2 miles to work - get a bike mate :D I get ~28 around town etc even giving it some boot. Longer runs i get around 32. But seem to hit a wall around 32mpg, even with really careful driving. God knows how some of you guys get 35-40. But as above, they're meant to be driving hard. Though Im going to get the words "i need to go to the petrol station" put on my gravestone

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

I nearly fell over reading that. -
 oldies ;) Nah cant knock you for it, see where you're coming from.

Really???? Im confused, surely he cant mean the stub axle as it sounds like he's on about the disc to me The stub axle isnt attached to the wheel. The disc sits on the axle on the bearings in the disc and then the wheel attaches to the disc. The only threaded holes on the stub axle are to attach it to the trailing arm. Jonathan, where did you get the new stubs from for £25, ive been quoted £70 each!

Really Jim? Its rather quiet when just toddling along, but i find it roars nicely when you floor it. :D

I believe there is someone wanting to swap a standard box for a BMC, whether thats them wanting the BMC or standard box i dont know, you'll have to read the post :D I dont think the BMCs are car specific rather size. I think there's only 2 types. One for 1.3

Yeah new discs is what you need, replace the bearings at the same time, maybe even pads. You'll have to do both sides though if you're replacing the disc, so may as well do pads and bearings on both sides too. EDIT - sorry just read its the same problem on both sides. So do new discs and bearings on both sides and pads if you wish - may as well seen as everything is off the car.

As Swompy said its more about the induction noise than the exhaust sound. If you want more induction noise then the BMC CDA is the way to go!

No the light should come on when you start the car then go off after a few seconds. It shouldnt come back unless there's a fault. Is the sensor sat close enough to the rotor as i think distance between the rotor on the back of the disc and the sensor can cause it to throw a fault.

What was number one when your Corrado was new?

04/6/93 - Ace of Base, All that she wants. Used to love that song. :) -
They are stock shocks though, are they not?
-
Looks about right imo. I thought you were going to say the fronts as the lighter fronted valvers and G60 have different spring rating on the front and sometimes the wrong spring is supplied for the VR, so it drops it to the floor. Again imo i dont think that looks too bad. DId you measure from floor to arch before and after? By the way its not advised to put lowered springs on standard shocks as you'll wear the shocks out quicker.

One think i did have was a screw that held the dust guard behind the disc had some how worked its was out and was rubbing against the disc. Only did it turning one way though. Rather loud squeak
-
Front or back wheel do you think? Maybe take each wheel off and investigate.
-
The drivers side front on mine is the same, infact there's some movement. The bracket that sliders into the bumper is in place. So im guess the bolts holding the bracket to the body need tightening up.

I'm not bitter, it's just my cars a complete lemon...

Good point kev. I think we moan about the car more though as the house wont leave you stranded on the M1 or unable to get to work. :( -
This is it, im lucky really. I can do the service myself and take it to my friendly mechanic who's happy to stamp the book.
