  1. A local VSIB installer has signed off systems for me in the past for £20, so I hope it won't be a problem. Thinking of a Toad (sterling?) Excel transponder system, theres a toad total closure alarm fitted to my C but it doesn't have immobiliser for some reason :s Lottsy - have you got any recommendadtions on where to interrupt the wiring looms? I'm not going for maximum security here - just enough to please a VSIB installer should it need to be inspected.
  2. I'm competant with electrics, having previously done some domestic stuff and fault finding on cars. I need an immobiliser fitted to my car - the insurance co don't care what type (it doesn't have to be cat 2). I was thinking, rather than pay £125 to have one fitted, why not get a CAT 2 transpoder immob off ebay for ~£50 and have a go myself? It looks easy - just wire to power and ground and then cut the fuel pump relay wire and starter wires behind the fuse box and wire to the immob circuits. Any tips on doing this? Would this pass a Cat 2 inspection by a VSIB installer later if I change insurance co's? Any tips for passing this inspection?! I really hate these things, but If I can install it my self I can remove it easily enough. My car looks to have had 2 of these fitted and removed previously. I have read these insturctions - i guess other brands are the same? http://www.microscanalarms.co.uk/pages/mi600install.pdf
  3. the slave is outside the casing - hence no fluid can get into the clutch. Your clutch should be fine, just swap the slave (or the hose if its that thats leaking) for a new one and drive off....
  4. Ok the dealer got there in the nd, I just hope its the right part. £73 ex vat mind! unbelievable.
  5. Um hate to be a pain in the arse but no 23 is the 90 deg elbow. I'm after the actual coolant hose connecting the block to the rad and T ing off to the expansion bottle. (as well at the seal under the 90 deg elbow highlighted).
  6. Cheers! I can see from that the gasket im on about is 531 121 687 "round seal" Just one thing - Is the hose the same part number as before??? looks different and isn't on the 2nd screenshot
  7. Um there is a 90 degree elbow coming off the top of the rad, the gasket goes under it. That pic is different to my car - the hose is different too. Mine is a 93 but it is a coilpack car - that one looks like a distributer? can you see for later cars? Thanks!
  8. My top coolant hose (the one that T's off to the expansion bottle among others) has split. I'm going to ring the dealer tomorrow to order another - can anyone find me the part number as the the parts guy at my dealer is useless from previous experience. Also need a gasket for the top of the rad (to go under the 90 degree elbow which connects to the top hose). Cheers, Will.
  9. Yeah - my tensioner bearing was making a horrific noise at 103k - took a look and the actual bearing had seized leading the the pulley spinning around the bearing and melting away - I got it just in time. My belt was very old and decrepit looking, so I changed it too. Easy job and they are only about £15 or so.
  10. Because cars used to have strong beam axles running between the wheels - and you'd position the axle stands under the axles. Nowadays no cars run beam axles (except the likes of land rovers) we all have independant suspension setups, I normally jack my c up one side at a time....
  11. Just don't let on how much you paid for it and then try and sell it at the going rate or you'll get abuse.

    Tan Leather

Yeah a retrim - I've shelved the idea of buying used Leather for £750 when you can get a good full retrim for a grand - http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25125 Was just thinking of something different. I once test drove an Alfa GTV V6 in black with a tan interior, and I still half regret not buying it :? A20 LEE's interior goes well with a black car - I'm just not sure how a burgundy or tan interior would look with aqua blue. hmmmm

    Tan Leather

Any one got pics of a C with a tan leather retrim? I'm not sure it will work with aqua blue... red and black cars look well with it, eg http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 4628240711
  15. Cheers - they look god in 16" thats what I wanted to see. Can't be any harder to keep clean than the mint BBS RA's I had on my old MK2 Golf GTI?! NickRStorm - what size tyres are they?
  16. The ones that came on MK3 Golf Anniversary models awere all 16" and can be picked up pretty cheaply for BBS split rims.
  17. Yep. have never seen them on a C - They always look a little undersized on a Golf but with lower profile tyres on a C I think they would look good?
  18. Yep - my VR was CAT-D due to damage to inner and outer wing and bonnet. I have a copy of the full inspection that was done - i.e. it showed it had passed an alignment check and stated all the bits that were damaged and in need of replacement (just panels, paint and persuation of inner wing). The look on my friends faces when I mentioned its a write off at high speed was quite funny tho. Is a very good way of picking up good motors for a bit less money. In fact I doubt I'd ever buy anything else now - theres so much to save. I bought mine repaired, but I would consider repairing basic bodywork myself in future (swapping panels etc). In fact I'm considering a Lotus Elise in need of another clamshell at the moment (paint and bolt off, bolt on).
  19. I reckon they look mint dirty in these pics on a blue car: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 964#365964 If you could get close to that look it would be cool! I don't think the two tone speedlines would look good at all though!
  20. Anyone got any pics? Am tempted by a set on german ebay! Correct PCD and offset for a C.

    Rad Leak

Thats the number for the whole 90 degree elbow assembly is it? Mines cracked due to a previous owner over tightening. Would I need to flush the cooling system after replacing this or would the air work its way out of its own accord? How easy it is to get that hose clip off? are they reuseable or will the new elbow come with a new one?? Sorry for all these q's I don't have ETKA :)
  22. Looks like they are making a new discovery pickup? Whats that all about?!
  23. It seems that the non cat test can be applied to any car of any age with a non OE fitment engine!!
  24. durrrrrrrrrr Main dealer got me one part number 357 919 062 £3.18 Maplins ones were a different voltage.
