  1. hi guys its me again as some of you may know my 1992 2ltr 16v has had a few running problems for a while , i would really do with a little advise . all ignition side is fairly new i.e plugs cap arm leads all good , but im sure the car is over fueling as it back fires alot on overrun and when its ticking over it smells like its running rich at the exhaust ,if you blip the throttle you get a puff of black smoke and lots of sooty deposits come out , today ive set the c/o level to 0.5 % at the manifold instead of 1.5-2.0% and disconnected the 5 injector as i think its throwing itself on as and when it likes , since doing this the car feels more responsive and its stopped popping back on overrun and hardly any black smoke if you give it a boot full , im wondering if the ecu is trying to over fuel the car due to the exhaust being 3inch diamiter and has been de-catted , the o2 sensors are still plugged in to the loom but are tucked up out the way , im thinking if the c/o level has been set to 1.5% and the ecu only wants max .5% this could be the problem also were the 5th injector is faulty making the mixture to rich on a warm start up causing the sod to flood , any ideas guys please , thanks again guys :D
  2. the plug leads cap and arm are fairly new , the timming is set correctly , i dont think its advancing its self , i carnt understand why it went like a rocket when i had disconected the isc valve , i got my hands on a vw fault code reader and tryed to retreve any codes but it didnt seem to work , bloody thing , nick VR6 i carnt make it this saturday but how about next saturday mate , i would appreciate it greatly or when ever convenient for you buddy , thanks guys for the advice im going to try playing around with a few things on sunday any other tips or suggestions would be great guys thanks again everyone :D
  3. anyone got any ideas --------- please
  4. ive worked for peugeot and i say run with fear in your heart and dont look back never ever , sorry about that just wouldnt want to see some one spend loads out on what is commanly known in peugeot circles as the GOLDFISH POND we had no end of problems with them hence the fact i no longer work for peugeot , i would sooner spend that type of money chasing the rainbow at the end of my corrados bonnet , please do not take offence by what is after all my opinion of what lots of people love .
  5. my car hates me to , infact both my cars hate me :( your not alone mate
  6. hi guys can anyone help me try to fathom out this problem with my car , today wife reversed it out the drive and the car cut out and wouldnt restart , this has happened a couple of times to me in the past i normaly wait a mo and then it starts , anyway tonight i got home i disconected the cold start injector and un plugged the ISV engine idle went up to 1000rpm then reconneced tie ISV and the idle stayed the same so i took it for a run to put some petrol in as my wife hasnt yet found out were that goes  , the car went like a rocket , i dont think its ever run so well no popping back through the exhaust and no flatspot on acceleration , anyway stoped got fuel and fired up the car all seemed fine but idle speed down to 800rpm and lots of popping back and not so crisp on pulling away , now the cold start injector is still diconected as im not sure if its over fueling on a warm start up , but im not to sure what to do next is it possible for the ISV valve to cause all these problems i have cleaned it thoroghly and im thinking of running the car with it disconected . please if anyone has any suggestion as to what may be causing these problems i really could do with some help :D :D :D
  7. always wave mate most other rado owners wave its a minority who choose to be ignorant so sod em , its always nice to see fellow corrado and its so cool to wave at people even if they dont , i also get waved at by lots of other vw drivers which is nice so dont give up just enjoy the company of fellow happy vw owners
  8. try cleaning the throttle body out and check the operation of the 2 micro throttle switches on the throttle body make sure that the switches are working , also check that all your vaccume hoses are in good condition and that none have come off , worth looking at the above mate hope this helps :)
  9. best thing is fuel line and injector cleaner , put another bottle in when you go for the re test and like you have said change your air filter as well and all should be good , may sound stupid but what condition is your engine oil in as i have known very poor quality oil , dirty oil can also effect your c/o levels on a mot :)
  10. i bet that bought a tear to you eye lol
  11. cool nice one superchargedwill give it a go , does anyone know the positions of the 3 wires on the switch as somone previous to me has cut off the multiplug and put put spade connectors on it or doesnt this make a difference :?:
  12. if you know someone then my advise is to use them as there are a lot of cowboys in this trade , please dont anyone get offended by that comment as i have been working in this trade for 21 years as a tech so i know a lot of them LOL
  13. my 2ltr 16v sits at around 90 on a run and will get to just below 110 if im stuck in traffic cooling fan always seems to cut in at about 108 , sounds like its the same as mine , just keep an eye on your levels and make sure your fans are kicking in mate :) mine also smokes a little at that rpm range but remember its an older car and you could be looking at a head gasket problem , you can go to any decent garage and get that checked very quickly as most dealers would bave a chemical tester that can test for gases in the coolent system it only take a couple of minutes to check so it could be worth finding some one local to you with one
  14. cheers guys for your support , RAC windscreens did a fantastic job in under 1 hour , the guy even cleaned the window channel back to the metal and then sealed it with anti corrosion gunk to stop the inset of any rot that was trying to start , top man and top job , he even showed me the recipet for the glass from his depot including the labour to fit it was £162.00 , why the hell nation wide autoglass wanted £670.00 + vat is beyond me and to top it all its an original VW screen not a pattern part , all new shiny trims and it looks great all for the final cost of £50 on my excess . 26 days and counting now to the change of my insurance company due to the complete lack of help but boy it felt good to phone them back and produce the certificate no to them LOL :D
  15. im getting my windscreen replaced tomorrow for £50.00 , at last ive found the little bit of paper autoglass gave me to say my glass was in good order , so up yours mr norich union direct , try getting out of paying for it now LOL , sorry bit of an outburst of overwellming joy there :) :D :)
  16. i think its more a case of "little japanese man has little fingers " and the designers realy dont give a toss about the maintence of the vehicals . and anyone interested in the new swift sport 1.6 16vvt its an improvement on the 1.5vvt but its definetly no GTI in fact its quite disapointing its more like a small puff of wind not the extreme storm they have been banging on about . anyway back to VR657ORM glad you sorted it mate like ive said any probs give us a shout mate anytime :D
  17. nice one mate i will try that next weekend when ive got time , its got to be worth giving a go ive tryed new sensors and alsorts of other things but ive not heard of this before , again cheers buddy :D
  18. this may sound like a stupid question but why do you have to use VW G12+ , ive havent used it could this be possible a reason why my car seems to run hotter than i like ? and possible causing poor idle problems if the sensors arnt working correctly? :confused4:
  19. sorry for the delay in getting back to you , suzuki well what can i say there not bad on the whole , very reliable and cheap , i do agree thogh about carry van exhausts i normaly cut the bloody things off , the carrys not as bad as the early swift to do the back box on that you have to dismantle the o/s/r suspension just to fit it . in my honest opinion theres a lot of crap suzuki dealers out there , but suzuki technical back up is the worst ive ever experianced in 21 years of doing the job , ive even had arguments with suzuki uk technical director over issues we have had with some of the new cars, EG probing air bag wiring looms with 12 volts to try and cure faults .if you still havent got the sensor you need then if you e mail me the chassis no and reg then i will see how quick we could get it for you and if need be post it via parcle force to you if you want , remember you will get the part for trade costs plus postage , also suzuki have a thing for employing snot nosed teenagers as parts advisors and most the time they dont even know what the part is or where it goes so a lot of the time the parts they get are wrong , hope my opinion hasnt offended anyone but thats how it is im affraid
  20. i know the money that i earn at the mo is pritty much top doller for the trade so im not expectinig to make any head way in that direction but i do go past the sunseeker factorys and show yards almost every day and what a sight , multi million pound boats and most of the sales team seem to be young ladies that are very plesent on the eye :shocked!: lol i meen the boats are nice too , honest i only go to look at the boats  better not let my wife know about the sales team at sunseeker :D
  21. horizon motor co Honda , mazda and suzuki im still earning around 32k a year but carnt seem to get a rise out of them so i agree its proberly time to move on , but i would love to get out the trade alltogether to be honest mate , would love to work for somone like sunseeker how cool would that be
  22. i know what you meen about a new job ive been trying to find something new for a while which wont involve a huge pay cut and as you say the car side pay isnt great , i got to consultant tec status 5 years ago so i dont earn bonuses im on a fixed wage so it sucks i just get a load more greaf for a pointless title and all the crap that know one else in our company wants to fix or carnt fix ( we've only got 10 sites so theres a lot of crap needs sorting :D )
  23. cool how long you been busting your knuckles
  24. nice one mate i will spend a lot of time going through that and get a different policy sorted , in answer to your other question ive been in the trade for 21 years as a mechanic , greese monkey , spanner banger or what ever else you want to call us LOL, again cheers buddy much appreciated :thumbleft:
