  1. I'v seen another 95 VR6 for sale for quite cheap and thinking about picking it up as according to the owner it sits at roughly 34-35000 miles, and pretty much original. But never seen the green ones in person, and it's quite a far distance to go to see it, so was wondering what you guys can tell me about this color - does it look good in real life ?. What is the colorcode and name of this one ? This would eventually be an additional Corrado in my ownership - as the blackberry will stay :) Pics of the car in question:
  2. Yea, guess it won't hurt anyway and I guess 6 months should run fast - even onshore :) (and it seem to be a job one can control pretty much your own working day) - but will figure out a bit more the coming week as I'l work alongside a collegue who currently hold the position - but he's going offshore again now after 10-11 months....:)
  3. I'm working as a loging engineer offshore - doing downhole stuff, what will you do offshore yourself btw, and what you do in RAF today if I may ask?...... well - yes it does pay "right", so no worries about that, career wise I'm not sure, as I don't see myself going onshore anytime soon, but in the back of my mind I think that it might be an ok thing to have on the CV if I one day choose to get my feet back onshore.....I guess it would add value to my CV if not more....:)
  4. Have you checked VW's classic parts ? (These are supposed to be genuin parts) - not sure what pump it is for but I found this for the Corrado: http://shop.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/vwcp/Scirocco-Corrado/Corrado/Abgas-und-Kraftstoffanlage/Kraftstoffgeber.html Maybe have a browse around :)
  5. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery. Terribe thing
  6. A belated happy new year from me too all of you guys!......
  7. I normaly work offshore, and work on a rotation of 2 weeks on 3 weeks off, 2 weeks on and then 4 weeks off - but now I got a offer/question to take a temporary position onshore for atleast 6 months (including having home office some days, as the position is in another city than I live) (covering for a guy that used to be my boss in the early days due to a stroke).....a bit torn between giving up on the "off periodes", but on the other hand it might be good experience to put on the CV - you guys have any thought/inputs....lol...:) In the end I guess I realy don't risk much as I'l go back to my current position eventually.....
  8. If this thing is random (especially if it turns out to be a random hot start problem) the first and easy/cheap thing to do is to take off the feed hose from the fuel pump, buy a small non-return valve, and some fuel hose (so you don't have to cut the original hose) and fit the non-return valve between the pump and the old hose. How I did mine - after having a look thru pretty much everything else........:) turned out VW actually made a kit for fixing this due to some problems with the fuel pump on the VR6 - but this kit is not available from VW any longer... it looked like this: Just make sure the hose and non-return valve is of correct size (can't remember from top of head, but I'm sure someone in here know if it's 8 or 10mm :))
  9. Might have been posted before - not sure, but A Eurovan commercial showing the VW Family line - including the VW Corrado:
  10. Sounds good - my Passat was a he*** sorting out - but in the end it served me well for years after the ecu was replaced :) - and in the end I guess it turned out to be the cheapest car I'v ever owned as it just kept running....lol.....
  11. Do you have any chance to get to try another ECU ? - as thinking back from when I bought an older Passat VR6 (wich had periodical problems when I bought it) I checked "most" things, and replaced quite a bit, and that would sometime run just fine, some time it would stop by itself, and then sometimes one would have to wait for ages for it to fire up again, sometimes it would fire up again quite fast) etc - it was very random. In the end it turned out to be a bad ECU, after I replaced that I never had a problem with it again - was actually the most easily starting VR6's I'v ever owned - it just fired imidiatly :) On that car the damage to the ECU I suspect had been caused by low voltage to ecu time and time again :) Maybe a thing to check out atleast - as it seem you have checked quite a bit :)
  12. I think it will actually cut the fuel supply if it can't detect the engine speed sensor, so the fuel pump might not be to blame even if you don't get fuel.........
  13. What's wrong with the original pump btw?
  14. I recon it won't start at all when it start troubling ? (tried cranking for quite some time ?). - See you have a replacement pump - and just thought I'd flag a fix I did with my VR6 (only related to hot start problem on mine though), but VW had some problems with some of the VR6 pumps, where the check valve in the pump wouldn't hold pressure. the fix is obsolete now - but it's basically only a hose and a non return valve, but in between the fuel line and the fuel pump. (Kinda doubt that is your problem though as you have same problem with 2 pumps - but just thought I'd mentioned it - it's a cheap/easy thing to try anyway). (8mm check valve on ebay and a short string of fuel line (8mm) :) )
  15. Magnecore leads are good ones, used them for years on my Passat VR6, and still running fine, even though the car is sitting, most likely going to use it for spares :) - but never had a VR6 fire quicker/better then this one, not sure if it's down to the leads or not :) My VR6 Corrado is a bit slower to fire, but so are my 06 Passat V6 (also VR6 engine).
  16. If it'w hot start problem only I bet it's either the relay or that non return valve thingy :) don't think the relay should get *that* hot though - is it black or grey ? (I think later "fixed" ones was grey, but I'm sure someone will correct me if my mem doesn't serve me right :) )
  17. Is it only "warm" start that's trouble ?. If so I replaced many parts on mine related to starting issues - in the end I resolved it with putting in a non-return valve between the fuel pump and the hose I used this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271061850109 but any check valve would do, just make sure it's 8mm. would reccomend getting some fuel hose as well so you don't have to cut the original fuel line. Some more info in this thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=82988&p=989046#post989046
  18. thanks - wasn't thinking off amazon when I looked....:) also seem like I found a compressor part dealer in the states that ships international so it'l work out eventually :) And hopefully soon get it hooked up and running :)
  19. I have a older IR air compressor I'm going to set up - but I need a few parts to get it up and running as I want to, mainly 2 things: In tank check valve: And a Pilot unloader valve: maybe a few other things too, but mainly those - are there any web shops in UK that will sell this and also ship to Norway? Compressor I'm going to use it with:
  20. Anyone have any idea if these car-lifters are quality brand or not ?. Done a bit of searching around and seem to be part of "snap-on" ........ any info appreciated.
  21. I think it's actually "in house" as that bloke is now working for VW AFAIK. From autocar: "Development of the new unit, a replacement for the discontinued VR6, is being overseen by VW’s new head of engine development, Fritz Eichler, the man behind the current generation of AMG powerplants."
  22. Not sure if this have been posted.............. http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/volkswagen-announces-a-new-vr6-its-full-of-anger-and-torques/ http://www.imotortimes.com/volkswagen-vr6-development-new-twin-turbo-6-cylinder-engine-next-passat-19958
  23. I bought this one myself: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271061850109?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I'v got no idea why this only happen for hot starts, but something is it, I'v had this problem from when I got the car (years ago), but only recently started to do real troubleshooting into the problem, and got info about this fix that VW had issued with the hose and non-return valve (due to hot start problems on the VR6) on a german forum. This hose thingy isn't available anymore from VW but you could do the same with this non-return valve. The way I did it on mine: bought some extra 8mm fuel hose, connected the new hose directly to the pump, routed it around the top of pump (where the hatch for fuel pump is), cut it to lengt, connected the non-return valve (correct way :) ), and then connected the valve up to the original hose (without cutting it). I haven't had one single problem with hot starting after I did this, and before I had them daily......
  24. Don't think that would resolve it - IIRC I tried 2 different FPR's (and/or did that test to check the FPR) - but AFAIK this was a known problem from VW - and I guess they wouldn't have made the "check valve" fix they did (discontinued) if the FPR was to blame...... The "fix" they had for leaking fuel pumps:
  25. My brother is in the marked for a new car, so we had a fun ride with a S5 4.2 V8 earlier today - must say I'm realy starting to feel the urge to replace the "daily" Passat 3.2 V6 with something like this.....lol... The 4.2 was a brutal piece of machine :) (wouldn't have thought the difference where that but, but da** that think kicked).......
