Little point unless its gone bang or uses too much oil / down on power? Some have done 200k without a rebuild. I'd be tempted to do a 24v conversion for that - more modern smoother engine etc Search on here a few have had it done.

how much £££ for a 24v conversion stan?

auxiliary serpentine belt tensioner bearing. search on here - £70 ish for a new tensioner, or get the diy tools out and replace just the bearing.

New to ICE - need advice on discrete sub box and amp
was8v replied to was8v's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Maybe its just the bass at high volume that is causing my distortion? If I run the option in the headunit to have an 80khz filter, it goes loud enough without distorting (but obviously without any bass). So am thinking I may be happy enough just running the sub out from the headunit to a small amped sub, leaving the components and rears powered from the headunit. Like I say, I'm no conoisseur of ICE, I just want it to keep sounding as good, but a little louder :? -
So I went from an ICE sceptic to where I am now... I had a naff 4x45W Panasonic CD player, hooked up to some VIBE Sa-K50 85W rms components in original locations - tweeters in dash (and Alpine 6x4 in the back) and thought wow these speakers make a helluva difference to SQ - but the amp caused distrotion at "loud" volumes, I wanted it to be a bit louder! now I've upgraded to a Pioneer DEH-P77MP headunit, thinking it would put out more volume being 4x50W and a much higher quality headunit. However I'm a bit dissapointed. I suppose the next step is to amp the setup? and a small sub for a bit more bass. Any recommendadtions for cheapish Amps and a sub enclosure like this audioscape one fro a Mk2 - Will this solve my audio worries or will I always be looking for more? am I correct in thinking the limitation (distortion at "loud" volumes) is caused by the Amp in the Pioneer headunit, so adding an amp will improve it - or is the limitation in my components?

Anyone got pics of Porsche 928's on a corrado?

Yeah, you'll need to remove the wheels first tho

Dont think this arguement stands up cos he would be wearing extra clothing in those conditions! Anyway I don't believe you can get that good at handling a snowmobile in England... so I don't believe its the same bloke.

all fiat cinquencentos and seiscentos have metal tanks. I was surprised too.

NOOO! do a search on here for insurance companies, I only pay £430 for a VR6 at age 24 with adrian flux

The tank is defo steel. I've spotted a cheap new one on ebay, gonna tell him to get that. In the meantime he has got some of that petro patch to stop it leaking! cheers guys.
-
your car was on ebay for a grand! Just missed buying it myself - you beat me to it! I was going to swap interiors and sell it on tho....You got a bargain with that interior, sorry I can't help!
-
a mate just text me: "do you know if theres a paste that dries hard on cars? the petrol tank is leaking but u can see where its leakin from, only a small hole" Before I mock him, is there anything? I would think all that can be done is weld it up (making sure fumes are cleared first...) or fit another tank. Its a cinquencento btw.... gonna be cheapest to fit another tank methinks.

i couldn't believe my eyes when he did all that work, then decided to slap those arches on.....

Cheapest I found is GEM assist - only £28 for basic roadside, and 70 for full bells and whistles - give em a go: GEM motoring assist and if you sign up with that link i get a little help with my bill.

I read that the Karmann factory paint was crap anyway - so most will have had some paint work.

I thought the cat requirement came in sometime in 1993? you need an MOT tester to look it up.

I quizzed him extensively before I bought the 8v digifant chip. He said it was a copy of a belgian tuner's chip (maybe he has access to the source?), wouldn't say anymore. It honestly improved the driveability of the digifant - he explained that the chip polled the sensors more frequently so gave a smoother drive. Not sure on the power gains (would anyone notice 5bhp?) but it defo increased the rev limit. Might be worth a punt at £30, would like to see a rolling road comparison though, since the VR is already pretty smooth and doesn't feel like it needs the rev limit raising! EDIT: he offers money back after 7 days so no risk really??!
-
I had a chip from this seller for my Digifant 8v GTI, after fitting it definatly drove smoother and the rev limit was raised. Not sure if there was any more power, but driveability was better. He has them for VR6's now - has anyone tried one? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 4605927116

I heard (prob on here) that a healthy VR will pass the emissions test without a CAT. Surely thats all the computerised MOT link up needs to see to allow the car to pass? So long as you have a relatively friendly tester who will ignore the physical absence of a CAT.
