Critical_Mass replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
How are you VR guys/gals getting such good MPGs? :confused4: -
Has your 'rado been mistaken for anything?

Had a bloke at work say to me 'Is that your Audi in the carpark' eerrrr no..... hang on do you mean the burgundy (bordeaux) Volkwagen... its a corrado. He replied with 'Oh it looks like one of those Audi Coupes' - have to agree, from a distance it does  -

33mpg and thats with a very light foot, but only on a 15 mile journey. 38mpg is impressive for a VR :D -
m becoming very interested in getting myself some 263s. So what is involved in fitting some 263s, inlet off, rocker cover off..... what else? Anything to note in regards to ensuring timing is correct when new cams are fitted. Sorry for the question, but this isnt something i've done before, saying that would it be better to get them fitted by a mechanic and how much £/hour would that be?

The cluster has a pin either side of it at the bottom, which as you've noticed sits on a point that allows it to pivot. Do as easypops and lower the steering wheel. Then tilt the cluster forward it should then come out.

Yes indeed its to do with the engine. I had same problem on my VR. If its fixed suspension theres nothing much you can do about it. I had coilovers so adjusted the height slightly.
-
Yup they should do the job mate.
-
Got any links mate, im lazy and cant be ass'd to search ebay.
-
 that hilarious! The difference between that and other examples where people do craaazy things like this, is that its better then the original not worse.
-
Alot, almost as much as the entire exhaust system ~£300, still cheaper than the vw one though. How long is the CAT, is it longer then a standard CAT - looks it.
-
How much was the sports cat?
-
My better half says i've spent enough on it... Car £3000 reconditioned engine/clutch/labour £3300 Cheap coilovers - £300 (booooo) Springs/shocks - £100 KW Coilovers - £700 (money well spent) 6 branch - £60 (bargain) rear disc/pads - £100 4 tyres - £220 16" alloys - £320 smoked rear lights - £50 heater controls - £40 paint £20 heat warp and silicone - £100 Battery £70 £8380 Thats the first time i've added it all up and im quite shocked.

Can I buy the drivers seat. Don't worry about cleaning it or anything. Want to preserve the taste. :)

 Its the only hope us non aircon owners have :( But yeah i do wish i had aircon, yesterday was terrible both windows and sunroof wide open (yes slid back, i feel sorry for you guys who only have tilt and no aircon). The worst thing is, the blower is just blowing warm air :( I drive with my arm out the window
-
Well it cant be the valve seals as the reconditioned engine as done less then 10k. Its got a Supersprint exhaust and a raceland 6 branch on. You can actually hear it more coming from the manifold and not the back box.

I think David meant, nope to the foglight question  This may help http://www.ukmot.com/mot_check.asp

Anyone at all :?
-
Anyone willing to give any indication if theres a problem. The manifold never used to pop.
-
Anyone care to give some advice or opinion on any part of this?
-
Just had a little check under the bonnet and found that the coolant reservoir cap was loose to say the least, a bad enough mistake on my part. This would probably explain the highish temps as the system wouldnt have pressurised. Though, there is still the other possible problem i may have...

Yet another VR power issue. Over the last few days i've noticed my VR doesnt seem as keen to get going, its almost as if its holding back. I have also noticed over the last few months that on overrun theres always a popping coming from the exhaust, which im lead to believe is unburnt fuel leaving the combustion chamber and entering the manifold where it will ignite, hence the popping. I layed next to the car today and revved the car a bit and let the revs settle, the popping IS coming from the manifold. Also if i rev the engine gradually, its almost as if there are is a double revving noises not just the one.... hard to explain so sorry that confuses you - possible slight misfire??? Could these 2 occurences be connected. Possible coil pack or cam sensor on their way out? VAG-Com isnt picking anything up from the Cam sensor, but i've also read on here that it wont necessarily show on vag com. Also, another potential issue. The water temps generally sit at 90 but will occasionally rise to 100 but will go back down. The oil temperature however has been sitting around 112-114 degrees lately. But this could be the hot weather, but then i dont really notice the fans come on that often. Though when i was running the car tonight they did come on.... for about 5 seconds, then went off again :confused4: Am i just being paranoid? Would it be worth changing the coilpack or cam sensor?

That looks more like bordeaux  Flash red is does look slightly orangy to me.
-
YES! Sounds awesome without the cold air feed pipe.

VR? Is so it sounds about right, mine was up to 114 yesterday in the heat.
