  1. I'm going to get the VR pump based on what my VAG mechanic mate has just advised me.

Andy advised to get the 24v one as the spindle will be in the correct location for the belt, but apparently the VR one is identical from that respect so won't be a problem, and the presure will be correct too so no extra strain on it.

I'm not sure if the pressure is different between the 2 pumps though? Maybe Jay's was an old one that just happened to fail just after the transplant?

  2. Cluch master and slave cylinders: GSF or VAG?

Is there much difference between the 2? I don't want to buy them and find they fail in a couple of years time and have heard good and bad things about pattern parts.

    Thnaks,

  3. Hmm, well it tried 4 times to connect on most channels and it failed everytime?

I remember trying to scan the VR before stripping her and it didn't work also. It used to work but don't know what's wrong with it now.

It's a fully registered version that I bought direct from Ross-Tech too?

  4. No, it's my secret :p :)

...It was behind the panel under the steeering wheel that covers the fuses, tucked up on the right-hand side.

I couldn't scan it though for some reason so no help after all anyway :(

  5. Yep, a normal thread into the block that un-screws the normal way.

...but, the cap and bolt are/should be fixed together as one. I have tried to seperate the two but it is not possible so think yours has broken.

Your bolt must be well stuck for that to happen so not sure how your going to remove tbh.

Give it a really good soak in WD-40, leave it over night, give it a few hardish taps of a metal hammer and then see if it'll budge.

Other than that I think it'll be bumber of so you have better access to get something else into those holes other than a screwdriver.

  6. The garage that's doing my DP has just finished an 25000 Euro AGP Turbo conversion on a TT 3.2 V6 with DSG.

It's now 575 bhp and 730 Nm. They didn't touch the DSG so guess it can take the power!

  7. It's for your G60? (I didn't check your sig. 'til now)

The parts I've listed above are for a VR. I've had a quick look on ETKA and they seem to be the same size for the 4 cyl, 5 speed box, so not sure what's going on tbh.

Maybe someone with a G60 can help?

  8. Sorry, didn't realise you were waiting on a number

As far as I can work out:

    Starter motor/gearbox/block/bracket bolt: N905 729 01 (M10*160mm-V-M8*15mm)

    Gearbox/block/bracket: N101 633 01 (M12*46mm)

    Bracket/Block bolt: N040 338 1 (M12*58mm)

I would double-check these though as it's not so clear in ETKA as the numbers are different depending where you look. The sizes look good though so I hope the part numbers are also good.

  9. I will check mine tonight as I've only just put it back together again, but you are defo missing a bolt.

I found it on ETKA as I ordered all 3 bracket bolts new from VW last month, but my ETKA and VW's ETKA are not very clear on which bolts you actually need for the C and lists different numbers depending which page you look on.

That bracket is held on by 3 bolts though and if one is missing the bracket still shouldn't be able to move like that. The fact that it's moved implies one of the other bolts as also missing IIRC.

  10. Out of interest how much was that block Will?

I think it's the same one that Stan mentioned a while back. I called the guy and he said I could have it for £700, as like you say the original ebuyer pulled out. Then the 24v came along so I left it.

Hope you got a bargain then??
