They also do a good job of shedding water/ moisture in the inital contact in the wet, they also help stop pads from Glazing unlike plain discs... This is why the Likes or Porsche Ferrari etc use them... Ok maybe a lttle extreme for "Average" road conditions but I saw a noticable difference on my 'Rocco (No ABS, smaller servo etc).. Also it had less tendancy to lock the fronts up for some reason... I'd recommend a pad/Groved disc swap to any-one running Mk1/2 setups (non ABS) However Not done on Rado yet so this is all based on my experience with even older technology... But I guess the principles still apply... Dinks you're right about cross drilled.. all show and no go.. have seen a cheap one "Let Go" on a track day... not pretty, causes a bunch of damage, and apparently really scary....

Rob, I'd go for Vented, Grooved discs on teh fronts and plain steels on teh back with the Pagids... Had a set of Pagid FR pads and ?EBC? Star-grove discs on the front of the Rocco with fast road shoes in the rear drums!... and that could out brake a number of hot-hatches and some porkers into roundabouts... You don't really need cross drilled unless you're going at mach-2 everywhere, the grooves do a good job of keeping the pads fresh and letting any hot gasses out... You may also want to look at upping the spec of your brake fluid as they do generate more heat, on and braided hoses too...

Cheers Rob... Worked hard on getting that (about a day all in)... Will probably have to do it all over again as it's been sitting for over a month now... The bonnet of the Cabby does need doing as you can see the bits leaving streaks when applying Polish/wax... So will get onto that as soon as I can find a Clay-kit (probably end up ordering it off net)... I guess claying it will also mean that the wax will stay on it slightly longer as it'll bond to the surface rather than to some to the contaminants and some of the surface.
-
Jay2 John-M I've used the first 2 of 3 step followed by the Clearcoat as I heard Carabuna doesn't last to long....Went over from using SRP/Wax... Other thing is that if you use UDP you can't use EGP as apparently it doesn't bond.... Have recently done 1/3 of teh bonnet of the Cabby as a test and really impressed, the reflections appear much sharper with this.. however it needs the bonnet claying as I don't think it's ever been done... Anyway here's the results on the Rado's bonnet... I'm pretty impressed.

Get back in the Box Gimpy...
-
nocrap, Have you tried HIC? Lot of their insurers see mods as non-cost unless you get silly with NOS/Chargers/Turbos... but usual suspension/brakes etc usually don't incurr extras.. The Cabby's lowered suspension on a classic policy was fine and no-cost... They've done almost all my old tin and some was quite modified..
-
Andy, where did you get the nets? They look pretty handy and will save my map from being destroyed on the back seat..
