  1. where can I get the glass polish? Also I have a new strip on the drivers side (cost me about £30), i fitted new glass with no scratches at the same time. but new scratches have appeared, could it be something more besides the strip?
  2. What causes the side windows to get scratched when using them? Is there a way of fixing it? Ive seen a few corrados with the same problem
  3. Thats what I did, now they want proof of teh engine which has been installed
  4. Now I have my converted VR6 I thought I would be kind enough to let teh DVLA know that it is no longer a 16V. because I did the work myself the RAC or the AA need to carry out an inspection report. Great more money!! How do I go about this? Is there another way for me to get the DVLA papers up to date? thanks
  5. will have another look, couldnt see anything but like you said there must be a break somewhere. thanks
  6. my rear track is even less than standard due to the 16v rear beam and the vr6 front wishbones. I want to fit wider tyres, not so fussed on going larger diameter
  7. yes i have had the arches catch on my golf, was lowered and did have big guys in it. but still want to see what i can fit under my arches. im now thinkg 17x8" and 17x8.5" any one running this? I dont want to stretch the tyres and i dont like the look really
  8. think ill hold out and look around at ultimate dubs next month and see whats on sale there.
  9. just sometimes when i walk up to my car the rear wheels look to small in proportion to the car. I deffinately want to go wider.
  10. When I need to demist my boots glass all the elements besides 2 work. Ive visually inspected them and cant see any breaks and tried using a multimeter but because the elements are in paralled then I cant source the break. Any ideas on how i can track down the break, and then fix it? Or is it a case of new glass?
  11. The stupid mechanic has overfiled my oil in my vr, god knows how. should I drive the car any more untill its drained to the max mark or is it ok to drive carefully? its about 1cm above max.
  12. i think ill change the et using spacers, like I said the arches are already rolled (inners may touch but go no idea) Ill try and find someone with wheels that have similar spec and trial fit them to my car.
  13. doing some research ive come up with this, need some feedback 18"x8" et 30 for the front 18"x8.5" et 20 for the rear currently i have 17"x7"(i think) et 38, and this is what ive masured the clearance to be roughly front inner clearance on full lock is about 10mm and clearance to the arch is about 10-15mm (when pointing straight) rear clearance to the shock spring is about 5mm and to the arch is about 25-30mm anyone think this will work? is it safe too? thanks
  14. funny you say that about the wheels, planning on going for some different ones, same style bu wider. also i have removed the spoiler from the car and i got bored of the look
  15. alos I quite like a few bmw wheels but unsure whats involved in fitting them due to the different offset and pdc.
  16. Finally got the r in, took alot longer than planed but here it is. Still needs some tweaking but I use it daily so happy for now. next to do, change the cv's/gearbox and steering rack (all went in one go lol!!)
  17. I want to change my wheels on my vr. I have a wide track front end and narrow rear beam. Im using 4stud 16v pdc hubs at the moment but can easily convert to 5 stud vr pdc hubs. Arches have already been rolled and the car is on coilovers Currently on BK299 17" wheels which fit well and dont rub at all even on full lock, the back tyes is very close to the spring though I want the largest width wheels I can fit to the front and rear and also want to go larger diameter, I think 18" is about big enough. What I need to figure out is what ET the wheels need to be to make them fit well. Like I said I have naarow rear beam fitted to the rear of the car so I would geuse I could change the ET of the wheel to bring them further out towards the arch and therefore go for wider wheels? basically i need an explanaition of offsets and some pictures of peoples cars with large wide tyres and details of the best et and size combo. thanks
  18. just an update, done the conversion, took alot longer than hoped but shes runing and used daily :) love it
  19. its a constant clonking/clicking/tapping (hard to explain) but its always there, on acc/brake cornering/straights oh well guesse ill get greesed up and find out. thanks
  20. Im using VR wide track wishbones, vr uprights with 16v hubs pressed into them. I will change the driveshafts, but wanted to make sure that this arrangement wasnt causing the noise. tracked it down to either knackered cv joints (even though they arent htat old) or the clutch release bearing is presing against the clutch springs (not that bad as i ned to change the gearbox and clutch soon anyway. so...vr6 wishbones, vr6 inner cv's, vr6 driveshaft, 2.0 16v (late) outer cv's, 16v hubs, vr6 hub carriers...is this ok for a vr6 with 4 stud wheels (long reason why i done it this way)
  21. well never seen one like that. It does look like someone made it using engineering tools, not sure why they would do that tbh. Any stamp markings on it? If its been fine before then should be ok for refitting??
  22. i had the same problem on a golf gti 16v. turned out to be the pump in the tank. funny thing was, if you hit the fuel tank with your palm hard it sorted it for a short time then end up bunny hopping again. think they cost about £30 to buy and dead easy to change hope it helps
  23. can anyone verify that 16v cv's can be used on vr6 shafts. ie are teh shaft lengths the same on both models?
  24. could be a few things. check the brakes, most likely the rears have seized. if the brakes are ok, i would check the fuel delivery is good (ie is the fuel pump working fully).
