I run 215/40/17 on 7.5J rim, lowered 30mm with no problems. On full lock when parking there is a tiny bit of rubbing on the plastic inners but it's negligible. I agree that 205s look too stretched and expose too much rim on a 7.5J. They're prone to kerbing enough as it is.

The dials in the "new glow dials" thread look really nice and the glowing interior portion of the dial does away with the non-illuminated needle problem. Are the two lcd displays not back lit? If so is there any way to back light them? This relatively simple mod seems to be fraught with probs.

Heh, yeah, yeah. Well I had another look last night and there is nothing that I can get at, everything is wedged in by the piping and a big black box (condenser maybe?) to the side of it . On the very base of the fan unit there is a round metal chassis type thing with 2 plugs in it but it doesn't look anything like the pictures I've seen of the resistor pack. In fact the whole fan looks different to the pictures I've seen, I wonder if they fitted a new fan when the air-con was fitted. I'll try and get some pictures.

I'll have another squizz at it tonight, I may be making life a bit difficult for myself, I just remember squeezing myself under the dashboard at some acute angle, sweating and swearing alot.
-
I thought you had to remove the black plastic housing around the motor to get to the resisitor pack? The housing won't come off cause of the air-con.

Okay, my car has developed the classic " heater will only work on fan setting 4" problem. I bought the resistor to fix the problem but upon trying to drop the fan motor out to get at the resistor pack I found that it wouldn't drop down past the two aircon pipes, they have metal bends in them that seem pretty inflexible. Has anyone else had this problem? I hope it's not going to require a trip to an air-con expert to dismantle the piping :?

Sweet. I'll get it ordered. Thanks v.much.

How do you remove the lens from the headlight unit? I've got a cracked lens and it sounds like replacing the lens would be a deal cheaper than the whole unit.
-
Is that all? Phew that's okay then. I think I was expecting something really bad, not sure what though. Ta v.much.

Over the past couple of weeks a droning noise has developed, seems to stem from in front of the drivers foot well and is related to wheel speed, then a couple of days ago the steering wheel started to wobble if I let go of it, I've now stopped driving it. It's going to the garage on monday but I just wondered what I might expect. Anybody got any thoughts?

Yeah, they look pretty cool - but how are they back-lit? If they're the ones I've seen on Vortex then they're the Zarman ones, which I imagine are indiglos. Really like the aluminium rings around them, they remind me a little of the minimal T350 dials. BTW Andi what sort of starter button did you fit?
-
Looking through the previous posts it looks like there are more than enough people to make up the numbers for production. Any word on what's happening Andi? Also has anyone had any thoughts about the needle illumination, I mentioned about using the needles off a current VW, is this viable?

Ta very much Cheesey, not gonna do it till december but I'll give them a call. Do love them lights by the way, is there a lot of work invloved getting them to fit? Saw a C on an american site with Audi A4 lights, looked very nice but I think he had to make the lenses

So they do Corrado Subframes for them? Sweet. I really like the milano's but they're a bit pricey, torinos seem like a good compromise. I've been busy the past couple of days so I haven't had chance to get any pics of the underneath of the gear surround, I'll do them over the weekend and post them on monday.
-
Yeah the vinyl was tricky, I nearly bonded my fingers to it a couple of times. I think it would be a lot easier if you got someone to hold the vinyl while you applied the glue. Will post some piccies tomorrow.

The ring and boot are from a TT. I ordered them from an Audi stealer, 'fraid I can't remember how much I paid, don't think it was more than £30. I got the idea from the canadian corrado club website, http://www.corrado-club.ca (under modifications). I made a couple of alterations though, first of all I used MDF (15mm) instead of oak, which meant that the wood was a lot easier to shape and I wanted to keep the mod reversible so instead of filing off the plastic ridge that runs around the mount I routed out a channel in the wood so the new surround sits flush. That pretty much keeps it in place, I've secured it with a velcro strip at the back, seems to work okay. I can post some pictures of the routing if you need any more info. I knocked it up in a weekend, just took a bit of trial and error to get the size spot on. I'm working on some aluminium door handles at the mo(!). HTH.

Heh, wouldn't dream of it . Actually I really like the FRP, I was never keen on the puma it always seemed a little ill proportioned but the FRP looks really beefey, ride height is a little high but when something handles that well you don't really want to mess with it. Gotta love the way the exhaust pops and crackles when you lift off  I think the Ford racing Sparcos are pretty much torino's but for the bright blue alcantara? So does anyone have any clues as to how tricky it would be to fit them?
-
Has anybody tried fitting Sparco torinos to their C's? The Leather is getting a little tired on mine and I figured for the price of getting them recovered I could spend a little more and get a brand spanking new set of Sparcos. I think they're the same as the ones in my mates racing Puma and they seem pretty comfy and very supportive. Would it require nasty stuff like welding? Ta.

Hi, could you put me down for a set please? Regarding needle illumination, might it be possible to rig up something using new golf bits, ie. needles and whatever method of lighting current cars use?
-
Hi, I've currently got a Koni/Eibach top adjustable setup (lowered 30mm on 17"s) which I hate, I used to love B roads but I avoid at all costs now. I'm really eager to change, the only alternative I'd heard of for improved ride quality was the H&R coilovers, are the FK's better? Leavon. Icegrey violet 94 VR6.
