  1. Rpmayne, how badly does your steering feel with the dodgy wheel bearing? One of mine is on its way out and the steering is getting really crap, tramlines over everything, it feels like it's a mile out of track, but I had that done a few weeks ago after replacing the steering arms/bushes/ball joints.
  2. ahh, that makes more sense. OT - no doubt you hear it all the time, but thats an absolutely awesome car you've got there Renshaw, couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw the pics of it (and the TVR one)! Simply stunning workmanship.
  3. here's the direct link for those having trouble (3.8Mb), right-click -> save as bad drift
  4. F/I - fuel injection? Sure I heard somewhere that those massive back boxes actually make the car slower because you lose back pressure (might just be on the little chav wagons with their 1.2's though)
  5. that poor audi! Looks like it's wearing eye-shadow over its headlights :?
  6. I suspected as much, but the amount of scoobys and evo's that have them as well made me wonder if it was something to do with the turbo's working better with bigger bore pipes. Plus I know a guy who put a big bore back box on his rover 220 turbo shed that swore blind that it made it faster ... (to which my reply was, "oh really" )
  7. beautiful car, but why the UPS colour and decals? Is it sponsored by them or something? Also, presumably this car is 400bhp+ and yet has from what I can see has a standard looking exhaust, so why do similar powered skylines and supras usually have massive dustbin sized tailpipes?
  8. silver H reg in Exeter outside PC world / hellfrauds, no badge on the grill so not sure if it was a g60/16v
  9. I wasn't planning on getting one because I always thought they were very overpriced for what they are (don't hate me but I was really after a 90's v-tec prelude), and group 17 for a 2.0 16v seemed somewhat OTT. But then my friend in the trade had one for what seemed a good price, so I took it for a test drive, loved the handling, bit underwhelmed with the performance, but what sold it for me was when I drove it past a group of lads on a street corner and they gave me the thumbs up. I was chuffed, so I bought it! :) Oh and the spoiler as well, very cool, I love watching people's faces behind me when they see it going up or down.
  10. Just seen a nice standard looking purple (blackberry?) VR6 in Exeter King William car park - N111COR, parked my black valver 2 cars down but it was still there when I left, any takers?
  11. Well, it went for the test today and passed! With only an advisory about the exhaust blowing. Don't know if the tester spotted the weeping shock or buckle on the rear wheel or not ... I was going to mention it to him, but thought better of it!
  12. Nice! Mine only turns itself on maybe once or twice a week for a mile or two then disappears. I know its game though ... it'll wait until the testers watching and then flash him! :x
  13. Looks like a quick wipe of the shock, a bit of exhaust sealant and send it in a week or two early and hope for the best, hopefully it'll pass ... if that damned abs light behaves itself that is!
  14. I know it's not ideal, especially going round high speed bends where it's a bit bouncy, but I've only had the car since June and unfortunately it's needed quite a few other things doing that were more important than a weeping shock (the front brakes were nearly metal on metal, front steering bushes were shot, 4xtyres, cambelt service, etc). Hopefully there will be some HK coilovers going on soon which will sort out that problem (and the horrendously high ride height!) Normally I'd get rid of a car that cost so much to run but it's my first Corrado and I love it!
  15. Thanks for the quick replies fellas! Looks like a trip to Longlife for a custom exhaust is in order then, and pray for a lenient tester, cos I can't afford a custom exhaust and coilovers at the moment. (Replaced the front brakes this week with Tarox G88 discs and Tarox Rallye pads - can highly recommend these btw).
  16. MOT is due soon and the exhaust is blowing a bit in the middle, anyone know if this is a failure or advisory? Also, is a leaking shock (N/S/Front) a failure?
  17. No way, Pacers are great, I've had a soft spot for them ever since Wayne's World came out. Bit cliche but the most beautiful is the Aston DB9. Ugliest has to be this monstrosity!
  18. On the way to work I did 60 in 5th and it was bang on 2750rpm (standard 2.0 16v)
  19. Speaking of nova's I saw a white convertible nova saloon driving out of town on friday, had to check my rear view as I went past to make sure I wasn't hallucinating! But no, there it was a nova ...... convertible :pukeright: didn't even know they existed, or WHY they existed? And the driver had the top down as if they were proud of their rusty old rag top (even had black plastic bumpers)!
  20. Not sure how rare they are but when I lived up north there was a guy down the road with an old Datsun 240z, only one I've ever seen. Oh, and there's a garage about 1/2 a mile from me that has a DeLorean sat in the window (not for sale, just sat there looking cool), nice motor but a bit of a let down when you sit in it and realise there's no flux capacitor behind the seats :(
  21. £20.60 eh :x That means the vibration damper thingy made it cost an extra £40 ... man I hate the stealers! As far as I know the timing wasn't advanced or anything before I had it fixed cos it was running fine, but the pulley wobbled more than this smiley -> which was then messing up all the surrounding belts. I was pretty lucky with mine though, got it in June with 140k but it was lady owned, completely standard and the engine runs fantastically considering the miles, just makes a tappety noise for the first mile or two then it sounds like new 8)
  22. I'm no great expert on the 156, but as far as I'm aware the only leather in them is MOMO, which has got the Alfa Badge on the seat backs. They are beautiful seats though and well worth a go if you don't mind the badge, you might even be able to bodge some leather GTV rears in the back!
  23. Sweet Jesus those things are pricey! I bought my BBS's for £60 inc centre caps and tyres, makes me worried about leaving them on if any chavs find out how much they're worth!
  24. Did you get that crank pulley? I bought one from the stealers for my 1993 16v last month and it cost £63.73 inc.vat! Had to get it imported from Germany as apparantly it was the only one left anywhere in Europe!?! Something about a vibration damper made it an unusual part I believe, all I know is it was wobblin about like a spinning top running out of puff and didn't look safe.
  25. Hmm, if it's the MOMO leather ones I wouldn't bother, the Alfa Romeo badge imprinted on the front seats really wouldn't look right in a VW. Nice seats though.
