hi guys i own a 2ltr 16v and my question is does anyone know if you can get the cork gasket that sits between the meter unit itself and the plastic housing of the top of the air box , im sure mine is drawing air as if i spray carb cleaner around the gasket the reves increase indicating a air leak , is it possible to buy it on its own or am i looking at a complete airflow meter and how much is that going to be :( :(

the common temp for for a oxygen /lambda sensor is around 190 c at the front and the exit temp can be as high as 250c and silicon/bullshit spray is only dodgy if you spray it in to the air intake when running also deisels really dont like it , and talking of exhaust temps with the new grand vitara desiel if you have to carry out what is called a forced regeneration of a particulate filter the exhaust temp will rise to 750c to burn off the soot in the filter . so far this week ive drained out around 200litres of fuel from panicing customers and we have distrbuted it around the workshop and no ones had any problems yet also i hear that VWs and Fords havent been affected so we dont realy need to worry :D

ive been working on jap cars for years and for years we have been getting this problem , usually reset the warning light and tell the customer not to buy from super markets and the problems gone , we are now getting inundated with worried motorists who want there fuel tanks emptying , but why put a decent octaine boost in the fuel tank and i doubt you will get a problem if your worried about your oxygen sensor then disconect it untill you can fill up with decent fuel you sensor when disconected should make the system go open loop which will make the car run ok your engine warning light may come one on more modern cars but it should stop you burning out the sensor , im not telling people to do this but it simple advise from someone whos been doing the same job for 22 years and im certanly not worried about this problem .my corrado has the sensor unplugged and is running fine but its also got no cat :D

KADVR6 ive retrimmed quite a few cars over the last few years in different dealerships ive worked for , a little tip on how to get rid of any saggy parts or rucks in the leather is to if possible leave the seats outside on a sunny day ,this will cause the leather to shrink back slightly and you will lose any small imperfections I.E creases , rucks and saggs the longer you can leave them the better they will be :D

have you got a spark at the leads or from the coil pack , double check that all the connectors are on in the right place and also make sure that if you removed any earth cables from the head or any other mounting point that they are all back on , also has it got a good fuel supply ive seen it before when rebuilding an engine that some one clamps off the fuel lines and forgets to release them after  , double check everything you have taken off and that you havent got any spare electrical connectors floating around ,hope this helps mate :)

check that your boot light isnt stuck on , mine did this some time ago and i changed the battery which then went flat again and was about to kick off with the company who supplied the battery when i realised the light was on

the switch on the radiator is the fan thermo swich which controls the fan but you also have 2 sensors on the head ether side of the thermostat housing the one on the left is for the engine ecu and the one on the right is for the coolent temp gauge , my rado used to get up to 110 befor the fans kicked in and i changed all the sensors and even changed the antifreeze but it made no difference , eventualy the fault turned out to be the ecu sensor and now the fan kicks in at 92 and switches off a little later , the 100 mark is quite common for 2ltr 16vs . hope this helps :)

ok slight problem there my sunroof seems to be stuck and wont slide back on the passenger side i think the mechanisum has just broken :( any ideas were the drain tubes come out at the other end ??? , i think i will leave the roof alone until i know is going to be dry and not likely to poor down when the roofs out :)
-
hi guys can anyone tell me were the drain tubes for the sunroof are on my 2ltr 16v :?: as i think that mine may be blocked on the near side , i have a small puddle of water appearing in the foot well of my car :( and the car is full of condensation , any advise would be greatly appreciated thanks :) :) :)

ive had no end of problems with a hot running engine since i got my car and ive tryed all the above repairs and it turned out to be the sensor for the ECU had no wire going to it and all ive done is take the wire off the coolent temp sensor and fit it to the ECU temp sensor now the fans kick in at 92 and the car runs perfectly , also the bottom hose should be cooler than the top hose as the water has passes through the radiator and cools , this is quite normal and its the same for all cars well it has with all the ones ive worked on in the last 21 years as a tech :)
-
yep mate just swap them around and try it , its working for my car really well :D
-
ive taken the coolent temp guage sender #5 wire and put it on to the coolent temp sensor for the ecu #3 which has never had a wire going to it in all the time ive owned it and the car is still running better than ever , please be aware that both my sensors are single flat blade connectors and not like the twin pin sensor #3 shown in the picture , hope this is some use to you best of luck and let me know if it makes a difference to the car you have problems with :D
-
ive found a pic on the forum and it looks like the temp sensor for the ecu but mine is a single flat blade terminal not a double pin switch
-
i will get a couple of pics in the morning , sorry ive only just got back to you ive been in london all weekend , what a joyful place to visit :D

well after many months of my corrado playing up and breaking down when it felt like it i may have stummbled across the fault , my car would always over fuel when you liffted off the throttle after a run then cut out and refuse to start as the plugs were covered in fuel , also the temp was always around 100 - 110 before the fans would even think about cutting in , ive changed the plugs , leads , cap , arm , isv , thermo fan switch , temp sender unit , fuel filter , antifreeze , major service , timming checked and c/o levels reset but to no avail .To be honest its spent more time sat in my driveway more this year than its been on the road ,anyway today i was mucking around with it again and decided to swap the terminals off the coolent temp sensor and put it on to the sensor which has never had a terminal on it , ive spent ages trying to find out why it had this supposed spare sensor , my car now runs like a dream idle is smooth and no dark smoke comming out of the exhaust when you rev it up , no more popping back through the exhaust and the cooling fans are kicking in at about 95 and switching off when it gets back to 90 , how chuffed am i its never run like this in all the time ive owned it , im going to run it for a few days and let you know how its going :D :D :D
