  1. Was gonna say, I couldn't find a 2nd hand one anywhere! Good looking bikes though, kind of monster feel to them. All the jap makes a bike like that, yamaha and kawasaki both do, in fact I think yamaha started earlier with a 125 virago (or was it dragstar?) IIRC. Just looked on the yamaha site and found a YBR125, another naked. New they're £2000, so 2nd hand could be a good option, but i get the feeling they've not been out long.
  2. Look at this one! Lovely. I love looking at bikes, regardless of the capacity
  3. Wow yeah, just had a look, they seem to hold their value well! I sold mine for £1600 in 2002, and it's still worth that now! Unless he can find one on ebay or something cheaper. It'd do 70 at a push, and was quite torquey in the lower revs being a twin. Nice thing was that car drivers thought it was a big bike and tended not to give me so much gyp on the roads. I remember I really wanted an NSR125 at first, but changed my mind when I heard and saw one in real life with L plates. Just remembered, sachs http://www.sachsmotorcycles.co.uk/, they're a german make. They do some 125's that might be worth looking at. They used to do a 125 bandit style thing which would probably be spot on, you might find a good one second hand.
  4. I take it it's a 125 he's after. I wouldn't recommend a 2 stroke race rep for daily stuff, too high maintainance, and they sound like chicken chasers, they're not fooling anyone  For under a grand it'll be hard to find a decent one that's not been ragged by a 17 year old! I started on a Suzuki VL125 intruder, one of those fake harleys with a little V twin and everything. Didn't look or sound like a 125, and I figured any learner legal 125 is gonna be quite slow, so might as well have a comfy bike to cruise on til I could upgrade. You can probably pick a reasonable one up for about that. I assume that's not what he's interested in though. Scramblers are a good option, stick some road tyres on and it'll be a good laugh, though I don't know enough about the small stuff to tell you which ones.
  5. Ah I forgot about this thread... thanks to JMC for the aircon bits, thanks to mtc R32 for the panel covers, and fla for the trim bit he sent me. I'm sure there's more I can big up, but can't remember now!
  6. Sorry, 5 litres of paint, but only about 2-3 litres of primer, and 2 litres of laquer. You'll only need a couple of good coats of primer and laquer. 5 litres does sound a lot, but I recently used 1.5 litres spraying my mates wing and bonnet, so it adds up after lots of coats. You've probably checked already, but you need to make sure you've got a bodyshop that'll use cellulose, since it's now a bit illegal for shops to use it due to pollution. There's still places that use it though. Just a suggestion... If you're getting a body shop to do the rest of the car, and you're just doing the bits you say, you might want to just get a couple of litres of celly for what you need then get the bodyshop to do the rest in 2k. Provided you only spray full panels yourself the colour match should still be good, but 2k gives a much stronger, more shiny finish, which will hold it's shine for longer and won't crack/fade etc.
  7. First up, are you going to spray it yourself, or get a pro to do it for you? If you're using cellulose, you'll want at least 5 litres, and the same or more in thinners. You'll find it'll take give or take about 6-7 good coats, plus a couple primer/base coats, and lacquer. Plus a load of cutting compound to buff it up nicely. If you're doing it yourself you won't want 2 pack paint unless you've got a spray booth and air fed mask, it contains a form of cyanide! The yanks seem to use it with a charcoal mask, but it's not good for you, and still gets you high as a kite :Fade-color If you do want 2k, I'm not sure I can help, as I've never used it I'm afraid! What do you mean by mixed 50/50? Paint/thinners? If so you don't want that, mix it yourself, that way you can get the viscosity perfect for the gun and the coat you're on.
  8. Only after I put my first post up, I thought I should've put one in there saying I was following a red 2.0, but was in my daily hack lambo and wouldn't of been spotted, so just overtook him.
  9. Now that's something I would be impressed by seeing. How nice does that look, especially with the black number plate!
  10. Welcome. Good looking car, I like the colour combination interior/exterior, very nice.

    Paint Job

^^What he said. You might find that you can get away with sanding it down, then stick some rust remover on there, I've found the hammerite stuff works best, and it smells nice too  To be honest though, It looks like you're gonna find a few holes in there, so you're probably looking at replacing it. I've not looked, but I'd imagine it's spot welded in at the sides and down the bottom. I'm sure someone can shed some light on that. Try and find a little local bodyshop, the bigger ones that do insurance claims tend to be very expensive. For what it's worth, That picture of your badge looks quite cool in an odd sort of way  Dunno about removing wings, I should think it's just bolts, but the bonnet is really simple. Just unplug the washers and undo the 4 nuts attaching the brackets to the bonnet. Make sure you've got someone to help you move it, and some sort of blanket on the floor to put it on. I'm sure I don't need to tell you, it's big and pretty heavy.
  12. Lovely, congrats on the purchase. Looks pretty tidy, I like the colour too. One day I'm gonna get myself a mk1, love 'em.
  13. I'll be there at some point around then, but I'll be coming from the south-east of europe, and I'll be on a motorbike, can't wait 8) . I'll keep an eye out for you though, might come and say hello.
  14. That is pretty cool. I don't get it though  What's with the tag line, and the wheel clamp? Am I missing something blindingly obvious? She seems awfully happy considering too. Reckon she's gonna whip out a cheeky angle grinder to cut the clamp off?
  15. Hehe, don't want to sound cocky, but you northerners aught to come to Surrey (don't you know  ). I rarely get impressed with cars I see any more, as there's so many of them going around! astons, ferraris, lambos, porsches, you name it, mostly an everyday occurrence round here 8) I remember having a burn with a mclaren merc SLR on my old bike, that was fun, it had the same plate as the one Tiff drove on 5th gear too, tho wasn't him driving. There's even a few Mclaren F1's around, though I'm quite close to the Mclaren HQ in Woking, so might all be press cars. That said, there's a garage round here called Romans. Might as well be heaven TBH, I can't actually believe what they've got in there. On any 1 day, they'll have at least a carrera GT, an enzo, a zonda (usually a couple of each as well!), and countless others. I only go past it when I go to ikea, and every time I strain my neck to see what they've got! One day I'm gonna dress up smart and pop in for a look.
  16. It was weird, not one review or anything. I should imagine the audience they had there was from last weeks, and they just added that bit in at the end, otherwise it would've sucked for them! You really have to take top gear with a HUGE pinch of salt these days, it's more like watching brainiac, but more funny and more cars. I loved the fact they were constantly driving into James May's car, that was well funny, he's always getting stick from them, he looked pretty annoyed at times too. Big Stig was hilarious too  Those rednecks were pretty scary though, even if they made it look worse than it was, it still was a bit mad. Loved it when they had to get the jump leads out for May's car at the petrol station! Edit: P.S. I've been watching old top gear a lot recently (from early 90's, and the first series of new top gear, 2002 or so), and it's Sooooo boring compared! Though a lot more informative.
  17. Just to let you all know, it's gone :D :D :D The guy did buy it in the end, nice bloke, didn't do any more haggling either which was nice. I did give in and have it HPI'd by that cheap place in the end (thanks eddy, worth remembering next time I buy a car!), I think it was worth doing to sell the car, the guy said the last one he looked at had been in a front end smash, so he was just being very cautious. Anyway, I hope this is the last time I'm gonna post about that rover, this is a Corrado forum, after all  Cheers guys.
  18. Well, the guy's called me twice again now, sounds keen. He's coming tomorrow morning hopefully, and he's not mentioned it again so with a bit of luck he's given up on the idea. Sounds like a nice guy, he's probably just decided it's not worth it on a family owned 52 plate car. I reminded him my granddad was a driving instructor and examiner, hopefully that's given him enough confidence in the car.

    Gutted!

Oops. I've always wondered how much oil you'l loose doing that, Guess that answers that. Not on the same scale, I know, but I bought one of those glade liquid fresheners for the car, clipped it on the heater vent, then decided it smelt horrible. Sacked it, and just chucked it in the door pocket. Today I put my hand in the pocket and it was soaked with the stuff! Obviously tipped over and I forgot it was there. Spent ages cleaning it out, and now I stink of the horrible stuff!
  20. A lot of love going on in this thread, you lot all turned into hippies or something? Blimey, if you love your cars that much, why don't you just make a whole forum dedicated to them!? Oh Wait... P.S. When it works, I love mine too :luvlove:
  21. Cool game, how come the computer gets more turns than me though? and how come I get rubbish cars, and the computer gets nice porches and audis? I managed 4 points.
  22. I see, any chance you've got a link for the £10 jobby? Can't find anything. If it's only a tenner, I don't care, just £40 is a bit steep. Otherwise I'll just tell him to do it himself I reckon. I'm starting to wonder whether I'd actually get a better price from trade now TBH. The guy's offering £3500, minus whatever the check will cost (he said it's about £30 on the phone, so dunno what he's looking at), There's similar up with more mileage for £4k+, so it might be worth a try. I just want to stop all these numpty's calling me and wasting my time now, so whatever sells it quickest will do!
  23. I've had a few calls from this guy wanting to buy my rover finally. He sounds genuine, and a nice guy, which is good. He's just asked me to have it HPI'd. Now I've got no problem with this, but I thought it was up to the buyer to have it checked? What's annoying is that I inherited the car from my granddad, and have all the original receipts in his name, proving he paid in full, and the receipt proving that I got the car as part of my inheritance. Just a bit annoying as he wants me to pay for it. He's already got me down to my bottom price over the phone, and I'm really not too happy about forking out £40 on something I know is completely pointless. On the other hand, if I don't want to do the HPI, it'll probably make me sound dodgy, so I'm half inclined to do it just to get rid of the car, though the last thing I want is to fork out £40 then have him turn me down. What do you guys reckon?
  24. That's horrible. What's with the messy interior too, You'd think if he really liked the car he'd keep it tidy! Makes me think it's just for "looking cool" from the outside  I'm not a fan of these cars tbh, just don't like 'em, but I remember when I worked at the local Lotus garage washing cars as a kid, one of the mechanics (known as "pikey mikey") has a seriously mad GTE. I remember he took me out in it to get the burgers in, scared the bejesus out of me how quick it was! 130+ mph, and as I don't condone it whatsoever, I'll admit it was on a public dual carriageway, I was bricking it. Quick cars.
