Yes, membrane is such a dirty word so i used plastic. It is interesting what stuff you find in there!

Are they in the bottom of the door? If they are the ones i think they are then they are meant to be there. They let the water out from the door when it runs in from the window rubber. The idea is that the inside of the door has a plastic sheeting protecting the door cards from the water. The best thing you can do is remove all the dirt and crap in the door and make sure the holes vent the water away correctly. In my only golf i had to replace this sheeting. I did it with pallet-wrap/clingfilm did the job ok in the end

Why do I find the "if she tampered with" so funny?

I was in garage heven until i had to move to Bristol. @ my Peeps house i had a double garage to my self because mum could not get her camper in and Dad had a company car (it was a Laguna) I had a R/control in the car to open the door while driving and an electric switch to open the door from the house. Now I have a drive about 6ft 1 wide which takes an age to reverse onto. I think that I'm being punished for living so well before.
