looks very nice mate, you drive to work as Ive never seen you around? Will have to try and pop by into TCH and find you to say hi -
Maybe Quicky1980 think hes from round that way?? yup was me, I was a little stressed out as I need to get to TPS and back to work in time for a meeting. will have to catch up with you some time soon muppetlab
-
are you sure?? mine have a 35et standard wow really? Ive always known them to be et 60
-
thanks Jack, they arent new and didnt come with the standard adaptors. I did just buy some rh spacer, unfortunately now after reading your info I think i may have the wrong spec. have ordered 20mm and 30mm spacer making et 40 and et 30. will just suck it and see when they turn up. My arches are rolled so may help. plus im still on 16v rear cross member which is narrower than the vr6 version so may have some slight differences to you. Must say your wheels look great against the blue. I have decided after stripping the paint off one ready for polishing to go colour coded with maybe some gold plated bolts. keeping the polished rims obv what tyre width are you using?
-
hmm, interesting. didnt realise the 24v had the same connections. I didn't have one on the engine to compare. The benefit of the 24v pas is that its newer and maybe quieter?
-
it's moments like this i realise how bad this "definitive guide" is! I must get my ar%e into gear and do a write up of parts ive used and how to put it all together. However, by the time I do, the r36 will be the engine of choice.
-
I dont have etka here at work, but I can check the part number when I get home. I ordered a 4motion pulley and used the 12V PAS pump. The pulley is a nice bit of aluminium so may give a the engine a tiny bit less inertia to fight with.
-
thanks, im sure i tried a 9mm and 10mm socket but they didnt fit well and did want to risk damaging the chrome bolts. will look again later
-
Will keep him in mind if i get bored of refurbing the ZW1's. Just checked my front wheel and I seem to have roughly 15mm clearance from rim and strut. Im on coilovers so I may have more clearance? I will have a think about it and figure out what adaptors to go for. Had a new part arrive today, been on the look out for one for ages and finally got one........OE centre console gauge. Will get it wired up soon but looks great in the car!

Dont know if it helps mate, but mine are 17x7.5 ET30 and i have an easy cm room to spare in the arches. I would have thought ET40 8 inch would fit ok but you may have to roll the arches. Cool, that does help. Currently I'm running 17x7.5 ET35 wheels all round. Lowered roughly 50mm?? Hard to tell but I have arches rolled anyway and all clear pretty well. Front (vr6 hubs/wishbones without spacers) Rear 16v rear cross member with 20mm spacers making ET15 if I understand correctly. I'm going to get some 20mm spacers and have my fingers crossed. Yeah, I love the look of these wheels, yours are the rarer 4 stud versions mine are 5x100. I was going to refurb them myself but depends who did yours and how much for. Did they do the centres too?
-
OMG, cant been I was spotted soooo long ago and never checked this forum earlier. Will keep a closer eye on this post from now one.
-
Oh no! Really? Whats the best setup then?
-
so you dont think et40 is best? Ive seen/heard most use this.
-
ET22! thats pretty low, this would mean you pushed the wheels out right? Im trying to get close to the dampers and go wider. I hope thats sarcasm. Otherwise, OMG! :cuckoo: Dont think I will have these wheels done by GTi Inters but I will give it a shot. The bbs lm's will have to do for dc10. Are these really that heavy? They seem light to me but I haven't had much experience with wheels. I was hoping they would weigh less than the lm reps, but now looks unlikely :confused4:

I did order 8" (marked 8J) but wasn't sure if the rims were swapped over for larger versions. They were described as 3 piece on ebay, but after some reading and research I couldnt find any 3 piece versions of these which matches your note. I was just hoping mine were special lol I reckon 20mm adapators will get the inner edge of these wheels as close as possible to the suspension strut without causing problems. What do you reckon? I want to tuck in as much as possible so that I can change the lips to wider ones. Am thinking of going 8.5" all round or 8.5" front and 9" rear.

got some rear wheel axles through ebay today, unfortunately they seem to be non abs versions :censored: not sure waht to do with them. either sell on or machine up  anyway, wheels turned up today and I was disappointed. I won them on ebay Germany and were described as 3 piece, used with tyres. But I go 2 piece, tyre less and a deep kerb mark. not pleased. Admittedly the tyres were said to be near worn but would have used them for track days and will refurb all four wheels anyway but this isnt the point. Seems like ebay sellers are as varied as the uk ones. some are great, some are poo! They did look terrible when I got them, but a quick clean brought them up a bit. still lots of work to go into these. Are these RH ZW1's and are they 7" or 8" wide?? What are these worth normally and in restored condition? I just hope I got a good deal and didnt get caught up in the moment. After a quick clean

you have my mobile number if you wanna discuss this, but the wiring will be made ready to allow for the oil temp/pressure sensors to work. so take these off the vr6. 4motion golfs have the parts you need. check out my build thread. it should have part numbers needed. I will get round to doing the r32 build guide one day i promise

lovely pics, lovely car! -
Leonard, the choc chip muffing is yours! not sure if I told you before or your just a mind reader but Im impressed on how you knew :notworthy: . Yup 17" RH Cups, which are due to arrive soon I hope. Will be stripping them back to allow for a full refurb, not sure what colour to do the centre's yet though Today I finished welding all the unecessary holes on the vr6 front slam panel ready for the strip and rebuild. Hoping to get this and the wheels done before gti inters.

oh meant to say, the other day as I was walking into work after parking my car up. Guy from work said "your car is a thing of beauty", that guy has taste!
-
nope...try again
-
No one willing to guesse what wheels ive now got on their way? Little hint, the new wheels are real split rims  Anyhoo, got this little pipe to help fit the t-piece for the oil and temp gauge. only a few quid from a local specialist

Is it 02m manual and same as mk4 gearbox ?? I have the Mk4 gearbox, pretty much identical the the Mk5 version but mine has the speedo output. mk5's rely on abs sensors to judge speed iirc. see my link below for pics and price. As mentioned before, custom shafts, relocated mount and either off the shelf brakets or try and make your own. Relatively simple to fit, I know 'cus I was sooo close to fitting it to mine but just couldnt afford the custom shafts after fitting the new engine in.
