It's the fan control unit! When I unplug the loom from the unit the car behaves normally! It must be keeping the ignition on somehow. £91 from VW for the unit, or try and see if I can get one second hand.

Got the engine off but the ignitions still on even though the keys out!

WTF! Pulled the keys out of the ignition and the cars still running!!!!!!! All I've done is check the little black box connected to the radiators!

I've taken the black box out to have a look at it (the one near the expansion tank) and when I shake it theres something rattling inside???

Ok, searched and am still confused so some help is needed! :cry: My fans don't kick in till the water temp gets above 100c and are much louder (stage 2 kicking in?). It's as if stage 1 doesn't work anymore! Please tell me its something cheap easy as I sooooo skint at the mo! :x

No, but the prob you have is identical to what I had a few weeks back and that was the fuse. Played havoc with quite a few electrics and its just one fuse. I did take the relays out and reseated them, also make sure the contacts are clean. Relays are prob about £10-£12 each????

What are dashboards made of? Are they covered in a material over a shell? I ask because I'm wondering how the hell you'd make surrounds for things like tv's etc? See pic as an example. Also, can you cover the C dash in leather or something similiar?

You could a get smaller washer bottle! Or eventake it out? Do you need washer jets for an MOT?

Why not? Fitting a new engine I can't do, but computers I know, so I can do that! :) Don't think I'll put my screen there though, wouldn't know how to make the surround for one! :) Bringing the C up to date! Satnav will be handy, as will vids and vag-com on tap. Plus not many have done it before.
