C0ck C0ck c0ock! Missed the best race TWICE! First time under a scrapper Rado trying to remove rear subframe, and second time driving to the Bloody Airport! IAny-one know if it's repeated on ITV2/3 or on web-player?

17 inch rims and lowering - will it mess up the handling?

Yep Get Tramlining with my Yoko Prada-2's... Leonard, are you on Px2 or PX4's? Interesting to find if the 4's tramline badly as well. I can actually let the car drive itself on the inside lane of the M25 in places! Back to the original Q my 16v is 60mm down on unknown springs and stock shocks (but I actually have a KW box that was delivered this morning sat behind me! :) Cheers Darren!) and on 17 LM Reps 7.5 wide 35 off set and 205/40/17's. Ride comfort's not as bad as I thought it would but is more "Crashy" over some of the Bad E-London roads, hence the upgrade to KW-1's as the lower sidewall's shown up the deficits in the suspension package! Having the Coiles throws up a new Q which is what do you consider the optimum ride height? -
Looked good on the CH's last night Zak! Sorry didn't have time to say hi, too much running about as usual!

Right sensor unplugged as was doing it again.. Will this affect the VAG-COM codes?
-
Think All I'll do is unplug a sensor for the moment and then have a good look at the cages at the weekend... Anyone confirm if VR and Late 16v cages/sensors differ?
-
Cheers Mic, nope just the fronts and the cage seemed to be still located when the discs went on! Will have a look at the weekend provided it's warm enough for me not to stick to the floor!

Vortech charged VR or R32 engine conversion??

Erm do I mention the R36 then? -
Cheers S/C ABS ecu's in n/s footwell yes? Water ingress might make sense as noticed if I park on drive with car facing uphill get slight dampness on carpet there, thought that was probably down to leaky foliage seal, and didn't think about the ECU! :brickwall:

Is there any way of temporarily disconnecting the ABS control unit until I get this fixed? ABS isn't too much of an issues as all my previous cars haven't had it... Also are the ABS rings (Rotors) and sensors on a VR the same as a late 16v?
-
Wall test is how I've been setting lights up from my air-cooled days (one car was too low to use a beam checker and MOT station did the same as below!) Basically flat surface with wall and 25ft plus car space. Park against wall, mark brightest point of beam on wall with X of tape, push car back 25ft, and then adjust lights to bring bright spots back to the X's... go back and forward couple times to make sure all is ok. I did this pre-MOT with the Corrado, and it passed.. as long as your reflectors are ok it should work, or at least get it close enough to be a couple seconds work when it's on the beam adjuster.

Just the ABS light coming on intermittantly, when it was off the ABS worked fine...

Get a good quailty set of Coilies and you shouldn't have any issues... mismatched springs and dampers will give all sorts of issues! Possibly what your issue is... If you feel the backs "twitchy" have you checked the rear beam bushes? Plus it means that you'll be able to set the car "Flat"... Weitec or KW-1's are a great starting point... Kev Runs KW's on the Turbot-nutta... plus lots of positive feedback means I'm heading down the KW route albeit the KW-1 as I don't trust myself to mess about with bounce and rebound settings!

Thing being this didn't happen when the rotor was bent, only happened since it was straightened...
-
Took the car out tonight after changing discs/pads at the weekend. Also while the discs were off we "adjusted" a kink in the N/S ABS "rotor" (almost touched the sensor) which seemed to cure my intermittant ABS fault. Problem is that the ABS pump seems to be firing even when my foot's not on the pedal, can be felt juddering when just touching the pedal, also when I am braking the pump kicks in as the car slows down to a stop causing the brakes to come on full... and jerking the car to a stop (like it thinks it's doing an emergancy stop from 5mph!) A bit stuck and don't have VAG-COM to try and diagnose it... Any ideas?
-
Or get some Decent Coil-overs and you can set the height to how you want it?
-
:tumbleweed: Reason for the lack of replies is there are much better looking lights than the "clear" ones which in most people's opinion look G-A-S-H! If you do look to get a/market lights be careful as the fit can range from OK to bleeding awful! My2p? All-Red or Smoke top/red...

Ok Possible Pearoast... http://www.autobild.de/mmg/mm_bildergalerie_759014.html I know whic one I'd have! :notworthy: Oh and look another !24v-in-a-coupe-conversion" How common.

Least it's from the same stable, and not a Zimmer 330d or similar! Hotrodding/tunintg is all about pushing the envelope. Nope, first question should be: Will there be more 24v/R32 Rados than VR's soon? Andy, by the time you get Bored Karl will have an R36 in there! -

Rados and home theatre! Wonderful! And decent heating no doubt as the winters in "Potato-land" get pretty chilly!
-
Am doing that just wanted to make sure there wasn't another way... Bit tough to avoid "stoppies" on the M25
-
OK we all know the VR's get the 312/280 upgrades... What "Commercially" available upgrades are about for us Valvers? I see the Cupra Disc and Boxster S caliper front is possible but what about the rear upgrades? Surely putting big calipers upfront either affects the Bias or the braking performance f-r? :confused4:

Willam, yuou have PM... Talk more on Saturday if you're coming?? -
Popular upgarde on MK1's was Rover Tomcat discs (4x100) and Volvo 340 Calipers (think they are 4-pot!) and all fit behind a 15! Problem with the RM's could be a lack of space behind the Bucket...
