Late R32 fueling question - Fuel return lines and FPR
quicky1980 replied to quicky1980's topic in Engine Bay
The connections that come with the fpr are naff, any idea where I can get some fuel connectors that thread into the fpr and have a simple fule line spout on the other end that allow the hose to be jubileed? -
Yeah can't wait, when I blipped the throttle I was impressed with the responce so must be much better on the road. Cheers, yeah am so happy. More relieved that anything else.

     She's alive     Just had her running, yipee. At first I had no power and couldn't figure out why, but after finding a loose feed wire she started. Sounded so great, esp with the silencers still off, set the girlfriends car alarm off  Now I can relax and know that all I need to do is tidy it all up and finish up the remaining jobs before I can go out in it. Got to sort out the fuel leaks too, but otherwise am so chuffed

right, all the wiring is pretty much in and hooked up. just need to plumb up the oil cooler, put coolant in, fill the PAS tank and I think im there enough to try to start up. If all starts well, I will then mount the pedal, get wheels to point in the same direction, fit the exhaust and sort the gear lever mechanism Im a little bit concerned with the fuel connections so may try and find some better version How do I know which lambda goes to the brown plug on the harness. Ive been told the clylinder numbers are 1 to 6 counted from left to right. And i've put the lambdas in to match but the plugs are just black.
-
Sure is, the pulley itself is aluminium too looks very nice. Kip, tried calling you today but the number I called didn't go through. any chance you could pass it on to me again? Loom finally arrived today so spent today fitting it through the bulkhead, what an ar5e of a job! :censored: done some tidying and little jobs. Might be ready to turn the key tomorrow, feeling a bit apprehensive about it all lol
-
Cheers Right, engine sitting nicely on its new front mount and it means I can still use the standard water/oil cooler  Only problem I now face is that the front subframe fouls on the power steering pipe that connects to the pump. No idea what to do, dont want to bend the pipe as it may snap, dont want to cut the nicely powder coated front subframe. ar5e! Here's a picture with the pipe disconnected. Bought a load of new parts from tps inc new bolts for the front hubs and new lambdas which werent cheap! It's great to see the car back on all four wheels again

all the above and the magical rear spoiler, love the looks it gets.
-
I will be more so when it's all in and running

I have two of the items you need , £20 inc delivery (£25 including the short pipes attached)
-
Right, taking a little bit longer than I had hoped. Probably a day or so behind, but that's more to do with the loom being late turning up. Here is the promised picture of the engine in situ. I'm a little bit unsure how to solve the following problem. Do I plug up one of the block spigot connections and connect the remaining one to the oil cooler and the crack pipe spigot to the other end of the oil cooler? If so which block spigot needs plugging up. I want to make sure that I don't plug up something important you can also just about see the confusion I'm having with reconnecting the egr and variable valve control valve back up. If any one has a schematic on how it should be, please pass it on...ta. Oh and where the fuel lines run, I have a third pipe. I presume its going to the fuel tank but Im not sure what it does or what I should do with it. It was connected up to a green valve thingy?!?

cleaned up the engine bay and painted it all satin black. Made it look alot smarter. Had some mates come round to slip the new engine in. Decided to go with the standard cooler and not use the mocal air cooler. So will fab up a new bracket, will take notes for future conversion if anyone needs one making up. Loom should be delivered tomorrow, which is about time really! :censored: Damn parcel force!
-
very nice body work. look forward to seeing it all put back together
-
right, all out, just needs a good clean in the engine bay and will then fit the rebuilt subframes. Massive thanks to my lovely girlfriend in giving me a hand moving the engine.
-
you seem to have the list right. as long as you get everything you think you need you should be fine. Better off getting too much than not enough right? Maybe worth getting the brakes?? Ive seen the r32 cooler being used with a custom bracket, but you could fit a mocal and use the vr's front bracket
-
Ok will see how it goes. Well, I've started to take the old vr out this morning. Now at the point of bring the engine hoist out and lifting her out. Just gonna grab a tea and then get back to it

No worries found it 1K2721187 wont this make the pedal stick too high up?
-
fixtures? Any pics or part numbers?

Speed sensor and oil temp are as they were originally, just spliced into the new loom, for the coolant you need to put in the extra (grey) switch into the blanking hole on the thermostat housing, this is used for the ECU. Surely Mark is doing all that though? Gearbox looks good mate, they are a pig to clean!! I ended up getting mine blasted to get all the old paint off. Mark is doing the wiring but not sure exactly how much of it will simply plug to the corrado looms/sensors. Your not wrong, spent ages cleaning it and would have blasted it but running out of time. Plus will be going awd in the future so it wont be a permanent fixture. The OEM stubby aerial and 2nd hand 312mm brakes arrived today. So fitted the aerial to the car straight away, no pics yet sorry but I think it makes the car look a bit sleeker. I then removed the disks, pads and carriers off the hub. Will get the carriers onto the current setup on my car and sell on the 288mm's. So hopefully I will have some brake performance to match the engine performance. Unfortunately the loom from SWICT didn't turn up today even though parcel force gaurenteed Mark and I it would be here :mad2: but I've decided to go ahead with the conversion this weekend any way. only things missing are the loom and lambda probes. I've posted a question up on the deffinative guide but no answers there. So, does anyone know how best to fit the floor mounted acc' pedal? Does it need modding/trimming?
-
did you manage to get all the wiring a gear from the 3.2 donor? It's a pain in the ar5e to track everything down
-
just ordered some plugs, just hope they are the right ones. whats the best method in fitting the floor mounted r32 pedal? Does it need modifying?
-
are the plugs the same though? just want to make sure because I think these are special order and therefore non returnable from VAG
-
they can do if they are a dual mass version. however they need to be low mileage due to them becoming fragile in their old age. Any one know if the lambda probe (pre cat) are all the same across mk4 and mk5 platforms. I'm in a bit of a predicament, I'm using audi 3.2 bdb 2004 engine with an eos version of similar age. now I don't know what part number i need when ordering the probes. if the plugs are all the same then maybe i can get any probe from any 3.2 engine?? help please
-
should be fine as long as the wiring is made to suite and the functions in the ecu are deleted. Have a word with Mark in SWICT, he should be able to confirm. I think mine was a DSG, will soon know if it will start lol

Been a good day today, managed to buy some 312 brakes off ebay so should have some better stopping power compared to the current 288mm's. Took the old exhaust off and fitted the new one. Interesting enough the gasket should some wierd gas routing. I guess this is for the EGR flow? Ne dubsprt manifold is on and looks sweet. The aux belt i got is too short so will have to find a slightly longer one. re-routed the wiring to how is should be and now the engine looks like what it should.

I think I should now have all the parts to do the conversion. So my aim is to start in on the easter weekend. Im probly not much use but if you need a hand feel free to give me a shout and ill help if im available :D cool cheers Chris, always need a spare pare of hands. Today I spent cleaning and repainting the gearbox, took a bit of time but the end result was worth it. The hardest thing of the day was taking the old road ends, they were a git to get off even when ground, heated and hammered! But now they are off I can now fit the new boots once they arrive. Slotted the box onto the engine, bit fiddly but got there in the end.
