Just thought I'd post a reply on this one. I had been looking at the fuel lines earlier (they where all new), but eventually got someone to look at it at the moment I started it - then they noticed fuel pouring out - only was a matter of getting some smaller fuel clamps (the other ones where holding when we tightened them again, but to be sure I stepped down one size). I already had done these steps earlier, but I'm starting to think the screw might have backed out again and/or caused by temperature changes??..... Just thought I'd post an answer to this Q anyway ;)

Anyone know what powers the light behind the air adjusting dials?. Getting a bit worried - noticed they seem to switch on and off during drive.......haven't had time to do any investigation into it, but is there other things that's powered on the same cables (should be affected)?. Might only be a bad connection to the diode itself ???

Looks like there is 2 different part numbers at least (rhd being: 536 919 527

Will the car crank if the ignition switch is to blame ?
Mawrick replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
can't remember the number that was on it - I took it out of my "parts car" passat (which I had replaced the switch in not long ago) and it's black in color. Just seem to "sense" that the times it cranks for very long - if I "lift" the key a bit it fires.........:( Just tried this and i think this is exactly the problem with mine. When turning the ignition it just turn and turns but the moment you back off the ignition key it fires (or at least tries...), really weird?! not sure it's exactly the same - with "lift" I ment pushing it a bit upwards while cranking.....:) -
haha, true - at least with a standard C - guess a Turboed Vr6 might have something else up it sleeve ;)

after a search around the internet it seem like "some kinda Ford" was something like this:

alright I'v ordered new temp sensors from VW (I had some non genuine one - but hear those might not be the best, actually the brown sensor coming from the same company fu*** up right away having the fans run at very low temp - so changed that one back to the old sensor), but have now ordered all new from VW......will give you an update as soon as I know if it helps...lol.... -
got kinda "smoked" by a over styled ford something - well not really sure I got "smoked" but I yielded :) Coming out of a roundabout I had seen this guy really hanging on close to the C, so I though f'k let's just floor it out of the roundabout - saw he floored it as well - but passing speeding limit of no more license I though f'k it let him "go" so changed into the other lane. Actually thought I lost something from the car as I thought I heard some weired noice - turned out to be his dump valve....lol.......

tell me if you figure it out :) - I'm trying to hunt down this problem so will get back if I figure out anything. I'v had tips that it might actually be caused by blue temp sensor and/or MAF even when they don't throw errors. Also FPR have been mentioned - but I'v tried 2....:) -

could the "lock barrel" itself be to blame?. Or maybe the fact that it have that "imobilizer" thingy surrounding it??? (maybe signal related?? - not sure how that thing actually works) -

I have replaced my ignition switch - but at times my C still seem a bit hard to start. It will always start - but might take some cranking. What I'm wondering is if there is anything wrong with the ignition switch (or the lock "barrel") will the car still crank ? (ie as in always crank)
-
ok, thnx :)

I see a ref to repair group D in the bentley manual - anyone know where I can find it?. (for diagnosing the blue temp sensor - hoping there might be some more info about it there...;) )
-
The Q is - how many Corrado's could we fit in there....lol....:)
-
Anyone know if the yellow temp sensor (which actually is yellow in color) is available from VW. And does it have a different part number than the black one? (IIRC the black one is the one they will come up with when trying to get a replacement for the yellow one)?.
-
Not sure how interesting it is, but I'm off to the pub quite soon .....lol ;)
-
no trouble fitting it - but the spare one I had the filter ring is able to move along the "rod" part, where the one I took out the filter seem to be stuck in one place - was just wondering what was "right" - also could a bad vacuum hose on the FPR cause it to operate wrongly at startup maybe?.
-
yea - only trouble is if the bolts snaps - not a huge problem but adds a bit work :) just changed mine last week - that filter was the original one, even though it looked to be in good nick, the fuel seemed to be fine coming out of it, still a good thing to do if it haven't been done :)
-
a good guide!, thnx. btw - any idea is that "filter-ring" is supposed to be loose on the "rod" or supposed to sit in one position ? the thingy with the "black" ring:
-
I would think your switch is alright. the FPR is the blank little thingy sitting on the end of the fuel rail (opposite side where the fuel hoses comes in).
-
Anyone know how the VR6 FPR works - and can anyone confirm that the "filter" part is supposed to "travel" on the "rod" part of the FPR - the one I replaced the filter part seem to stay stuck hanging onto the main "lump" of the FPR. IF that sentence made any sense....lol.......
-
yea those connections should be alright - haven't noticed anything in that area - and it's only just after I startup the smell goes away after a few minutes it seem.........any way it could "flood" the engine with to much gas? - eventually things that can cause this - besides the FPR ?
