  1. Yeah, shoot up sometime Andy! In the meantime, I've been playing.....
  2. It's quite feasable, a lot of dealers will pay less than that for part ex on them. it's an old car after all. I'd take a look at it. might be onto a winner.
  3. I was just wondering if anyone else has 2 corrados insured? Most people I know have the rado as a second car and a daily driver, however I have just picked up a cheap VR6 which I hope to use as a daily, and save my 16v a few miles. My current policy runs out in september, and I need to make a few adjustments, for example declaring bigger brakes on the 16v. I wasn't sure if it would be worth cancelling that policy and starting a multi car policy, or just getting a decent deal on the VR and leaving the 16v till renewal time. The other thing is that the VR might only be on the road for a month (Mot is up soon) so could I insure it just for a month? cheers for any suggestions Tom
  4. I think Nuggets are stunning... Nice action! Good to see it on Sebrings too.
  5. Cheers guys. Couldn't believe my luck when it worked out... To be honest. I am not a fan of corrados in white, but it came up at the right time. Think I'll use it as a daily and save the valver for nice days out.
  6. Well. I've still got to post more pictures of the brake conversion up. But... in addition to my poor old H reg Valver, and the spare red corrado, I now have......... A N reg VR6, it's white with black leather interior, lots of dents and patches of rust, but it looks pretty solid, and it might be here to stay, if not it'll be in the parts for sale section. Here're some rough pictures from it on the lorry. It should make it home tommorrow night, when the lorry is repaired. It's got 133k on it and fvwsh up to 88k, needs a battery charger and the tyres blown up, but it was spot on for the money ;) She's got a original tow bar, and no grill due to the bonnet cable being broken, and ought to smarten up with a lick of paint.
  7. I thought that Mike_G60 bought some new ones and sold them fairly soon afterward? Darren had some on his mk2 I believe, so it might be worth asking him.
  8. 3Corsameal Sounds like the pump, check the belt to the pump, and the fluid level is ok. You might have the wrong grade of fluid in there. Best bet is to buy new fluid from VW, drain and replace the old stuff. The power steering pump has to do a great deal of work to turn the wheels at low speeds especially if it's got wider wheels than standard, they do wear out after a lot of use. Herisites do you mean you get a clunking sound when you turn tightly? I expect that is your knackered cv joint. Or do you mean there is play when you turn the wheels? The MOT should have picked this up, but it could be steering ball joints (DId you swap them) or the trackrod ends on the rack. Both of these can be replaced, to save money on a new rack.
  9. I did my tractor the other day online. Very easy especially as there's no tax to pay on it.
  10. 1.8s don't have a lambda. Check the timing. It almost sounds like the sheared crank keyway problem that affects G60s. Check the oil pressure too. The pumps are known to fail with the relief valve jammed shut, causing excessive oil pressure which jams the tappets open, causing similar symptons to yours.
  11. Toad

    Mini Rims...?

They look very much like mk4 polo GTi wheels. which would fit....
  12. That's a very good explaination, kind of what I would strive to, but fail to deliver. It's worth noting that the chuffing kind of noise aka "turbo chatter" on some cars without correctly set up wastegates is caused by the air being forced back past the compressor stage, which can lead to the shaft snapping.
  13. Good news mate... I was just about to pm you to see how you got on!It's a bit frustrating to have to knacker your indicators, but I suppose the main thing is that she's on the road and drives well. I didn't imagine the driveshaft being anything like that bad to knock out!I guess I've been very lucky in the past. At least it'll be fairly straight forward to replace it when you next get a chance. Well done on taking the bull by the horns too, it takes some balls to start a job like that when it's your daily driver, hopefully it's given you plenty of confidence for the future. Hopefully catch you at inters!
  14. If you've not got the connector on your car (should be a plug in your wheel arch or clipped to the suspension strut) then don't worry. A quick tug will get rid of the wires for you. Glad things are going well! Any other problems, just give me a shout. Sorry I can't be too much help at times but I don't have bently at work, and half the time I'm trying to imagine my way around the problem , without my lack of work being noticed fromt he powers that be! lol.
  15. Try Owslebury crankshafts in Winchester. They're a very reputable company that specialises in engines and rebuilds.
  16. There's a few threads on doing it on here - have a search and you should be able to find them. Well, if you want to try painting it, I could lend you it, if you don't like the paint, give it back, if you do, then pay me... I reckon I could just about trust you ;)
  17. I've got one, in red you could have and respray ;)
  18. Lol. I'm sure it'll be fine. It's not been lowered yet, so it's easier to get under. That makes me happy. :D I guess I didn't recognise the building where the photos were taken then. Haha.
  19. Hmmmm. Interesting. Got a feeling it'll be rather like and on/off switch with single piston calipers though...
  20. Looks good. I like rados in green.... Trying to work out where you took those photos, looks familiar.... Car park by that pet place that used to be Les Smith's on Andover road? If you need any parts, or a hand doing any work give me a shout... I've got a couple of bits knocking around
  21. Cool, not far away at all. I used to come past regularly when my sister and her boyfriend were at their old house. If you can't make next weekend, there's a few of us meeting at the same pub on Thursday evening after work, pop along then.
  22. Yeah... I'm thinking that it could be them as it was a less apparent problem with thte 256's on the front, but still occured to an extent. My Bias valve wouldn't let the rear brakes play until I cable tied it part way open. Other than that, I believe it works as there is a noticable pulse from the piston when you kick the brakes on hard and off again, which I'm led to believe is a test to check they are ok. Maybe I'll get a chance to get the other 4 goodridge hoses fitted and have a good look round them soon. Cheers Kev!
  23. I have wondered if it is a claiper playing up. The fronts are 2 year old ex Vr6 calipers which looked pretty good, I re-built one rear completely and have changed the rear pads, so all the calipers have all been off and the sliper pins cleaned and re-greased in the last 2-3 months, so it shouldn't be, but I wonder if a bit of crap got on one of the pins, or perhaps they're over greased and don't slide properly? I replaced the handbrake cables too, so I know the handbrake isn't sticking at all. I'm learning to live with the brakes, but it's a bit frustrating when you don't quite know where the pedal is going to start to work.
