Looks like I have this leak - Can I buy the part sepaeratly or do I need a new rad? Anyone with ETKA got a part number for the angled housing?
-
fancy doing mine too..... mine is different shades of aqua blue on one side and the bonnet to the rest of the car :(
-
Reggit - that would be great - PM sent. No response from Alpha-bid so far :( have you exchanged emails sterrick?
-
I tried my USB to serial converter to no avail. Also tried a different computer and tried it in my sisters Fabia, still doesn't work. Must be the cable then AAARGH. Good job I haven't left feedback yet, lets see if Alpha-bid will replace.
-
yeah i've heard of people denting the cover a bit to get the cap on mk3 golfs i'm sure.
-
I'm in Lancaster. Still not managed to get mine working - I'm hving difficulty finding another laptop with a serial port! Going to try a USB-Serial adaptor tomorrow, and will sneak out to my sister's fabia and try that too. Looks like if there is a problem with the cable we have the same ones - does yours have both the 2x2 plug and the newer plug like mine?

Won the one on ebay, cheers for the heads up.

LOL -I can't really go lower or else it won't get in the garage. I don't think the council will take too kindly to me making a big concrete ramp over the pavement. Am just loving driving it as it is at the mo - Although it really is practically impossible to stick to 70 in it on the motorway. More likely than not it will stay standard :thumbleft:

Bought this recently - VR6, 101k miles, full VAG service history and almost new Yokohamas. Its a bit faster than my 8v golf  Extra "tractor" ride height caused by the angle of the road / garage interface, I have to use a wooden ramp on the drivers side to get it in! No mods planned apart from possible suspension and wheels in the spring.

sterick - I'm having exactly the same problem witha 2x2 cable, I had put it down to my laptop and was hoping to try another laptop this weekend. I bought mine from ebay seller alpha-bid Let me know if you solve it and I'll do the same!

Sorted some 2nd hand Vibe sa50 components for £30. Just gotta install them now!
-
The rest of my car isn't "Bling" enough for that, and isn't ever going to be..... I'll just keep my eyes open for a standard one. Cheers for the link though!

Heh, panic over, its an ABV. Would like a correct cover, but i'll make do without if they are £50! Am a bit surprised really, would have thought a car with full VAG history would have a correct one if the dealer broke it? Maybe had someone else work on the car at some point  Or would they only be able to get a 2.8 one if I tried to order one?!
-
Ha! OK- new to all this and not an audio enthusiast, just want to get the best set up for the little cash I have to splash on speakers. Will keep my eyes open for some knocked down JBLs, otherwise I'll go with the alpines if ppl think they will be better than full range jobs at the price.

Found a set of Boschmann RV-5200XT components (mids / tweeters and xovers) for £35 on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5829052914 I'm on a tight budget for speakers, was going to just get 5.25" full range jobs but was advised to go for components even at this price. Can anyone tell me if these are going to be better than the Alpine SXE-1350S components which can be had on ebay for the same money? I was told the Alpines are rubbish because they have plastic "housing" instead of metal. The choice at the mo is the Boschmann or the Alpines or a set of full range 5.25" at similar money.

Bought a 1993 VR6 recently, and only just noticed the plastic engine cover says "VR6 - 2.8" on it, too busy checking other bits out to notice a bit of plastic! Now I suspect the original engine cover has been broken and replaced with this golf(?) one which must have been lying around at the time (and incidentally has a crack in it). The car is defo a UK car and has full VW service history to now (101k miles!) with no record of a replacement engine. So VW must have broken both covers..... I am also a little disturbed that VW serviced it recently and didn't replace the very noisy belt tensioner bearing (on my to-do list). How do you tell the difference between a 2.8 and 2.9? Are the engine codes different? where can I find the code? Just wanna check to make sure I have a 2.9!

er could do but would prefer not to.... no-one know then?!
-
yep its been determined before they are bulbs.... Just need to know if anyone has a part number to save me a bit of hassle!
-
Seems my full beam headlight blue indicator bulb has blown. Does anyone know the right item I need from halfords/ anywhere else? I would prefer to know before I take the clocks out because then I can get to halfords to buy another without cadging a lift!

I nearly fell over when adrian flux gave me a quote. £438 for a corrado Vr6 TPFT 6k miles, me with 2yr ncb and age 24. a clear £200 cheaper than anyone else, not sdure how they worked it out!
-
any ideas on location in a corrado before I start the hunt!? could it be located anywhere?!
-
Fitted to my new Corrado is a TOAD alarm, and my insurance requires I have an immobiliser fitted. Now my insurance company want to know the make and model of it, and if it is an alarm with immobiliser (they dont seem bothered about thatcham certification?) Now all I know is that its a TOAD brand, the key fob has 2 buttons, and the siren is black and green. Its full closure ie if you leave the windows open it will shut em for you. Does anyone know how I would go about finding what it is? Will there be a black box somewhere with the model convieniently stuck to it? Help! before I get yet an another immobilser fitted to appease the insurance co.
-
surely this is a compliment to the corrado? All i've read about the new coupe is that it drives really well, is it so hard to imagine that Hyundai can produce a dynamically comparable car to a 15 year old VW? Ok I wouldn't have one based on the looks and the fact its a hyundai, call me a snob if you like but it doesn't stop it being a good car.

er they don't use pure magnesium, They use a magnesium alloy, which makes lighter wheels for the same strength as those cast from aluminium alloy, but the material is more expesive. I very much doubt they are illegal?! see http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/11154374/Magnesium_Alloy_Wheel.html They make some high-end mountain bike frames (scandium ones) from magnesium-alloy (and some naff ones - remember the kirk revolution??) To answer your question, speedlines are cast from an aluminium-alloy.
