My car is in today getting a service at a VAG and its setting me back £120 then wheel alignment £80 and engine diagnostic to check for camshaft sensor 1/2-1hr labour @ £48 /hour Does that sound right? Anyone had astronomical bills from dealers/horror stories etc?

This little slit appeared around my radio aerial the other day. Is the aerial only held on by this little flange? If so its about to fall off Can i remove the aerial mount without removing the roof lining on the inside? How easy is it? Anyone had this prob? I have unscrewed the aerial as a precaution to stop wind etc taking it off and half my paintwork Sorry my camera is poo. Cant afford a new one cos my car costs so much :cry:

Mine is fixed as well!!!! :D :D Took the carbon brushes off fiddled with the motor for a bit and put it back in and it WORKED! Think the springs holding the brushes on the motor weren't transmitting enough force to push the brushes onto the armature. Sorry for taking over your forum a bit Duncan but i thought the advice could be for you as well

Is it WRX or STI cos theyre lightning quick!? Can keep up with an Impreza 2000 through the gears as ive proved with my standard c VR6 but that doesnt speak for all Impreza's i suppose. My Renault 5 turbo felt faster than my c but it was the torque wave of the turbo from 3000rpm on that convinced me. Did drive an Impreza but it was a test drive and didnt take it over 4000rpm :( . I'd have to drive both to find out though. Ian maybe you could lend us your Impreza for the day and we could find out for ourselves :D :D

Thanks for the time you spent on all that sc16v you deserve some stars for your advice! Pa took his mutimeter with him :mad: so i bought i cheapie draper one for £15 from Motor World. Right: 1) Removed the shelf/cover. 2) Got a multiplug with 5 male bullet connections from the motor. 3) Got one earth (brown) and each time i select a speed on the dash switch one of the other 4 bullet connectors becomes live with 12.5V approx. 4) Have removed the metal plate/res pack from the side of the motor with the 5 female connectors. 5) On the other side there were 2 wires (one red one black) with spade connectors holding them onto the res pack. 6) Got 12.5V approx from those 2 spades as well!!!! So my motor is broken ok? Can i fix it? The fan piece looks well held on with a washer that crimps onto the armature. On the other side there is a plug and now a hole where the res pack was, other than that it is completley sealed. The part no is 536 819 021. Is this the same as the G60 anyone? More importantly is it the same as the MK3 golf? Will i be able to put my 4 speed res pack on the Mk3 item? Thanks again Rory

The probes tyres are enourmous tho! The only good bit. My mate liked the pop-up headlamps :pukeleft: P robe seats with zip cover removal and carpet on the backs. Does this say anything bout the owner? Nuff said :)

That is quick. I was going from Top Gear Group Test, Celica 2.0 vs Probe v6 vs Corrado VR6 from 1994 where they quote the c managing 7.3 to 60 and they go on to nock VW's figures!!!! Dunno whether the c is the same but alot of cars produce alot of sound deadening in the cat. Can someone back me up or am i just speaking rubbish again? My mate had a certain coupe lets call it coupe 'x' for now and the exhaust had a dirty great hole in it just before the gases entered the backbox. There was no noise at all. Anyway he got a full stainless system and it was still quiet. For noise alone maybe a cat bypass maybe the way to go if its not for performance gains.

The fooker doesnt work at all sc16v my girlfriend turned it on on a lovely summers day (the other day to be precise) and it worked. I had music on at the time so couldnt hear it running. Turned the music off, went to switch my fan on (forgot she had turned it on) and low and behlod the little fella pulled a swift one and stopped workin on me :( :( . Ive checked all the fuses and no joy. Didnt realise it was so easy to get at or i'd have done it at the wend. So from what you said i have to: I'll nick my old mans multitester while hes out of the country. So sc16v imagine im a monkey and know nothing what do i do with my tester? Set it to 12v DC then what? Will i knacker pa's tester if i just start touching wires with it? Which ones do i touch? Do i just look for a live wire going to the motor if not the motor is sh**ged?

Think the 0-60 time of the c is debatable having read old reviews of magazines trying to replicate the time quoted by VW. But i'll go along with it if it means beating the Cally boys :)

sc16v, & funky, Perfect thanks T Its just that the car has a scratch on the door and a scratch on the rear qtr, (down to the primer) cos some little b***ard keyed it :mad: !!! Theres no dent and its bout 3 inches long. The guy said the whole door had to be done but im not sure. He also looked puzzeled when i asked bout overspray, which didnt fill me with confidence. All i know is that i dont want ANY overspray on rubber etc or rust ANYWHERE

Did i read that right £2500 of paintwork and dents??!!! Must be a top notch job. I got quoted £280 for the whole drivers side on my black c. Am i to assume that my paint job will be cr*p? There seems to be huge variation in price for paintwork. I have abolutley no idea what is involved in different paint jobs. Why do the prices vary so much?

This is all good stuff mine broke recently as well. Any more advice on possible heater probs/fixes would be apprecitaed by me as well :D :D Cheers guys
