can you get such a thing as a bump strip that goes along the seam just below the door handle? the reason i ask is i keep noticing little dents & scratches on that seam & it's really pxxsing me off! my car had the lower bump strips removed but i don't think they'd make a difference coz it's higher up the door that keeps getting hit! the annoying thing is i'm pretty sure it's my neighbours coz it's the only place where cars ever get near enough to hit mine! i'm sure the bxstards park as close as they possibly can! ideally i'd like something removeable, maybe magnetic coz it'll probably look shxt but i just want to protect my car! might have to start wrapping it in bubble wrap every night! just thought, probs should be in exterior! soz mods, have mercy!

my mates valver does this all the time, i found that flicking the glass next to the gauge works like a charm! not really a solution but it might work!!!!!

mine does this too, mine does it coz i've had the fan motor out & i don't think i've put it back together properly. i'm sure i couldn't get it to sit in on of the clips or something so just gave up! doesn't do it when i turn the fan on full blast! if it really bothers you i'd check the fan motor itself under the passenger shelf & see if its a tight fit in the housing.

just been for a spin down to a local retail park in my lunch break & i'd just parked the car up when this burly chap came running after me! he shouted " how mate, does your car have a tiny tab burn on the rear seat behind the drivers?" once i realised i wasn't about to be carjacked i said yeah it has actually. he then got all excited & animated coz he said thats my old car! apparently he was the 2nd owner after he bought it off a chap from london who stupidly told him he'd just lost his job & wanted a quick sale! so this guy arranges to meet the seller in nottingham with the 16k in his pocket that the car was advertised for! after a test drive & a thorough check over he couldn't find fxxk all wrong with it but cheekily offered him 14k! the seller was gutted but begrudgingly accepted, the daft twxt! he then goes on to say its the best car he's ever had & that he kept it for 5 years which he never normally does! obviously a vw enthusiast coz he'd had golf vr's & was driving a new gti & had put his name down for the new scirocco! how cool is that? not sure if that's classed as a chuftie! :lol:

yeah that's exactly the sort of stuff he does. i'm getting my bonnet done, front bumper & maybe the rear arch. no rust yet but might as well get it done, prevention better than cure 'n' all that! when you want it done pm me & we'll sort something out.

there's a place right next door to autofix in shiremoor, cant for the life of me remember the name but i'll try to find out for you. spoke to the lads at autofix & they said they're good, quite reasonably priced. never used them myself coz i'm going to use a lad who lives opposite me. seen his work & he's really good! if you want you can have a look at the job he does on mine & i'll ask him if he fancies doing another one?

just picked the car up! i'm in lurve again! don't know how i drove it for so long with a knackered clutch, it's so light now its fab! over the moon with the service i got & the bill was more or less spot on what was quoted! 417 quid for the labour & they even fixed/sorted loads of other things they came across! so big thumbs up for autofix of shiremoor! dropped car off tuesday morning & was ready thursday morning! i'm well chuffed! only problem now is i'm stuck at work staring out the window at my car coz i'm dying to get out & have a bit fun!

just spotted a charged vr on ebay, its in for 4.5k but don't know if thats the price he wants? looks like corradoVR6n.o.s. off here? in the durham area

getting the vr back tomorrow, getting excited, really have missed the old girl! been borrowing a 1.8 valver c & as nice as it is to drive there's no way i could drop down from a vr to a valver! drove a mates passat tdi & once again, nice car to drive but it's just not a vr! don't think there's another car like a vr for character & noise & rarity value (the main reasons i bought it in the first place!) so at the mo my heart has over ruled my head & i think i'm going to keep her! just need to take the lead weights out my shoes & i'll save a fortune in petrol! going to get all the little jobs i've been putting off done asap so she's pristine again! stone chips on the bonnet & getting a badgeless grill colour coded. get the discs & pads changed & get my 17" momo's refurbed coz i cant get used to it having the speedlines back on! ( i'm sure i'll be hammered for that comment though! :lol: ) thanks for the advise anyway lads, was much appreciated. just got to work out what else i've got of value to sell?! anyone need a kidney, one teetotal careful owner? funny you should mention that but i have looked at hondas, mates got an accord & he swears by it! was thinking about doing that but the insurance is more or less the same & the valver i had before the vr was actually worse on petrol than the vr! think that was more to do with the way i drove it though!

i'll let you know how they get on & the final cost when its done. bought the parts myself so they are labour only. initial quote/price for the work is 400-500 quid. think that seems canny reasonable myself.

it's a place around the corner from work called autofix, not too far from shiremoor. do all the work on my car, top blokes & very reasonable!

i know once all the work is done she'll be totally sweet again & i've put money asside for all the work so that's not really the issue. (although spending a grand on my car does stick in the throat somewhat!) it's more the petrol & insurance costs. i've worked out i'll save somewhere in the region of 120 quid a month just on fuel & insurance! i know that's only 30 quid a week but when you live by yourself thats a canny bit! think i need to get married or co-habit with a female, the sacrifices i'm willing to make for this car! :lol:

i really don't relish driving any other car apart from my corrado. tbh i'm more of a biker but i just love corrados so much! was really the only car i ever wanted to own! but like dr mat says, the reality is f-n expensive! was thinking of dropping down to a g60 but have no idea of running costs & from what i've heard there's not much in it between vr's & g60's. never thought i'd hear myself say i just need a boring, reliable, cheap to run car that'll get me about!

my vr's going into the garage on tuesday for a new clutch & i'm getting the timing chains done & a top end service! obviously the huge expense of getting that done has pxxsed me off slightly but while putting my speedlines back on the car i've noticed the front discs are on the way out! i know it's not a massively expensive job to do but i'm just sick of chucking money at it! driving to & from worK through traffic isn't doing the car any good either. plus the cost of petrol & insurance & stuff i'm just thinking it might be a good time to sell the car when its had all the work done & i'll probably get a decent price for it. i know for a fact i'll regret it & i've no doubt i'll come back to a corrado at some point but my sensible side is winning the battle of wills with the non-sensible side! anyway, been looking at tdi boras & was told you can chip then. been looking at the 130bhp one but is it just as easy to chip the 115bhp ones & can they be chipped up to the same sort of bhp? also what sort of bhp can you get up to, would like as much as poss coz i'm gonna miss the poke of the vr! still in two minds what to do though but any info would be great!

that's my intentions for the next 3 days, well at least not getting out of bed till sometime in the afternoon! me thinks i'm going to be severely hung over for the next few days at least! woo hoo!

got a yam YZF 750R, not the lightest of bikes to push for 1/2 a mile! just had a couple of greggs sausage rolls & i'm getting cups of tea made for me all day as a treat so things are looking up! looking outside at the weather i don't think i'll be able to find the pub tonight, it's a proper pea souper! luckily i can smell a bar from 2 mile away! :lol:

what are the chances of getting a f-n puncture on your birthday?! jumped in the car this morning in a great mood coz it's my last day at work till next week only to get that horrible feeling that somethings not quite right with the car! had a look at the front end & noticed my front tyre is as flat as a very flat thing! no probs i thought, i'd get the old mini inflator type thingy out & have a cuppa as it's pumping it up. went back out after 5 minutes or so & the f-n thing was still totally flat! :( at this point i'm late for work in a shxt mood & ready to lash the car john cleese style! "looks like i'll have to take the bike" i thought so i heaved the heavy f-n thing out the shed, luckily it started first time after being left for a few weeks. petrol light was on but i thought i'd have enough to get to work! should of known better, ran out on the coast road about 1/2 a mile from a garage! had to push the twxt to the garage, thought i was going to collapse! finally got to work over an hour late, severely pxxsed off, all hot & sweaty & now i just want to go home! i'm sure my day can only get better & i'm going to get very drunk tonight to drown my sorrows! happy f-n birthday to me!!! :lol:
