The good and the bad of owning a 2L 16v?
Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree replied to juloesG60's topic in Engine Bay
Valvers a cack! the other half had one and it was poo! my nail of and 8v golf striped it to bits. the fuel eco was good but it rivals the 8v golf with not too much problem. dont get one, you will be sick of having to wind it up all of the time. Go for a VR and have alot of fun! -
With out! it is not right to change the C just go with a nice new BLACK one, get the larger one too they look better!

Possible Re-Spray.................Advice needed........
Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree replied to NjA666's topic in Exterior
NO idea on a sprayer in the area but you can spend shite loads on getting it sprayed. The sprayers i have been to usually say that it is going to be about £100 per pannel or around £1000-£1500 so dig deep and dust of you wallet. DONT get a friend of a freind to do it, spend good money on a good job, it will last longer and look better. With the rust around the windscreen they will have to take the screen out to cure it properly it may be worth you getting a new one ready for when they break it! -
Well up for group buy! mine is a 36 dd, do they slide on or do they have straps?

I feel that it is the "Europe" look on the C. I’m all for mods on cars but the C does not need so much work doing on it as it is 'beautiful!' The Golf is fcuking sweet. But if you like it then that is really what matters. Tell me, I had checker plating on my polo, my feet always were slipping off the pedals because my shoes where still wet, do you have that problem?

4 door = car 2 door coupes ish! I would be wrong I feel. Who really gives a shet if it is hard work to get into the back iof the car? I hardly ever see 4 people in a car anyway.

Please help me because me and water are going to fall out big time soon! Every time i clean our C i open the boot and do around the seals with the chamois, there seems to be an endless drip comming from the inside lightcluster on the boot? It is always on the drivers side. Is this another cunning VW thing that is meant to happen or is something leeking? If this is a VW thing should both sides be doing it? Please help!

Tooth brush, time and the radio! doo them first as well then you dont have to worry about getting the car dirty. I have speed lines and when i clean them i take them off and clean them on the bench! ( some people say i have too much time!)
-
Have you checked behind the door cards? sometimes the water wont run where it is ment to, (on the metal of the door) and runs down the inside of the door card. This may only be a problem if the plastic water proofing has been tampered with.

Plugs and Connectors for Sub and Amp
Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree replied to Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
WOW that is confidences for you. (Million trillion miles!) What kinda ‘ampage’ can they handle? -
I have a Sub and Amp mounted in a stealth shelf in the back of my C. The problem is when I wanna take the shelf out I need to do a lot of unscrewing. Are there any plugs or connections that can be used to simply plug in the shelf to its power supply. I have been thinking about a normal domestic three pin house plug and socket. It has all the three connections I need, Power, Earth, and the Remote. I am aware that the RCA leads would still have to be undone normally but I think that the plug and socket might work. Has anyone done this before or does anyone know of a connector that will do the job? Ta see you all at BVF!

Looks sweet dude! does the back bench have any head rests on them or are they flat? Also as there any electrics on the fronts? dang good idea! now you need to do something about those door cards!!!!!! :)

To be honest i think you do better going for something a little more expensive not loads but maybe an extra £50. That way you can get something with loads of extra goodies. My Sony has never jumped and I had that in a Mk2 golf with springs less flexible that my Gran!

Does anyone know if you can get adaptor leads for old auto changers to new head units? The CD auto changer is an old one and we may have to get a new head unit. The problem is the DIN connection lead that allow the head-unit to talk to the changer are different on the old ones in comparison to the new ones. The ‘Expert’ (16 year old boy) at the motorist centre said that the adaptor leads were £50-£100; I think that that was a load of ‘cow poo’. But I’m not the expert! Any ideas?

Can I run these speakers using this amp ?
Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Hi on the Amp does it say what the RMS value is for each channel? if it matches or is lower than what the speakers are rated to then it wil be ok to use. if the RMS value is higher than the speakers you could run the amp on them as long as it was not turned up too much on the amp. if the speakers are cheap ones anyway it does not matter. If you want really lould sound try putting you head closer to the speakers, it helps with me. :drinking: -
Hello, interesting thread I personally would go with the advise of Mr Beige, have an amp per job 1x for the sub and 1x for the mid and treble speakers. But if you are going to all this effort for some good ICE don't skimp on the speaker cables get good ones, they don't have to be pretty but the thicker the better! (remember how much space you have in the car to pull them through)

household speaker wire in car install?
Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree replied to bristolbaron's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Don't bother getting the expensive pretty looking stuff, it is 4-5 times more expensive then normal speaker cable, but don’t go for the really cack thin household bell wire either. Remember the thicker the wire the better the sound, but also bear in mind that you have to pull it through your car as well and there may not be enough space behind the stereo for it. Look for Wholesalers selling industrial speaker cable (stuff that DJ’s use on their PA) that is what I use in my van and it sounds very good but there is enough space for it. -
Good quality acoustic cloth
Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree replied to Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree's topic in Interior
I think that it may be worth getting a box for the boot instead. I saw in the forum that there is someone selling them for about 300 Boys with an 11" sub in it, looks kinda neat.
