Very difficult to get decent bhp cheaply. morpheus20170, Those things you have listed will make your car run more efficiently and smoothly but you may get only a few bhp for your money hardly noticable. Nitrous would be the best route for price (£500 kit) and pure acceleration from what ive heard but if your going down the cams, flowed head, chip route once added together could get expensive and forced induction even more expensive. Dunno really

 i thought mine was good at 77.5k bought with 66k How many miles when you bought it?
-
Checked the brake fliud a few months back and the pot was nearly empty  so i filled it up. Then i put new pads on all round as the originals were nearly down to metal and the fluid almost overflowed so i worked out where the fluid had gone  i.e once the pistons were pushed back in the fluid went back up. When the fluid was low could this have let in air effecting the performance of the clutch. Sounds like it needs bleeding but how?
-
Where is the master/slave cylinder? Where do i check? Where is the fluid level? And how do i bleed it? Sorry for all the q's

I really hate a less then perfect box  . What i mean is when changing gear as fast as i can there is some resistance getting into gear (only when i really go for it), sometimes i have to put it back into neutral and try again especially in 1st. For a super slick change i have to change slower. Is it supposed to be like this? It doesnt feel broken and the car has only done 77k on an 95N VR6. The clutch bite is near the floor as well. So far from threads ive seen that i need to bleed the hydraulic clutch, change the g box oil and maybe change the engine mounts (the rear g box mount is leaking a bit of oil). P.S i know nothing bout g boxes so please be explicit
-
rubbish reliability at ridiculous prices :D
-
Could be the solenoid thats broken & the whirring is the starter not engaged on the flywheel
-
I saw a VR6 shoot out and the newer Golf VR6 highlines have a different ECU setup. 2 cars, both highlines gave 190bhp. It was either PVW or The Golf
-
Thats up to maybe 4000 rpm before changing and from cold oil ie not started that day. If a flog it all the way home maybe 98 degrees
-
Speaking of oil temp, how long should it take to get up to temp?????? Mine takes about 5-6 miles to get to 90 degrees

oh mi god everything is Karmann!!

   Your kidding! How did he fix it after all that!? That would be very very bad. Please someone out there must have good news for me, this is depressing

P.S VW dealer has officially denied responsibility as the plugs were not changed or even looked at. Glad they did such a detailed service
-
Thanks guys the opinions are appreciated. I have spoken to another VW specialist who reckons he would rather leave the head on as well and he has done this with beetles for years (although the flat four configuration means that swarf will probly blow out). He also reckons that by putting enough grease on the tool then very little swarf will get in the chamber. Furthermore the piston liner is hard steel wheras the filings will be aluminium, will this cause much damage? He says he can see if there are any filing left in after trying to blow them out. How would he do this :? ?? All i want is someone with a definate answer. How nuch to remove and refit the head? How much for the head gasket etc?

My "VW SIGN" (Centre roundel) on the rear has signs of wear (white plastic underneath) 'If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen' :? yeah right refund me for all my niggly problems then!
-
ok i think i can stomach 40 quid for the repair if they deny responsibility. The real question then is whether a repair without taking the head off will be ok or could it cause other problems?
-
Si B, Sorry i meant to say three weeks. Did they offer to fix it for free? I personally think that 3 weeks after a service if a spark plug comes flying out then they should take responsibility. It is very unlikey in my opinion that my plug worked its way loose and shot out if it had been torqued up 3 weeks prior
-
Turns out that the guy i went to see today about my problem does the helicoils for the VW garage in question  . He reckons £40 to drill and then fit the coil. My biggest concern is that he reckons the whole lot can be done without removing the head and let the rubbish just blow out. Ive seen a cylinder from my dads bike after something got trapped inside and the valves and piston etc had loads of little dents in like machine gun fire :2gunfire: Will this happen on my car? Dont want to get a new engine because of a spark plug!
-
3 days, maybe, but 3 months for a service-related problem to occur is quite a while! You may find they say it has nothing to do with the service and it was just coincidence. sorry meant to say 3 weeks  . Was serviced on 10/07/03 (from reciepr) and the plug blew out toady 3/08/03 so 25 days
-
Thanks funky Its a VR6 and the plugs were not changed but could they have checked them and retightened them? What about aluminium filings the chamber? Wont the head need to come off? Seems a bit of a coincidence that it was serviced 3 months before the plug jumppeed out

Darren i think people are getting a bit lost. From what i can fathom you mean: If 5 stud get disks for the leon and the calipers for the ibiza (which include pads) If 4 stud get disks and calipers for the ibiza
