No mate, sounds reasonable. I have LEDs already, they've just been sat waiting to be done, but after doing the heated window and fog light cluster switches ive not been motivated to do the rest, especially after giving the window switch an attempt. Id def be interested in getting the window switches done as its a pain in the ass unsoldering the connections just ot get to the gubbins... ive made a mess of the passenger one. Needs doing properly. How much you thinking?

Sorry that was meant to say my paint work WOULDNT make it a minter haha. Its not that im going to run it into the ground, didnt mean it to sound like that, rather keep it running for as long as possible with no worry of resale price. IF it turns out i cant afford to run it then i will sell it on so someone else can keep it on the road.

Personally i dont care as i love it anyway and enjoy driving it. If its worth more money in years to come so be it. But im planning on running it until it dies so resale value is irrelevant. Plus it depends on the definition of "good ones". I mean mine is by no means a dog, but the paint work wouldnt make it a minter as there are scuffs, scratches and blemishes all over it. But i still expect it to be around in 10 years time

Probably a wise decision mate. No point in ploughing (and it could well be ploughing) money into a car youre going to sell a year later. Best save the cash for one youre going to keep. :D

Cheers Dragon, thats good to hear. i'll cut the end of the pipe off tomorrow. Prob the best temp solution. I really should change the thread title to "well hidden water leak" as opposed to "phantom"... it was only buy luck that i spotted the small dribble of water. There was no steam at all.

Cheers Owen! Can you tell how i remove the bl00dy thing? cant seem to get to the nuts thats holding to the bracket. I got the expansion tank off, sealed the bottom pipe outlet and filled with boiling water.... no leaks. Anyway, the short story. Turns out the top rad hose has a 5mm long split in it just before it meets the thermostate housing. So as a temp measure ive wrapped it in the coolant hose tape i bought when another hose spit awhile ago.. nothing to say it will hold it. But if it stems it a bit until i can get a hose. Yeah i can believe that. One that split in the past cost £45! :-/ I dunno how they come up with that price. I'll hold out for a second hand one for now. Im always a believer in buying new when it comes to things like this as you dont know how long a second hand one will last. BUT.. i dont really want to spend £56 on a new one at the mo.

Right, i think its a cracked header tank. The water only seems to drop down below a certain level, but low enough for the light to flash on the dash. I also only think it leaks when hot, as im guessing the head tank being under pressure will expand a little and then the crack is opened opened up allowing water to come out. So, once the car cools down i'll take the header tank off and have a look. Is there anything i can do to temporarily fix it, until i can get a new one hopefully monday. ---------- Post added at 01:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ---------- By the way is the head tank just attached to a bracket and 2 hoses? From when i looked yesterday there was no traces of a leak around the thermo housing, or anywhere else for that matter. There was no signs of any steam either, not even a slight trace. Which is hte second water pump, is that the one that sits on the top right of hte engine near the header bottle?

Really? i thought the third one was quite disappointing and nowhere near as good as the first 2. Still was enjoyable but wasnt what i was expecting going by the first 2 films Went to see Inbetweeners the movie last night. Very funny, usually a series made into a film is a flop but this was as good as the series. Loved it. 9/10

James thanks for the tip. Fla - thanks. I suspect its the seal because when i changed the rad, one think i forgot to note was the rad switch - i should have replaced it. SO when i took it off the seal was more destroyed. So i replaced it with a random O ring i got from B&Q. So i suspect its not been up for hte job and given up the ghost. My fault really but at the time i just needed the car back on the road. I will look here first. Cheers fellas.

Cheers guys ill get it checked out today. Ive got a feeling, if it is leaking from one of the temp sensors, it'll be the rad switch. No problem. At the end of the day its your choice, but thats my opinion on the matter.

Id say £750 was a little high too, maybe more around the £500 mark. Seriously, save your money and go for the VR you eventually want as buying and keeping the valver for a year will be a waste of money.

The one on the thermostat housing?

Though i think his plan was to get an VR after a year. So if he got the VR in the first place he'd be keeping it long term. IMO i wouldnt get a Corrado just for a year as you'll spend more cash on it sorting problems out, just to sell it. You're best off playing the long game and getting a Corrado you're willing to throw a little cash at to sort the inevitable problems out.
