  1. I once got a lift in a Corrado and hated it cos it had been well abused and the trim was rattly and so was the engine come to think of it but mine is a totally different feel, more solid and well built. Its the same with all cars, buy a crap one and its hard to live with. Buying the same car as new on the other hand can feel like a different car. He may have had a dog of a Corrado and a mint Calibra. Each to their own but the Calibra has always seemed like a poor mans version of a coupe to me akin to a Hyundai coupe. Even my mates tacky Probe v6 had more substance when you gave the car a good once over.
  2. hmmmmmmmmm seems like another characteristic c problem  . Who else has been stung for £75 for a new one?
  3. From my engineering course at uni with stichiometric burning of a simple hydrocarbon fuel (i.e. all the fuel burnt) there should be only br nitrogen, water and carbon dioxide in the exhaust products. When the burning is lean (too much oxygen) there is oxygen left over in the exhaust products. When the burning is fuel rich then you should get carbon monoxide (co) in the exhaust products. All cars run rich to ensure all products are burnt and no detonation occurs. If your CO is 0.0 or 0.1 it means that its running lean. Check how much oxygen (O2) is left over. If there is some then you have severe underfuelling problems and risk of detonation. DO NOT rev high if this is the case. Thanks for reading to my thermodynamics lecture :)
  4. found it, its quite hidden and recessed  thanks Joe
  5. Or it could be from any circular courtesy light (you know the ones i mean)
  6. I know exactly what this is!!!! It is from the back of a late interior light switch!!!! Deffo is cos the bulb sits in the notch and distributes the light evenly by the shape that it is. Turn your lights on and check if the green light gives an even light distribution on the cirular window bit Dont bother puttin it back cos you WILL snap something trying to put it in. Dunno how it got on the floor though. Broke my switch and it went all floppy so opened ti up broke all the plastic bits which fell all over the floor. Maybe was hiding when it has been fixed b 4. Under a carpet or summat
  7. Help im changing door handles and cant find the screws in the speaker cover everyon talks about, all i have in there is a speaker!! Please help its urgent cos my car is in pieces
  8. Is 'Corrado 3.1 VR6 with shrick ' available with a supercharger, or even better turbo!? Would turbo & supercharger together be possible? Would there be any point if you could just get a bigger turbo/supercharger instead? With a lottery win i'd give it a go. Might even do it myself for a laff
  9. Apologies schoolboy moment coming up: If i was rich i'd get a brace of c's and tune them in every different way to the max, race them, live with them and find the best. Then i'd be happy :) And smug
  10. Maybe his clocks had an error. He could have been running skateboard wheels and forgot to recalibrate the speedo. Just a thought My thread may be tripe but im relatively new to c ownership and didnt expect to struggle with a 16v golf. However i did say only up to 90mph after that i think the c would stretch its legs and leave it for dead. The golf is lighter than the c and weight saving is alot more effective than gaining horsepower so its easy to see why (at low speed) a good golf can keep up. Of course at high speed the golf with lower torque, drag coefficient etc would lag behind. This brings me back to my origional q how do i get this c to go really fast? (P.S this is not inciting a VR6 vs G60 debate) The car is for sale now so this is only a general q. Hopefully one of you will come out of the woodwork with a real stormer 8)
  11. kevhaywire, Sorry i gave the impression that reliability is always a problem. What i meant to say is in alot of cases that i have seen it can be a problem. Ive heard alot of good things about Stealth so i wouldnt be surprised if there kit is very reliable. Im just always wary of the more extreme conversions and personally to cut out any risk i wouldnt do it.
  12. Not only are turbo converions unreliable in terms of getting from A-B but the power delivery can be unreliable as well. I have seen conversions from very reputable companies where one day the car will be set up with 200bhp on the rollers. A few months later the car has lost serious amounts of power and runs like a dog. It seems that the air and therefore power delivery is so harsh that the fuelling is very difficult to get right. This can not only result in wayward power figures but also detonation ect I'd personally stick with a car that is turbo from the factory then modify it. Alternatively you could get a glader or even a naturally aspirated engine.
  13. I had a faulty relay which disabled the ABS and illuminated the light. Not only that it disabled the cooling fan as well!!!!!!!!!! £40 diagnostic by an auto electrician and was all sorted
  14. Has anyone thought of water getting in the air filter. I used to have a 1.9 205 pug that used to stammer and misfire if you even showed it some water. Also if a cone filter is fitted then water can come in between the bonnet and wing catching in the lower half of the standard airbox. If its really rainign then this could get into the engine. Also check the leads/plugs make sure they are all in good nick etc. One coked plug might not start sparking till the temperature is up. Just a thought
  15. I'll update the photos now and see what interest i get, even got photos of the service history etc
  16. I'd even consider a cheap MK2 golf in pex for my corrado to get me round Cumbria in my new job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kevhaywire, My gearchange can be notchy sometimes after a hard run. Could this be a symptom of my nackered mounts? Its not crunchy and it happens in no particular gear, just can feel notchy or is it like that with all c's?
  18. Rams, i think more people think like that then would like to admit it. Seriously tho how many of you feel guilty and lucky to be alive after a moment of sillyness? Ive lost it at relatively slow speed luckily. Imagine if i was really caning it.
  19. Rams, Early 2.5ltr Boxters are a bit poo i think cos i raced one from a roundabout up a road as straight as a die and started cruising past once we hit a ton. To be fair he had a passenger which could add up to about 100kg for a fatty. If you think about it thats like 1/12th the weight of the car on top. Those novas would be laughin if i had 3 fattys in the c tho

Dont worry Henny i could see where your coming from, i read the message back to myself and knew what you were thinking. One q tho, how come everyone has a nice picture of their car under their name? I tried to attach one to my profile and its gotta be less that 150*150 pixels!! My Gameboy has more than that!! When i look at your pictures they are all top quality. Rams are your wheels really that big?!?!?! Or is it a clever photo chop? Front discs also look big
  21. How do i stop this water problem when it rains. Water comes in between the bonnet edge and the wing

The offset on the wheels is ET35 the same as those pattern german ones you showed me Paul. The size is 7.5J*17H2. Know that 7.5 is the width & 17 the diameter, not sure what J and H2 mean though. They also have a made in Italy badge on the back. Think they may be pattern ones but why would someone go to the trouble of drilling them if theyre fakes. The badges dont fit properly which is another sign they may be fake. Any ideas??????????

Ive replaced the starter motor on a MK2 Golf before and the mount at the front holds it all together. The gearbox dropped on removing the starter so i had to jack the whole engine & gearbox up to get the bolt back through. This sounds like a similar job so shouldnt take me too long to sort. Thanks guys appreciate the help Any advice on replacing the rear? Or is it the same as the front?

Joe M, I think ill get the two that you got done if mine are nackered. How much for the lot? The price is the only factor. Like you i'll be visiting a specialist

Hub adapters look good. Does it alter the offset of the wheel? They look quite thick so how dont the wheels stick out? Here are more pics of them (yes they are on my dining room table and no you cant tell my mother  ). Seriously tho they arnt perfect and there are kerbs. The centre caps seen here do fit into place by themselves and are only pushed in for the photos (they had epoxy holding them in when i bought the car but left no pain damage)
