    Porsche Cups

These are the Porsche Cups that came with my car. As you can see the original stud holes have been filled and redrilled although by the finish it looks like they have been drilled from blanks. I told a guy at a garage i'd seen other VW's with them on without the need for drilling and he told me that every single model of Porsche had wheels designed for it. I presume the car that these came off had mammoth hubs and therefore big brakes :) He reckons theyre safe which was my first concern. Any ideas what is going on, how this is done? If anyone wants them i will sell them. They have 2 new Falken 215/40/17's i think and 2 worn Toyo Proxes :) in the same size. I dont know the price cos i dont know how much someone woould pay for butchered looking wheels Please someone solve this mystery
  2. I was 0,1,2 in 1980/1/2 so i cant really remember when Rubix cube was released but i was in that whole 80's era as a young fella. Lets hope it doesnt come back to haunt us, noone really wants to relive the 80's dress sense :)
  3. I remember all that and im 23!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was only the 80's. How bout the 70's he'll love all that :)

    Brown goop

So how much would it cost for all the mounts? Fitted? (not by VW dealer) How about the Vibratecs front one? Theyre supposed to be good arnt they? Or will the standard one do the job? It has been like that since i bought it bout 10k miles ago with 65k on the clock :) so could it damage other things? P.S thats a poor representation of my car, heres a nicer one

    Brown goop

This is the goop that is causing all the mess. I think it may be a mount, as you can see its definatley coming from the top and not sprayed on by the gearbox etc. Hope this helps. Thanks guys
  6. Well im 23 and have owned and this is no lie: Citroen AX GT 500 Golf MK1 1100 Formele E MK2 8v GTI Audi GT coupe 5 Turbo Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 Corrado VR6 And still have 5 years no claims & 6 points to match
  7. What is VAG-COM? A diagnostic on the engine management? Can this only be carried out at a VAG? I chose the VR6 cos whenever you see a rolling road shoot out they tend to keep all of their standard bhp which is nice. Then you see extremely modded cars actuslly lose power so im always suspect of modded power claims. I'd rather have a fast car to start with

    Brown goop

I know of the reservoir for the power steering, its the long plastic one but thats not it. The thing im talking about is a metal mounting that comes off the back of the gearbox literally directly under the water bottle. If your looking from the front of the car its the thick solid metal coke can behind the gearbox but closer to the ground
  11. I couldnt overtake my mate up to about 90mph (private road) the other day and hes started throwing round sheep in wolfs clothing type comments. His car is a standard oak green 16v mk2 golf that feels slow to be a passenger in but obviously not. My 95 VR6 was struggling to overtake. My car runs smoothly doesnt feel like it has any losses in power and can keep up with UK spec Imprezas easily. Also my car feels like a train after 4000rpm. Whats going on??????!!!!! My point being that a fast car feels faster than a slower car but in the real world the difference is minimal. The only car to REALLY got away from me is an EVO 6 which i presume was modded cos it almost went out of sight. What can i do to get my car to do this i.e sub 13 qtrs or are VW's too heavy? Ive looked at Z-engineering supercharger kits but then again im not gonna shave whole seconds off the 0-60 time for £2500!! And thats supposed to be cheap power!!! It would be cheaper to dare i say it pex for a 280bhp import Subaru STI which is equally reliable eventhough the history is grey :?
  12. I had this problem although my radiator fan packed in as well!!!!!!!!!! Turned out to be a relay and a cheap fix

    Brown goop

There is a coke can shaped mounting or something directly underneath the water bottle on my 95 VR6 with sticky brown goop oozing out the top. It doesnt seem to have any moving parts so i presume its a mounting but thse cars are much more complicated than i first thought. At first i thought the water bottle was dribbling on top of it but its certainly not water. Does anyone know what this is and why is it dribbling crap all over my sub frame making the whole thing look untidy :(

    Wheel alignment

Ess Three you may have something. The standard tyres have circular swirl like marks on the outside edges. Could this be tyre scrub? There are no chunks missing but if the tyres arnt very sticky that may not happen or am i wrong?

    Wheel alignment

Tramlining isnt huge, im just very fussy when it comes to a cormftable ride. Just have to fight it to handle smoothly sometimes but its quite mild. The guy that did the tracking the second time was a VW specialist who seems to know everything and has been in the trade for years. The place is called Volksentre (correct spelling) and is up North in Blyth near Newcastle, he also works for peanuts (not literally) which is nice  As you say i might have to visit my VW dealer although their hourly rate (100 quid an hour) puts me off a bit. Need to get it serviced now, they quoted 180 quid although im scared in case they come back with a bill for three figures  . Any experience of dealers adding on money for 'critical repairs'? And do you think a VAG sarvice hstory is that critical come resale time? Do they use special diagnostics that other garages wont be able to do? It already has 2 blemishes on the recored i.e non VAG services.
  16. Hi again, My corrado (95 VR6) has been lowered using Ebiach springs only. As far as i know the bushes/shockers etc are standard. It has 77000 on the clock and full VAG service history. My problem is that i had some Porsche cup alloys on the car and the tyres were wearing on the inside. I thought it was the camber or the tracking. I decided to get the tracking done but left the camber alone as i planned to put the old speedlines on again. The guy at the garage adjusted the tracking to what was almost the end of the adjustment on the track rod end. This made me suspicious as the steering was all over the place from that day on. i.e when i steered the car round a bend it 'pulled' round the corner etc I put the speedlines on then took it in for a full track and camber wheel alignment at a different garage (about a month had passed). He then claimed that the wheels were all over the place as he put it, both the tracking and camber. Then from that day the tyres wore on the inside and outside!!!! :( Having lost faith in the steering of my car i cant tell whether the highish torque of the engine can put the steering out or the springs are somehow to blame. Im also not sure whether the latest 'tramlining' over pot holes is due to the Ebiach springs or this problem. Any suggestions how i can have faith restored in my steering????????
  17. Wow i walked away from the PC thinking i wouldnt get a reply till the next day and then came back to 5! Thanks alot its exactly what i wanted to hear. As long as its not broken, just seems strange that VW didnt update the hardware with the facelift in 92. Must have been too expensive
  18. Hi everyone i have loads of q's and was wondering if you could help with this first one. Being the only person i know with a Corrado im not sure whether this is a problem or normal. I have a black 95 N reg Corrado VR6 which ive had just over a year now. When locking or unlocking the doors using the key and what i believe to be the original central locking system, it takes a few moments for the doors to open. When opening and locking the doors too quickly the system simply doesnt respond at all. If for example i turn the key the wrong way to open and then try to open the correct way, it takes a few attempts for it to open. Also is it normal that only one electric window will go up at a time!!? Would be grateful for any response :)
