  1. Gona change the antifreeze on my VR6 now, and does any of you have any experience with the peak global lifetime antifreeze The option is either that one or the VW G13 antifreeze.
  2. What is supposed to be the difference between "norm" and "max" on the A/C?. I'm a bit unsure if my connectors are on wrong knob - but I also suspect I have a problem with one of the modes, as on one of them (I think it was normal - I'm not where the car is atm so can't check) it will blow cold air wherever the "valve" is positioned - BUT when I switch to the other mode, it seem to be closing something and it sounds like the air is sendt somewhere inside the dash ? - can't seem to feel the air coming out of any of the vents..... Any tips ? - also does it work on all 4 positions ?
  3. I have been doing a lot of troubleshooting of the temp gauge lately (mine went uo to about 90C when I turned ignition on, and stayed there, even with a cold car). robrado974 is correct, the yellow sensor is the one that goes to the gauge - to be more specific it's the blue/white cable, there is also two ground wires on this connector, and the last one goes to fan control module. The white/blue cable will go all the way to the cluster harness on pin 23 (it's the 28 pin connector harness of your cluster). What I would do as a test (presuming you have a multimeter), check the voltage between ground and the blue/white cable, it should read aprox 10V (with ignition on), the cable for fan-control module should read aprox 12V Also check if there is a relay in position 5 (number 2 from right side in the upper row of relays), I think it should be either a relay 43 or left empty. If there is also trouble with your fuel gauge the voltage stabiliser in the cluster might be causing this....... ---------- Post added at 7:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:16 PM ---------- Thought I'd add a bit more - if the voltage check out fine, I would just try to replace the sensor, if you want to make sure the line is ok, you can connect a wire into the connector and "ohm" it from the pin 23 on the cluster harness.
  4. As someone in the past have been cutting in the wiring to the stereo I was thinking about replacing it with new wiring. But before I start - does anyone know if this wiring goes to other things - or does it just run down to the relay box ? (and maybe ignition) - or part of a bigger "system" ? Anyone maybe got a pic of it - or know where to find it on etka ?

    Temp Gauge VR6

I don't think this one have anything to do with that no - The blue (2 point) I think does :) The yellow goes to the cluster and to the fan control module AFAIK
  6. Alright - thanks guys, I think that'l be alright, as I sorted the trouble I had - was just wondering if you guys had a relay in slot number 5 - if so what relay is it?. I found out someone had put a relay 72 into slot 5 - causing my temp gauge to go to about 90C - but removed it now, and is working.......but bentley says this slot might be open or with a relay 43. I'v tested with the 43 as well, and the temp gauge is working - but is it supposed to have that relay there or not ?.
  7. I'l answer my own last Q - The 5 means relay position 5, and pin 3 on that relay :) And FINALY!!!!!!!!!!! The problem seem to be gone - for some unknown reason someone have put a relay number 72 into position 5 - where it's supposed to be a relay number 43 (or non at all?), presume it have had a coil that's made a circuit to ground and feeding the gauge :) Easy fix in the end - but damn......:) (I remember when I got it it had this fuel gauge/temp gauge problem - due to the voltage stabiliser, so guess the former owner must have been trying to fix the problem - maybe that's where the relay came from......:( ) If anyone happen to have a picture of a relay/fuse box from a late 95 VR6 feel free to post one :) This can be regarded as SOLVED! ;)
  8. Can anyone tell me what the 3 and 5 indicates in this wiring diagram (snapshot from bentley):
  9. Anyone have a picture of a late 95 VR6 fuse/relay box - with all relays/fuses correctly setup ? I'v tried to look in the bentley, but it seem like mine have a bit different layout..........or maybe something is missing ??...:)
  10. Tried to change over the wiring harness that comes from the cluster to fusebox - but still the same problem.... I presume it must have something to do with the connection it makes to ground, but dam*** har to figure this thing out :( More tips on where to look???? - Aso the two ground wires that goes to the connector seem to have good connection to ground. ---------- Post added at 3:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:31 PM ---------- Anyone able to do a measure on theyr yellow sensor and tell me the resistanse value (ohm) you get from the blue/white cable to battery, and the other wire that goes to fan control module to battery. I get following values on the Corrado: blue/white: 166 Ohm fan-control module: about 1.6 Kohm Passat VR6: blue/white: 266 ohm fan-control: about 23 Kohm - so a huge difference between the two cars on this value....:(
  11. Anyone know if there is some sort of "lock" to hold the harness connectors in place on back of the relay/fuse box ? Other then the one on the harness itselfe ?. Or are they just very hard to "wiggle" out ?
  12. Have you tried from under the car? (I can't imagine you have to take off the front to replace that thingy).....I know I'v replaced that sensor before - but can't remember if it was on my Corrado or Passat - but it was with the front on....

    VR6 Manifold

I think those are the same - can't find RHD and LHD versions in vw catalogue at least........but maybe someone can confirm it - but highly doubt there is any difference.
  14. Tried disconnecting the cluster again, then I will not get any connection thru to the negative connector of battery - so I'm starting to suspect that there might be something wrong with the harness that plugs into the cluster ????....... I'v double checked the corrado cluster in the passat today, and when putting ignition on the needle stays at the bottom - so at least it seem to be working fine in the Passat.......(the reason I suspect the harness - something/somhow is happening when I plug in the cluster)....:( Any thoughts ?
  15. Anyone know what other VW's uses the harness/wiring that goes to the gauge cluster? ex will a 96 passat 1.9 TDI use the same harness? Anyone got a pic of the complete harness ? (I presume it only goes down to the relay box ?.
  16. Measured from the cluster now, and seem to be roughly 2.5-3 Ohms, wouldn't think that should affect it that much ?..... ---------- Post added at 1:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:55 PM ---------- As far as I know it's the blue/white lead that goes directly to the cluster, after doing a bit more testing I find that this wire also have about 166 ohms when I measure from the yellow harness to the negative battery connector.......I don't think it should be that, but does anyone know what would be an expected ohm value from negative battery to this connector ?. Also any tips on where the he*** it can make this connection ?....:)
  17. Anyone know if it's possible to split the relay/fuse "housing" from the back part where the wires plugs in ?. And how one would do it?. Can't seem to get proper access to the harnessess I need to get out, so was hoping I could split it an measure directly on the box ?.
  18. Have you checked all your ground connections ? - make sure there is good grounds around........
  19. Have you checked engine speed sensor ? (located quite low down around the oil filter housing (on the block)). IIRC if this one is toast you won't get any spark, and also think it cuts fuel......
  20. Will try to check those things out, thnx for the tips - btw any idea what type of voltage one should measure at the plug harness? (I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I think I did some testing some years ago and found that my Passat VR6 had around 12V at the plug, but the Corrado only had 6 V at the same pin)......anyway, I'l check out the resistance etc to see :) thnx again
  21. Yea the cluster works fine in a Passat VR6, and the cluster from the passat (wich works fine in the passat) will do this weired thing in the Corrado as well....:(
  22. Is there any way to know which voltages one should expect at the plug ? I can't see the bentley mentiones anything about this ??... Also if anyone else have been reading the wiring diagram - The track numbers I presume is only some kind of reference numbers to make it easier to read ? - and not actuall points on the car. ---------- Post added at 9:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:15 PM ---------- Just thought I'd add a small pic I made, maybe someone can confirm I'm on the correct path here (as far as I can read from bentley this is the setup for the yellow temp sensor)?:
  23. ok, thought so, I guess this one is bust then....lol.... ohh well I'l just get a new one :) ---------- Post added at 2:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:24 PM ---------- Or will it only run for alittle while, as when I was back out testing again it sounded like something buzzing in the bay, but wasn't fast enough out of the car to check if it was the pump.....
  24. I'v just replaced a aux water pump whith one I had laying around, but not sure if the "new" pump is working, as the one I hade made very much noise..... So is there any way I can check if it's actually running ? (Should it always run for some time after stop, and when one put ignition on ?) - or will the car have to be over a certan temp ?. If so what voltage can I supply the pump with to check if it actually works?.
