Do i need to split the cable to reveal a central wire and pull this to release the passenger side pin???? I have aso heard of a method from underneath of twisting the L shape rods visible in the photo in the thread i posted.....does this work? Problem No 2: I have not sent them my Thatcham certs as they are missing, although i do have a receipt for the instasllation. Do you think i have any chance of a payout if i send them what i have of my alarm info after the event....anyone have experience on this......? I havent even bothered ringing them yet as I think i've got no chance....does anyone have any stories of encouragement......? Also the Cnuts appear to have stolen my front grill complete with G60 badges....... Cheers, Dan
  6. Hello everyone, My Oil Pressure light has just flashed a couple of times on a long journey. Both times I was doing about 80ish and had just lifted off the throttle to slow for junctions when the beeper and light flashed for 4 or 5 seconds. Pretty much as soon as it started it stopped again, Oil temp was about 116. Im running Synta Silver which was replaced a month ago along with the filter. The level is to the top of the hatched area on the dipstick and hasnt dropped in a month....which is unusual in itself. I am presuming there isnt an actual Oil pressure problem as I continued for another 60 miles and the Charger hasnt blown up  has anyone else had any similar symptoms...as i said it seemed to only happen for short periods when lifting off the throttle when the engine had been under load for several miles constantly. Cheers Dan
  7. The first car has a banner saying "super silouhette" My next door neighborough used to race a Morris Minor in this class. As I rememeber the basic concept was that the side profile of the car had to be identical to the production model but as far as the width and engine modifications went you had a free reign..... The car looked exactly like those....but a moggy shell instead!
  8. He's my HGV driver so its his job to drive around all day..... I think young hoodlums racing around in their souped up motors while he's trying to work is one of the things that pisses him off the most
  9. Thats the reason I was late, I was giving one of the lads a lift. He'd never been in the car before and wasn't too interested in my Corrado Racing......I think it might be the last time he accepts a lift... Anyway the car looked great, I will keep my eyes peeled if I ever oversleep....
  10. That was me, I came up behind you at Cheadle Hulme Sainsburys and had to weave through the lanes a little to catch you up....I thought I recognised the pictures from the forum website....although the door looked a little different.. Do you go that way a lot, thats my way to work but I was a bit late today....... Also....were you giving it 100% up the slip road.....I would of expected to be made to feel much slower than that.... Dan
  11. As for insurance.....you can take this out with someone off the internet and then cancel it. I did this with tesco and got all my money back, but you are covered instantly from teking the policy out....apparently you have two weeks to cancel. Drive it back...and if you dont crash cancel the policy while you fix it up.
  12. My corrado will probably be out the door in the new year and this is all sounding very tempting......can i ask a boring question...do the seats fold down on the 200sx and what is the boot space like??!! The hatchback on the corrado is very useful!
  13. There cant be too many G60's down in that neck of the woods. I saw a blue one in Wadebridge this summer....very distinctive bacause they had taken the supercharged badge off the back and re-formed it to read "charged up" - a nice touch I thought!
  14. Im Deffinitely hoping my missus gets one...Im sure those Crazy Japanese tuners must make something for that turbo.... Apparently the rest of the equipment is standard Micra stuff so maintainace is fairly cheap. We had a sit in one but she didnt fancy a test drive in case she couldnt control her credit card....
  15. The quotes for a new Head Gasket are all coming in at over a grand....Dont go anywhere near an MGF!!! My girlfriend wants a Nissan Fagaro, have you seen these? Its a 1.0 Turbo retro Job from Japan. Im not too sure about the looks, but the Leather interior is supurb... Theres normally a few on Ebay.
  16. I wish I had read this a few months back...... My sister just brought an MGF....26,000 Miles.....Head gasket gone....no warranty due to them going bump. I'd steer clear....a nice cheap MX5 would be a much better choice. I find with women that you just have to suggest the same car in a different colour or with a different body kit and suddenly they are loving a car that they said they wouldnt touch with a bargepole the day before....if only they were this unobservant when I'm getting caught checking her mates out....
  17. Where abouts in Didsbury Renshaw? I was driving past Pars Wood Cinema at about 7.45 pm and I'm Green. Dan
  18. Someone in a (J or K i think...?) Red Corrado let me out onto the A50 in Stoke on Friday night in the middle of a traffic jam. I gave 'em a good wave....it was very appreciated! Also have just seen a white 16v parked in Fallowfield near my place....and a Blue Kreg Vr6 on friday night in the carpark of the Black Horse pub, Houghton Leicester......Ive been spotting them everywhere!! Dan
  19. I have just fitted (well Gav did) a 68mm Pulley to my G60 to replace the blown one, this has had a massive effect on the oil temperature. I used to see 104-110 C around town, 110-114 C at motorway speeds and up to 120 if really booting it. Now I am looking at 110-114 C around town and 118-124 C on the motorway. Havent dared boot it yet...well, not for long periods.... I think I am going to have to go for a Mocal as well when I have a bit of cash. I think the above posters need to consider what mods they have done...and see if there is a pattern with oil temp.
  20. This may be a stupid thing to say......but if its dissipating 10mpg's worth of energy then somethings getting hot....thats a lot of power wasted. If it is through a wheel bearing it would be getting foooking hot,,,,next time you go for a drive have a look. (dont touch the wheel...it mite be proper hot) just piss on the alloy or something and see how hot it seems..... if the alloy (not the disk) steams then problem solved....
  21. Someone help... I'n listening Today i was breaking and found she wasnt slowing. Dipped the clutch and the engine was red-lining, had to turn ignition off before it blew. Sounds a similar problem...
  22. The German Blower........This is turning into a right saga......It should of came today but didnt. Im moving house on Sunday and am now going to have to tow the bloody thing off the drive to the new house. I am trying to get a tracking number of the guy so that I can at least have an idea when its going to arrive so that I dont book any more days off work for no reason!
  23. On a similar vein......Would the position of the oil line be likely to enable it to carry bits of broken charger into the engine? My main concern on this front was particles getting blown into the engine through the inlet Manifold, now I'm concerned about Oil..... As you may know, I accidentally drove it 30 miles home at 90mph on the motorway so some of the metal was ground up pretty good!!
  24. Welcome to the club OvalTheMoon. I havent actually got mine running yet, but received lots of usefull advice when this happened to me last week. See my thread below http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28826 I have purchased a reconditioned charger from some german chaps on ebay. I will let everyone know if its any cop when it arrives. Comes with a 12 month guarentee at least.....let me know if you want one, might be able to negotiate a discount....! the guy seems quite up for throwing in freebies....
  25. I have owned a 2.0 16v for a year and a G60 for 2 years. Before last week I would of said that there was no comparrison.....until the charger blew..... A 16 V is likely to be in nicer condition due to its age and the interior switches etc are no doubt better designed. The coulors available on the later cars also seem to be more varied. The problem is that you need to thrash the bollocks off it to get anywhere. While they may return reasonable MPG while motorway cruising, if your actually wanting to drive the way the car was designed your looking at mid teens (MPG not girls!). When I got my G60 home I couldnt believe it, it may have been 2 years older and have done 70,000 more miles than the valver, but it felt brand new in comparrison. The power was on tap from low revs and the 20 odd BHP difference reported in the official stats doesnt really do it justice. I must admit the 500 quid bill from jabba for a charger rebuild withing the first month of ownership was a bit of a bind. But I think the 1300 quid or so the charger has cost me in 2 years is almost certainly worth the extra over the valver. I have probably saved 1000 quid alone in reduced petrol bills. Anyway, in conclusion the 16v is good for all things hairdresser.....but if you want some fun (which is surely what we drive the cars for) then go for a G60.... Dan
