Dinkus, if it was an old-shape TDI-130 quattro I wouldn't be that upset, 6-cog box/TCS and 4wd.. allied to diesel torque means they boogie.. I know I was trying to get one as a co car a while back, I even got TCS to flash in first 3 gears when racing a Supra bi-turbo on the test drive... Almost had him too... but it was damp...

IIRC Thy were all scrappers... A lot of the cars had Huge holes in them... and most were late 70's which were worth nada back then... Stu Yeah Bernie's car was an absolute stopper.. we even managed to get him to "Debut" it at a club night... I'd also forgotton that Michael Leche's "Homer" was orginally two colours, until an unfortunate garage accident, and Michael only had the peach/beige left so it went to one colour (and was much better IMHO). Yup it's a Valet switch, Allows you to change the alarm settings whilst it's in a garage for example, the mashing of it maybe why it's playing up with you inside.. Download the Clifford manual, but also find your nearest "Authorised" Clifford dealer (as opposed to a mobile fitter type jobbie) as they are normally pretty helpful, IIRC they'll also be able to access the Alarm code for you, as well as adjust the sensitivty of the microwave sensor's "Bubble" round the car.... For the interior, see if you can borrow a VAX, they have small upholstry heads and are ideal for this type of thing... Just try and wait for a sunny day to do it! It'll clean it up a treat! A to the running, I take it apart from the air filter you're going to stick new plugs, new fuel filter and fresh fuel in there...Gas goes off after six months or so.. if it's been sitting for a long time you may want to drain the tank before adding new fuel filters.... Also replace all the stupid service parts such as Plug leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm.. can help in chasing problems down if you know they're all good.

Have a check on the earths too... Maybe that with the respray you might need to clean some paint away to get a decent earth again?

Rant on!! Ok sent off my V5 2 months ago to DVLA to get an address change... since then have rung them plenty to find out what's happening.. First few time was told "We have a backlog due to new regs but will be dealing with it as soon as possible" After end March when my tax ran out I was told "still have backlog but you will have it in 2 weeks, no problem driving it till then. We’ll put a note on your file"... Since then they don't seem to be able to find my paperwork and the only way I can get Tax now is to take time off work and go to my local DVLA office and fill in all the paperwork there! Feckless buggers... Good job I have the Cabby to fall back on as my "daily" car, only problem is I've already used up 1/3 of the allocated mileages on the classic policy on that.... Rant over...
