  1. just ordered the sikolene 10-50 pro s stuff then saw its a fully synthentic, does this matter? will i need to tell garage to flush the old oil or can they just drain it and top up with this new stuff...... i have semi-synthentic at the mo
  2. is it best to get a VW radiator from VW, or can i go elsewhere and save some money, don't fancy a 2nd hand one
  3. nah, i don't think its the elbow anymore, deffo looks like a hole in the rad now, think the water had just puddled there as there is a dip
  4. thats the current laws, i too am not sure if anything changes for us
  5. is it a hard/expensive job to change the rad? how much of car do i have to remove? is it worth trying to upgrade the rad in some form? or not really?
  6. may be a silly question, but why do i keep thinking the corrado has two rads? is that right?
  7. bit of an update, topped up about 1 inch of water, made it home, car was fine on way home, no high temps, no steam, and when got home there was no sign of a leak. popped into local garage and we found a spot on radiator with loads of pink stuff on it (G12) i guess it has formed a crusty pie type layer (looked like something from ghostbusters) and sealed itself again. but guess i need a new radiator now
  8. why take the shocks apart from one side and not the other? = lazy
  9. i have assumed things are just getting old, the 1st one was the thermostat housing, they said it just fell apart as they took it off, 2nd one was the coolant hose to bulkhead which i think we disturbed when we were jacking engine up and down to get to the steering rack. the thing is with RAC is i don't like them trying to bodge a repair to get home, i'd rather it just get towed
  10. its about 16 miles journey, i think i'm going to try and make it home at lunch time. i'd rather break down then instead of rush hour later this is the 3rd time i'd had coolant leak
  11. i think your right, i can't see any hoses split, is hard to tell where the water has come from as its sprayed everywhere, but it does seem like that plastic elbow on radiator not sure what to do now, do i risk driving it home? guy at work said something about driving with the expansion cap off?
  12. Land rover 101 V8 & the 306 seen here
  13. Ha! Doesn't seem like its been back on road for 5mins and something else has broken, pulled up at work today and noticed some steam coming out from under bonnet. lifted bonnet and yep, coolant is leaking out again, not sure where from yet, got some pics on the way...... its at the top of the radiator i think, looks like a plastic thing a hose fits onto. Although water has sprayed about so going to check once its all dried up again
  14. not bought it but am pretty sure you should have the mounts it does say "Polyurethane up-rated bushes are also supplied complete with mounting kits"
  15. i'm having trouble adding Stirling Moss to mine?
  16. joined too 8) i've never done the football ones of these as i don't watch it....
  17. does the water level stay the same now, or is it using/loosing water? maybe worth a 2nd opinon, unless you can deffo see something is wrong
  18. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/mai ... dies27.xml just reading that, a few paragraphs down, may be helpful
  19. didn't they do this on fifth gear? the diesel car ran alright on petrol, but they didn't recommend doing it all the time
  20. probably the camber of the road, try driving on the wrong side of the road for as long as you can
  21. just about to get my vr6 serviced, its just gone past 160,000miles, hasn't really had any work done on the engine, it still drives very well, is a little noisy though, tapping/chattering noises at about 2-3k rpm, doesn't seem to be from the chains and isn't a major problem just getting old is there any problem with switching to Silkolene PRO S 10W-50 now, as recommended alot in this thread http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1145-silkol ... gines.aspx £71.05 for 10 litres, but the engine using a far bit at the moment so could work out cheaper, worth a try for a year?
  22. do you have to supply your own engine with it? just looking at this list what doesn't that include? http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/gtr/prices.html seems cheap
  23. leave the engine as a standard VR6 imo, will sell easier in the future, is more original, has plenty of power as it is, already uses enough fuel up i reckon well maintained near standard examples are going to most sought after in years to come
