Cupra nickel is harder and longer lasting than copper, easier to work than steel pipe and should corrode less, it wont be out in the winter though :) Thanks for the comments guys :thumbleft: it has become a bit of an obsession :? engine out next winter for rebuild and tidy up  just dont know where to stop Heres a couple from the summer [roll on]passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfDSCN1202.JPG[/attachment:3j3cyg3t]

Hi Neil, I think there's a 50mm spoiler for sale in the parts section on the forum. Recon rear calipers; have had 2 exchange units from local motor factors and had no trouble with either but think the most recent one cost £60, guess I should have haggeld :?
-
Do you mean the spring baseplate or internals of the shocker? I have an old set surplus to requirements if you want to experiment!
-
Be nice to see another white Vr Neil :)
-
Those ABS sensors on the rear axles are a right bugger to remove. I did the same thing, plenty of copper grease on rebuild to stop it happening again!
-
Hey Neil, have just done the same on my white Vr, basically new bushes suspension brakes and pipes all round. Trust me once you start its difficult to stop, ended up sandblasting and powder coating rear beam and subframe! Looks the dogs b*****ks now though. 8) You arent far away if you need a better look see what wants doing bring it over get it on the lift. Give me a call on mobile if you want. see pm :DImage027.jpg[/attachment:z1qcl33o]

Thanks for offer Jude, have ordered one anyway, will see if its right and let you know :D Aqua 60, I thought earliest C's had full size spares but wasn't sure when option became available. Guessing mines ok then wiyh space saver :D

Thanks for rapid reply Walesy, any idea on warning tri :) angle

Does anybody know which year did the space saver wheel come in? I thought it was a later addition but I have a 92 Vr6 with a space saver spare! Also are new VW red triangles the same as 92? Dont want to enter concours with the wrong bits  Any advice much appreciated :)

Make sure that camber adjusting bolts are done up real tight as I had to have it reset after they slipped out of adjustment. It cost £70 for 4 wheel alignement, tracking and camber. My tyres should last longer and handling spot on too. A good investment I think :)

, What a job :cuckoo: had four attempts starting at master cylinder, onto abs pump, front nearside, front offside. valve compressed rears bleed with and without engine running having replaced brake lines, discs, pads and hoses. Struggled to get proper brakes. Have driven gently to bed things in they are now improving. :? Just seems to need a few miles to let things settle in

So are you saying there should be less than 10mm plus 17.5% !! That would be about 11mm ??
-
Have just renewed my shocks with OE units but retained original springs, bilsten rears and boge fronts, 1992 Vr6 , measurement 345mm @ front and 355 @ rear. Stance was much the same before, looking down at the front, hope this helps. By the way what wheels are you on, Monte carlos or speedline?
-
Have just replaced front suspenion including topmounts and bearings using OE stuff. Top play in mountings of about 8mm, Have been told its usual for all VW, could reduce it by fitting a slimmer top mount nut, but it needs some clearance to allow steering movement. Must admit I didnt check clearance before rebuild but seems a larger gap now, any advice appreciated , :)
-
Thanks for the reply guys, its reasurring to know monte carlos are standard fitment, just bought some speedlines, guess they'll do for spares!
-
I have an early model Vr6 1992, tis fitted with monte carlo wheels [as fitted to the campaigns I believe] have seen another early Vr fitted with the same. Will it be likely that they were standard fitment to early pre facelift models or were they all fitted with speedlines??? Also wanting to trace previous owners to trace the history of this particular car, any advice appreciated !

Hi Goldie, just done mine, they were very tight to say the least. They sit in the hole secured by an allen stud. Corrosion over the years builds up to make it extremely difficult to remove in one piece. Loads of releasing fluid and tapping and twisting, be patient because they are fragile and cost much more than the fronts if damaged. Good luck!
-
Tool to rewind the rear piston back in, ended up making one, but easy to adapt grinding disc removal tool, just shape the edges off into more of a vee shape to match the piston lugs, fairly straigtforward!
-
Just removed mine tonight and found they resisted, needed a little gentle persuasion tapping the spanner claw aroud the union before applying to much force and rounding the nut off, perhaps I was just lucky!
-
Have just replaced mine [GPC Inters £70] Lift off the rear end first, is snap fit on to a threaded stud, then peel away strip. The front end of the strip is slotted onto a capped locator and needs to be pulled backwards to free it. Removal is easy, refitting new parts is more difficult. I had trouble slotting the front of the new strip under the locator, heat from a hair drier helped but still a struggle. Looks good now though. If GPC try to sell you the 2 extra bits for the hatch you dont need them. Hope this helps !
