Cheers C5 OEM, looks ok to me. The part number is 925VG0080, I called them today. If I can get a known working second hand one cheaper it would be better for me as I've just got laid of work. I'm not entirely sure its my problem really, I'm clutching at straws. I'm trying all I can before I hand it to Vince which I can't afford at the mo. The one I've got fitted is also a copy. It's been on three years now.

Oh right sorry. I've been looking through your thread and I have to say what a lovely corrado you have mate, well done! Do you know whereabouts in your build thread it is and are there pics? I'm gonna ring GSF now to see if they've got one in stock, cheers.

I'll think your find that is a coil for a dizzy VR? And the coil pack is £118. Dan thanks, but mine isn't that bad that its not drivable. I think it may be freaking out my lambda sensor at idle. I can see a crack on the casing, not the resin bit. I'm going to give it a good spraying tonight! I really want a good second hand or new one really. Thanks for the offer though mate.

Really? I'll look in to that, thanks.

Has anyone got a non cracked good working order coil pack they can sell me please? Preferably near by East Sussex so I could pick it up. I could also have it sent I suppose. I was just hoping to get one for the weekend, cheers. Or even if someone wouldn't mind me just swapping their's over just for a quick run round the block maybe?

Right ok, I'll probably get VW studs when I decide to take the mani off. Its not leaking at all at the moment so I'm just hoping it stays like that for a while. This is the stud I've snapped. I'm thinking as its got a nut either side of it, that it my be ok? Its not as though I've loosened any nuts so I shouldn't think it would move much, but I know it could expand with heat maybe?

It said they fit VW Golf gti 8v 16v vr6 1.8t. What I meant, do the standard ones bottom out into the head, or does the shank stop it leaving a gap? Not that it would probably matter anyway, as long as you don't over tighten and crack something! My main thing I was concerned about is not taking the mani off this weekend and doing it at a later date. Is the exhaust mani going to leak soon or be fine? Thanks for the response anyway mate.

Any advice please?

I've been using fully syn for the last few changes now. I used a Motul 10w 50, Millers 10w 60 and have now purchased Castrol edge 10w 60. Am I using the wrong grade for what I need or is that fine?

Did you know... and other C related tricks...

My heater stays on if I have the lights on, is that normal? -
After wondering whether my lambda sensor running problem was down to an exhaust blow freaking the sensor out, I started looking for leaks. I think its actually the downpipe that is leaking. The other day I thought I'd check the manifold for tightness and I snapped one of the studs off to the manifold flange! I know I could probably remove it quite easily if I removed the manifold, but am worried I could maybe snap more and I cant be without the car. I'm swapping the downpipe at the weekend but was wondering as the mani is not leaking could I just leave it till a later date when I say, fit a six branch? Also I did buy some new studs of ebay but I'm now thinking I should of got some VW ones. Reason being there isn't any shank on them to stop them going any further into the head. Am I worrying about nothing? Or is it best to fit orignal ones?

I think my downpipe has a crack somewhere and its causing my lambda fault code running problem. Has anyone got a second hand 6 branch mani prehaps, or just a standard downpipe in good nick and obviously not leaky? Thanks.

The mounts look upside down to me? :?

Tell me about it, Ive been searching for the cause of this running problem for months now and had given up. Was going to drive it all the way to Vince at stealth to have a look but havn't got the funds at the moment. I'm just glad it just about passed the emissions test yesterday. Its running high CO just slightly under the limits!
-
So this could be my running problem hopefully at long last! I wont get my hopes up too much though, lol :)

I cant seem to get any readings on 1&2, 2&3 or 1&3. :? I have had a couple of occasions where I've stalled the car then it would just turn over but not start. I thought it may have been flooded as I had just started it and it is running rich at the moment.
-
Anyone? I've just re tested it again and still could not get a reading. :?
-
Still trying to get to the bottom of my on going running problem. I decided to test the crank sensor for resistance. I think its pin 1 and 2 your supposed to get a reading of 500-1000 ohms. correct me if I'm wrong. I couldn't seem to get any reading testing with any combination of pins. :? I know its a bit fiddly to test with the probes and the crank sensor fitted from under the bonnet, but I did try several times. My question is would the car still run with there being no resistance? I have replaced it in the past but it is a cheap after market plastic cased jobby. EDIT: I know its obvious if I've managed to test the sensor correctly it will run. I'm just wondering if this is the problem with the car that I've been searching for months for now?
-
Yeah I've ordered one now thanks. Its on back order. I'm worried the car is going to fail the mot Saturday on emissions because of the slight misfire. :(

Has anyone got a spare number 6 ignition lead for a VR6? Im a bit strapped for cash at the moment and have damaged mine. Cant afford to buy a new set at the moment. If anyone has one it would be a great help, cheers.

Obd2 VR6 No Closed Loop? (Update P4, advice please)

The car is not remapped. I'm running on the swapped ecu at the moment, so that would rule out the ecu. I've recently installed recon injectors also to see if that was causing the problem. When did it all start, well quite a while ago now. The car has always had a bit of an idle issue. Sometimes I would pull up and it would be lumpy, then other times idle fine. I'm wondering if its something that's became progressively worse over time?
