  1. Whoa it's off the scale now! Gonna have to kick the DB9 out of it's little safe soon...
  2. me too (and the mk1 gti - don't know what that was doing in the seriously uncool section  )
  3. Surely there would have been all sorts of warning lights/buzzers going off if the engine is getting that hot??? I find it very hard to believe anyone would drive that far in first and not notice the warnings/engine noise and not stop. It looks more like an electrical fault has caused an engine fire to me, it's one thing melting the plastic cover, but a hole in the bonnet?
  4. That's the way, never tell them how fast you were going! Also worth knowing that regular Panda cars don't have their speedo's calibrated regulary like the traffic cars so they can't be used to prove you were speeding, only the motorway/traffic patrol cars and speed camera's can give evidence against you. (100th post!)
  5. If they've got proof you were going too fast then yes it's best to own up, but if they haven't there's no point incriminating yourself unnecessarily, they can't prosecute you without evidence.
  6. Anyone see Traffic Cops the other week? There was a guy on a motorbike that got caught doing over 130mph (with a passenger) and got away with 6 points and £300ish fine! Suppose the difference was he was caught by a patrol car and was very polite, owned up and had a good attempt at persuading the copper it was safe. Seems to be a bit 'luck of the draw' with the punishment.
  7. Tremendous! :salute: Love to do that myself some day...

    constant probs

thanks for the info, I'll get the filter changed this week and pray it sorts it out, changing fuel pumps doesn't sound like fun.

    constant probs

If it's the one you can see when the cars on ramps it looks like it was changed recently. No idea about the one in the tank.
  10. Damned unlucky there Jedi, always a shame to see a nice car get smashed, good thing no-one was seriously injured that looks nasty!

    constant probs

If the fuel pump is noisy when the engine is running does that mean it needs replacing? My car feels a bit underpowered at the moment but I'd put that down to a slightly blowing exhaust, will a new fuel pump help? It idles fine btw.
  12. interesting, can't see anything wrong with that logic, maybe with some suspension work it could be made to handle better than a barge...
  13. On a related note, during one of my many daydreams at work I was wondering if it would be possible to put either the 2.7 V6 from the RS4 (380bhp) or the 4.2 V8 from the RS6 (480bhp) in a Corrado? Not that I have the money to contemplate such a beast, just curious because AMG managed to shoe-horn a 6.0 V8 into a 190e!

    Brembo brakes

lol, I'll keep pestering him... will let you know if he manages to come up with something.

    Brembo brakes

bristolbaron Just spoken to him and unfortunately he can only give discounts to trade and personal friends :( , but they can still be bought for a very good price from motorsportworld.co.uk

    Brembo brakes

One of my mates is the importer of ALL Tarox brakes in the UK, I've got some G88 discs and Rallye pads on mine - standard size but fantastic brakes! (got them for just over half the RRP :) ) He was telling me a while back that if I did the 6-pot conversion they would make it stand on its nose! (too pricey for me though, it would cost over a grand to do). If you want to go to the extreme there's a 330mm 10 pot conversion but thats close to £2000. As an idea of how good Tarox are, Audi came to them to sort out the brakes for the new RS6 because they were having a lot of trouble stopping it. (He also mentioned they built some 24-pot calipers as an experiment and are currently working on 30-pot as well!)
  17. g60greeny I know it's a photochop but damn those bonnets are hideous!! The only thing I can think of when I see them is all the chav fiesta's and escort's with their "bad boy" bonnets :pukeright: The rest of it looks mighty fine though :)
  18. Yep, click on portal (top left) and there's a poll on the bottom right of the page. Currently 42 storms/campaign and counting.
  19. You're best off replacing them both mate, I replaced only one on another car of mine and the other one broke a few months later when I was pulling into work ... wasn't a pleasant experience, the arch slams right down onto the wheel, you have no control at all and it's a royal pain in the ass to get it on a tow truck! When mine were replaced the ball-joints, steering arms and bushes were all part of one unit, cost about £60 the pair and it takes less than an hour to swap them over if it all goes well.
  20. I'll second Elephant, cheap and very easy to change your policy to include mods (all done on the website) I always have a look on the autotrader website as well because that gets quotes from all the larger insurance companies in one go, the difference is amazing between them (quotes ranging from £500-£1500 for the exact same policy)
  21. Pretty sure Mercs are galvanised as well, my '87 190 didn't have a spot of rust on it, and I can't recall seeing any others with much rust either.

    COOLING FAN

This any use, it was posted on here a while ago (try and fix you caps-lock key aswell  )
  23. There's a few little spots of rust under the corrado badge on mine, hardly what you'd call covered in it though!

    Tyres

Yep you can't go wrong with the F1's! One of my best mates was manager of the local tyre place until last month (he's now training to be a plumber) and said the T1-R is supposedly slightly better but because it's so new there's no real information on how they last long term so it's better to stick with the F1's for now. The reason T1-S's aren't as good in the wet after a few months is because they're a harder compound, so whilst you'll get an extra 6000 miles or so more from them over F1's you won't get anything like the level of grip. The only reason my car has them on now is because it already had two on the front so I put new ones on the rears to make them all match (and I could get them for £27 a corner fitted 8) ) Oh, and avoid Michelin, my year out from Uni was spent working for a rubber chemicals company that sold to all the major tyre manufacturers and Michelin bought the cheap "seconds" that non of the other majors wanted!
  25. If it's had non-standard suspension put on then it will definately need the camber/castor/tracking setting up, this usually costs £70-100. I had a similar problem with mine pulling right (see a couple of threads down) and it turned out the track-rod ends and anti-roll bar bushes were fecked and the camber, castor and tracking were all miles out. It was only fixed yesterday though so it's hard to say for sure if it's all sorted now, I'll be taking it back next week to make sure it's still all where it should be.
