sounds like the bowden cable for the screen demister has kinked thus not moving as freely as it should, not sure that these are available anymore though from the stealers, I had the same problem on my corrado (late controls) which eventually lead the the failure of the controls them-selves due to the cable not moving freely...

lovely example - just out of interest, where did you get the replacement mirror glass from? I could do with 2 new ones as they have gone a bit funny and need to lube up the mirror mechanisms as they are LOUD :)

Hi Dave - yeah, please do :) I dont think it would be too difficult to be honest, looks fairly straight forward to re-produce :) and would allow me to focus on the tank straps and mount stuff :)

is there a GB thread for these??

Not yet. Want to do a trial fit of mine but my mount has rusted away to nothing so after a template see if these can easily be fabricated up before I kick off a GB.

If anyone has a spare I could use, then I can see if I can one fabricated up.

Can anyone tell me if both brackets are the same for each side?

My first car was a Nova which i sold 10 days after passing my test, got a corsa 1.4SRI, sold that after 11 months and bought my first VR6 when I had just turned 19 :-) not cheap, but that was nearly 10 years ago, insurance is a different ball game now.

I've just called TPS, and they said they are obsolete... does anyone have any of these brackets spaire? I've managed to locate a couple of rubber mounts....

If not, i'm going to get some fabricated in stainless.

Just an update on these guys, I want to do a trail fit of these before I get more fabricated up... however I'm trying to get hold of of the mount thingy... I phoned VW and they said they are obsolete.

well, looks like i'll have to play the waiting game for a used one with the top right tab broken, or in better condition than mine. I've got a few cracks around the actual surround and 2 tabs are broke off for heater controls :(

ahhh pants, I could possily re-use the rubbers, but I only actually have 1 one the metal things as my corrado was missing one...

if anyone has any used ones, I'll just vapour blast it back to new and use that.

Will give TPS a call though just in case :)

Ahh. It's the top right that's broke on my heater controls so ideally want a surround with the same mount broke. What's the direct link to the new item you refer too?

These are the things for the radiator mounts on the late VR's but on ETKA they look different on the diagram?

Assuming there's no scratches and stuff I'll take it kadvr6. After a standard one so I can see how it looks vapour blasted before deciding weather to polish it or not.
