My Missus wants one of these too!! We have looked at lots of adverts and a couple in the flesh. It seems that leaks from the silly 1/2 convertible roof thingy are quite common, causing the very light colour fabric roof lining to discolour / go mouldy. Also the knobs inside are all chromed plasticy things and seem to have fallen off a lot of the time. The CD/stereo is a multi changer and a specific design to the car, cant just slot a kenwood in there if it goes wrong. Any problems and its hello Mr Nissan!! They were only produced in Japan, (and only in limited numbers out there) so any in this country are Imports. As such I couldnt make much sense of the service history. The best coulour I have seen is pink, but not many of these around so very expensive, 5K+ You seem to be able to get a green or grey one for 3k+

jackroo, Where abouts in Hinkley? Might have to go down there for a giggle....perhaps in my mums Cab...... What Corrado do you have? I looked at quite a few in Hinkley last time I was looking for one.

There is a rubber O Ring in the screw lid of the coolant header tank. If this has been forced up you may get these symptoms. Even I can fix that one....and I'm crap

Hello Chaps, Got my MOT next week I bet it fails on more than that little lot......in fact Im willing to bet the cost of our respective repairs that mine will be worse news.......any takers.. Trig - you get home ok?

My council garage got broken into... again.
Pickard1 replied to dub envy's topic in General Car Chat
Deffinitely Pikies that mate - what with the copper being taken. They got busted breaking into my factory at the weekend because we have Nickel - even more expensive!! Ive a degree in metallurgy but my knowlege of superalloys is nothing compared to some of the stuff you can learn in the average caravan  Time for a new garage, once they know theres stuff to be had they will keep coming back, and its not even worth considering trying to catch em....not unless you fancy a beating for your troubles  -
I spotted this parked up at the bottom of Troon way in Leicester....I know sex sells.....but to ruin a corrado....I presume it doesnt belong to anyone on here....?
-
Has it had the supercharger seen to recently? Without this anyone off here will be trying to knock 350 quid off straight the way for a refurb... If it hasnt then id be very worried with that milage
-
200...250....300 quid depending on which programme you go for. The more you pays the more/faster you drive. You mcould also pay to do extra laps in some other cars....I didnt....but have been regretting it ever since. My advice: deffinitely pay the extra 20 quid!

I did exactly the same day at prestwold hall a couple of years back. It was a Mk 2 Golf Gti back then as the practise car...they seem to have downgraded since then...... I found the instructors to be equally Mardy (thats Leicester speak). The most annoying bit was that you wern't allowed to have your 'fast lap' with the instructor until after you had driven all your laps in the Ferraris. The reason for this being that it confirms what I was pointing out to the instructor for all of my laps - the breaking points are set way to cautiously. Anyway after a heavy summertime shower and on my last lap in the F355 I decided to show the instructor how to kick the tail out......nailed it in second out of a corner expecting it to be a bit like a go-cart.......the result was a 720 degree spin and a severe telling off  Im still laughing about that now    At the end of the day I thought the best car I drove was the old skool 80's Magnum jobby. No faffy paddle gearbox and a harsh ride and stiff steering....maybe it just reminded me of the corrado :D

Insurance: given me a rubbish offer: Finally resolved.
Pickard1 replied to Taggart's topic in General Car Chat
I have had to haggle with an insurance company in the past and I was supprised how easily they upped the offer. They must be expecting the first one to be rejected. I would remove any mention of the car going wrong / needing to be repaired. Just state that the car was in pristine condition, fully serviced with none of the well known faults. Include auto trader ads of cars in similar condition, it may also be worth pointing out how difficult it will be to find one in this condition and the travelling that will be involved. As for getting any money for the work on the engine I think the returns for this will be minimal. How many times do you see Corrado's, golfs, cossies etc. for sale that have had 5, 10, 15k spent on the engine only for the car to be sale for only a couple of grand above what a regular one would cost.....however by the same token it should be possible to pick up a corrado whose owner has already spent a load on the engine for less than buying the car then having the work done. Make sure you take them for all they are worth.....in my opinion Insurance companies are the lowest of the low!!! :x -
Something like this? http://etka.auto2.ru/vw/COR/1991/76/49/841543/

Corrado Spotting Was it you [Archive March 06]
Pickard1 replied to biggrim's topic in General Car Chat
I went to the Millenuium stadium yesterday. There was a blue old style valver parked on the River Taff enbankment opposite the Stadium. Had a nice dent in the passenger door....just like mine! -
We did this after the s/c said goodnight.... You only need to draw the bumper forward about 5cm just to allow access. Apparently if you pull it much further the brackets will come out of their mountings and it will drop off and its quite heavy. :!:

Checked against the real thing - Part numbers seem correct. :D
-
I hope they are, I just used it to order something from the dealers......still, whatever I brought it has only cost me 38p....

Bit of an update and some new questions here..... I have discovered the cause of the bonnet not opening, they seem to have broken a clip on the release mechanism. Does this mean a whole new cable? I cant see any way of taking the clip off the cable to reattach a new one to the lever mechanism. Also the ABS sensor on the previous page, I have been told that this connects direct into the hub and I need to fit a whole new one. Is this right? On a positive note I have had a new Cat 1 alarm fitted, have brought some passat handles (x4  ) and have found somewhere that can respray and repair the doors. Cheers, Dan

It looks white to me, and which three coulors of corrado have the lowest resale value.....Red, White, yellow...... :-P

Corrado Spotting! Was it you? [Archive February 06]
Pickard1 replied to mistrall's topic in General Car Chat
I saw a old Red Valver travelling down the main street of southport (dunno what its called) yesterday, it looked very tidy for its age. Today I saw a green (possible Dragon Green) Vr6 between Troon Way and Tescos in Leicester. The driver returned the wave. -
I have just brought a cooler as well although havent fitted it. The concern that I have is what happens if the thermostat plate fails? Does it have a failsafe system? I am worried that the oil could stop flowing through the cooler but at the same time not have the original system to cool it and end up getting very hot very fast..... Does anyone know about this?

Could the battery be to blame for no start even if it cranks
Pickard1 replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
How much petrol was in it? -
Always better to restart an old thread than start a new one..... I have 2 small quastions on this..... 1) Do the repair kits come with new handles or do you use the old handle? 2) What year passats are we talking about....presumably mid 90's but I just had a very confusing conversation with the local breakers yard..... does anyone know the start and finish year?

Is PG block the strongest block that vw has ever made ?

Wasnt that the BMW turbo F1 engine....? -
Thanks everyone....Have got to go to work now. I think im deffinitely going to get the work done myself as it is now drivable. Im going to take it back to my mum and dads and borrow my dads Rover 220 Turbo :D for the week! Does anyone know a friendly (cheapish) bodyshop in Leicester who will be able to replace fecked door handles and respra a few little scratches? Then I'm off to see Gav for a complete new alarm system!!
-
Trigger - Thanks for that! Dave - you sure....? Do you think the wire can just be spliced back together or does it consist of several wires? Dan
-
I have sent my pic to Trigger...... It shows the back of the engine bay drivers side. To the right hand side you can see the brake fluid reservoir. In the center is my alarm siren attached to the front suspension strut. Positioned at the top of my suspension strut is the wire in question.......is this a standard G60 thing or is it something to do with the many alarms and immobilisers that have been fitted to this car......just a bit worried thay have cut the abs off or something....
