VR not starting! - Crank sensor not getting power!
Critical_Mass replied to Niges16V's topic in Engine Bay
OR knock the old one out with a hammer and screwdriver and cable tie the new one in. The amount of time i tried getting to that little screw, even with a bent screwdriver, proved near impossible. I did the above in the end. PLUS if it needs doing again at all, itll be a 2 min job. -
Nice one, whats the level like?
-
Yeah i think it is a litre difference. You'll only be putting 0.25 of a litre LESS in, so you should be nicely just below the mark.
-
Im not sure what the difference is between the min and max marks. But I think you should be within the marks.

3.5L without oil filter change or 4L with new oil filter

Why are VRs so cheap at the moment!?
Critical_Mass replied to yorkshireone's topic in General Car Chat
We were discussing that at work last week. So, on another note not related to VR prices - WHY did they get rid of Wispa Bars  YUM! -
Thats what i wanted to hear. Only anoth 3 weeks or so :D How much did the engine cost you, how long did you have to wait for it to be delivered and did you have to get it from holland?
-
 that would be a funny sight to see

I dunno, Ferrari already seem to make the rules as they want them anyway so it would be better if they didnt get both championships. Maybe so, but Raikonnen doesnt appear to try and shaft his team mate. Anyway its not over yet, this last race is going to be exciting/nail biting.
-
I think mine was the new style.
-
tbh id rather Raikkonen win the championship then Alonso, IF Hamilton doesnt.

Is anyone willing to give me some help/advice? Oh and Jim, i contacted the place i got the kit from. I gave them the number on the springs, they seem to think i HAVE been sent the wrong springs. They're going to sort it for me.

Odd sounds after fitting suspension - UPDATE, ARB
Critical_Mass replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Drivetrain
Had same with mine. When id fitted my front suspension, the top plates seem to turn and tilt when the steering wheel is turned. Not sure if that is right, as i never got a response. Any ideas? Sorry to thread jack. -
Just watched Hamiltons misfortune in the race. Why oh why didnt the team bring Hamilton a couple of laps earlier. I really hope Hamilton brings it to Alonso.

Theres a few grilles on ebay as we speak.

Bump guys... Any ideas about the top mounts twisting, could do with knowing if they are suppose to do this when the wheel is turned?
-
Scirroco, isnt that an old passat? There one that parks outside the Halfords near me. Its brown but in not so good nick.
-
yogintour - had same problem with my car. Sometimes was ok other times i turn the key and everything dies EVERYTHING. Had a fiddle with the battery connectors and it was fine. Check for loose battery connectors.

I've always been advised to decline the first offer, at least. Wouldnt harm to get some example out of the autotrader or like for similar spec'd priced corrados.

Ditto mate, ditto. I didnt think they'd be that low either, thats whats made me question it all. Looks possibly more like a 60mm drop. Ive contacted the supplier i bought them off (performance 3000) to query the springs with them. Though, i do quite like the look but want to find out cos its bothering me a bit, probably because its lower then i was expecting. Any ideas about the top mounts twisting, could do with knowing if they are suppose to do this when the wheel is turned.

lo matey, I'd definately recommend the FK lowering springs and shockers mate, a bargin at the price they were and a good make and quality too! But like you say not sure what the 40mm drop would be like with 17s. Have a look on the "show us your drops" thread. I did buy some lowering springs but as the responses in this thread have said new shorter shockers would be needed, so i got rid of them on ebay (sold today actually). I assume you were referring to these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-MK2-3-Cor ... dZViewItem Another thread came up asking about these, and im sure the original poster was told they should be ok, but again they may have had shorter shockers. I wasnt sure about the colour of my rado when i bought it but ive grown to love it, looks great when washed and polished up. Any ideas regarding the top mounts twisting when the wheel is turned?
-
Anyone, please? Even if its just to say no -40mm is suppose to be that low and then me to stop going on  Ill measure from floor to arch when i get a chance.

BUMP.....

UPDATE - for those who wanted to see what the shockers looked like fitted here are a few pics ( and a few questions). Sorry its taken so long to update but had other things going on that stopped me from fitting the fronts sooner. My 1st question is - does the front look too low for a -40mm drop, or does it look about right? Personally i thought it looked too low for -40mm, though it does look cool and no rubbing etc going on. I also think the back could do with taking down a peg but im not sure the bottom spring disc will clear the tyres if i take it down a groove. 2nd question - Anyone else had issues with the top mounts inside the engine bay, theres a slight gap.( EDIT - read around and found that this is normal and nothing to worry about) But the related Q regarding the top mounts : Are the top mount discs inside the engine bay suppose to turn a bit when the wheel is turned and even tilt opposite of each other depend if wheel is turned left or right? Everything has been tightened up. The Drivers side (whole car) is sitting slightly lower then the passenger side too but only noticeable when measured about half inch higher. 3rd question - The second bolt that sits inside the rubber top mount, is it possible to over tighten that nut and compress the spring a bit, thus could lead to the car being too low as per question 1. Cheers guys Let me know what you think, im not 100% sure myself at the mo, could do with some reassurance. Gaz.

The diagram does imply the bumpstop be on top of the bellows. But im pretty certain it should be under it, with the bellows covering it. Suprised no one else has been to advise you. I would refit imo, the bump stop will work better if its under the bellows. Just finished suspension last night, not sure if im happy with the result. Will post pics in existing thread.
