anyone seen this on e-bay (item no.4585682562) is there such a thing as a corrado hi-line? sounds to cheap to be true! very tempted but it's all the way down in portsmouth & i've got a speeding ban or huge fine hanging over me! this is probably in the wrong section, soz if it is!

hi guys, thinking of getting one of these performance chip thingys(on ebay no.458059178) but know jack sxxt about them! did a search on the forum but not a lot of info. is there different 2l 16v engines in corrados & how do i find out which ones in mine? i see a couple of peeps on the forum have got them, do you think they're worth the money or is it not worth the time & effort? just want to unleash a few more horseys from the old girl while i'm deciding on whether to get a g60 or vr6. i've got a 94 L reg 20l 16v if that helps? cheers, gaz

always loved roccos & corrados but thought i couldn't afford a corrado so went for 18gt rocco. absolutely loved that car even though it was a bottomless money pit (even more so than the corrado) but got a better job which involved more travelling so wanted a more reliable car! (i know, didn't know c's are as bad as roccos for things breaking) always wanted a white or yellow c but couldn't find decent ones but then i saw a grey/violet pearl one on ebay & thought i'd take a butchers! remember looking at it thinking how unusual the colour was & with c's being rare anyway thought that's the car for me! but the one thing i really love about them is & i'd never thought about it till my g/f mentioned it, is that they don't look outdated like other cars from that era. stick a private plate on & de-badge it & most people wouldn't have a clue what it is, only that it's a very very nice car!

gearboxes can be a problem to, usually selecting first gear. also the windscreen seals go, you usually find a small swimming pool in one of your footwells! my scirocco gt had every single fault thats been mentioned but apart from the replacement carb & new petrol tank was usually cheap to fix.
-
that's probably why it's so crap on petrol! mine must be running like a bag of hammers! think it needs a service & a tune up. theres a surprise, spending money on a corrado!

i've got a totally standard 20l 16v & according to the mfa i'm getting 20-27 mpg or about 200 miles for 30 quid. does this sound about right, seems a bit low to me? most of my time driving is spent in the urban cycle & round the doors so i suppose that wont be helping matters. gaz

mine's the ice grey violet pearl which i'd never knew existed till i saw it, most people who have seen my car say "never seen one that colour before" always really wanted a nugget yellow one but well chuffed i've got this one.

Late heater controls - repair tips - Update 16/11
randomist replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in Interior
i've got the same problem as storm warning in that the directional control only works on the windreen & footwell setting. i've had the controller to bits & re-sat the cog but still had the same problem. so i'm asuming the cable needs changing. is it hard to access the other end of the cable & do you need to take the dash totally apart? i've got a spare controller (off a seat toledo) so i should be able to cobble something together to get it working. i'm just a bit concerned that i have to take most of the dash out just to change a cable. hope this makes sense coz i'm confused now! gaz -
Things that have gone wrong and then fixed themselves.......
randomist replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
central locking has chucked it twice when driver in torrential rain, ok in normal rain! 1st time took 3 days to work 2nd time 2 weeks! very bizarre. also when it was freezing last year would chuck it within 2 mins of driving, then had to rev the nads off it to get petrol through then would drive perfectly till the next time i got in it & the same thing happened again! done this for 6 days then stopped, never done it since. -
yeah its all been repaired to a really high standard, its been catergorised group d write off. took it for a test drive last night & it's a flying machine! drives really well although the brakes were spongey compared to mine. had a couple of little niggley things wrong though, back brake judders probably the disc & also it wasn't ticking over very well, stalled a couple of times to. i know its been standing for a couple of weeks, could the problems be caused by this?

hi guys, going to have a look at a 94 L vr6 tonight but not sure what it's worth. the car is ice grey violet colour which is in immaculate condition but it's been in a front end bump! it was nothing major just needed a new bumper & indicator. it's 112k on the clock a black interior in mint condtion, full stainless exhaust, service history up to about 85k. the alloys are slightly kerbed but not to bad, all the electrics work & there will be a full mot on it. i've had a quick look on the buyers guide so i kinda know what to look for but if you can think on anything i need to look out for let me know. i actually bought my current corrado off the same guy so i know he's a decent sort. i'm just after a general price coz i don't know how much the fact it's been in a bump will affect the price cheers, gaz

how useful is this forum? already ordered my repair kit off dave! should be all sorted in no time! cheers everyone. gaz
-
think i'll be getting the repair kit off dave just as soon as i get a reply. for £13-50 its a bargain! hopefully i'll be able to fit it myself but if i cant i just so happen to know a bloke who's done this job before who's a member of the forum, lives about a mile from me, drive a silver vr6! erm....whassis name man? only joking chris!!!
-
i've pm'd dave16v so just waiting for reply, is his kit like the one on e-bay? also how much did it cost? the kit on e-bay will set me back about 30 quid but its in germany so don't know how long it'll take to arrive. i'm getting a handle of the guy i bought the car off so i'm in no mad rush coz i'll have that fitted on saturday but i want it fixed properly so i don't have to keep faffing on with it!
-
when i get the door handle & don't have the key what would happen if i put it on the car, would the remote central locking still work? obviously i wouldn't be able to open it with a key but i'm not that fussed at the mo. i'll fix it properly eventually, honest!
-
looks like the curse of the knackered drivers door handle has struck again! is there a thread elsewhere on the forum explaining how to fix it or can anyone offer some advice. i'm getting a second hand door handle on saturday & want to know how (if) i can use my old lock barrel, obviously i'd like to keep all the locks the same. i've looked at the door handle & there's a little lever thats snapped off so i don't know if its completely knackered or if it can be salvaged? cheers, gaz

is there one on this sunday, might pop down if it is? have you got the rado & the mk1 on the road? what colour's your rado & would i have seen your mk1? saw a lush one this morning strangely enough, driving past the civic centre & over the tyne bridge.
-
no that one wasn't mine, seen it a few times. think that one belongs up carr hill rd. mine had pirelli p slots on & the front grill painted white. a lot of people have has rocco's then graduated to its younger bro, if i had somewhere to keep two cars i'd love blue rocco storm & vr6 rado! maybe one day?
-
i live just off old durham rd near the bottom by the garage, my c is only a 2l 16v but i have seen a blue c round the same area. he was behind me a couple of weeks ago coming along durham rd but turned down just before the jolly miller so i'm not sure what model his is. where do you live & judging by the name your a rocco fan to? used to have a white gt before i got the c. still miss the old girl, wish i kept her!
-
i wouldn't have the patience to take on something like that, if my car's off the road for more than a couple of days i'm demented! at least you've got your bike to play on, noticed quite a few c owners have bikes. got an ickle tzr ypvs at home which should be ready to play on next week. don't know how much i'll use it this year coz i love driving my corrado! do you have any idea when you hope to have her back on the road?
-
cheers steve, i see your from darlington, a gateshead lad myself. is there many north east c owners on the forum & do you ever meet up? always after picking someones brain for c related info. don't see many c up here, i've had mine since december & i've only seen maybe 6 or 7! gaz

the first corrado i went to see was a nugget yellow 1.8 16v with full black leather & bbs wheels. looked lush when i first saw it but as i got nearer noticed loads of yellow overspray. the wheels were manky too but i still wanted it! the owner had the handles de-locked which i thought was cool till he popped it open then went & opened the boot & pulled a bit of clothes line to open the door! still wanted it though! then found out the leather seats were electric but weren't connected up so you had to lug a battery to the side of the car to adjust the f-n seats! and i still wanted it! good job my brother was there coz i had nugget yellow tinted specs on & convinced myself i could sort it for 50 quid! had give up hope of getting a decent corrado, they seem to be rare in the north east of england till i saw the i've got only 5 mile away! result! bought it straight away, just as i was looking at mr2's!
-
just checked the colour code & it's LK4U so it is indeed the ice grey violet pearl colour. as much as i love the colour i still think the nugget yellow cars look the best. was the colour a major issue when you guys we're buying your cars or we're you not fussed as long as you had a corrado! oh & thanks for the welcome, this forum is mint!

hi folks, just been flicking through a few of the posts & came across one where they are talking about the best colour corrado & mentioned the colour "ice grey violet" was wondering what this colour looks like & if any members have this colour car & also a picture posted on the forum. the reason i'm asking is i've never seen one the same colour as mine which is light depending either purple, purpley/blue & even looks silvery/blue in some pictures. the log book says purple & i'll try to post a picture myself but i've only got a crappy camera phone & it doesn't really show the real colour of the car. must be one of the rarer colours coz i ain't seen one like it. in saying that the guy i bought it off told me he's just bought a vr6 the same colour! wonder if he'll swap? cheers, gaz
