Hiya Gordy... I didn't realise you were a member here... I'm Ian who used to have the MKI golf 16V up at the Hull CGTI meetings around 1997... 8) Is this your old Oak green one that you had back there, or have you based this on a different car? 8)

these guys are really good... I've heard about them a couple of times in the past and they've got an excellent reputation... The heads that Daz's supplying will be excellent if they're coming via CNCHeads... 8)

AFAIK, the airbox is the same unless you have air-con... it should just be a case of swapping the black plastic bit of the center console, but then you'd also have to swap to early switches and and and... :| With a bit of plastic welding and cutting, I'm sure it's possible... 8)

How do I work out what Jet size to use in my Water Injection
Henny replied to Blue_Joe's topic in Engine Bay
sorry, easy target... ;) You're aiming to get between 10 and 15% water to fuel ratio (mild to wild) at WOT... Work out what flow rate your fuel injectors are at max flow, work out what that is per hour, divide that by 100 and multiply by between 10 and 15 to get what your injector size should be... 8) -

I've got 2 G60s... J-Dub's got OVER 250K MILES on her clock (well, under her belt, she's been clocked at some point so the clock doesn't reflect the real milage... ) on the original engine... H-YYU has 160K MILES on her clock (accurate!) on the original engine... I've since swapped out this engine and plonked in my 1940cc lump, but there was nothing wrong with the engine which was in there, I just wanted my nutter engine in her! The original engine started first turn every time and suffered through me putting 350miles a week on her for 6 months with only servicing and a set of brake pads needed during that time... 8) G60 engines are strong as an ox... the only weak point is the supercharger IF it's not serviced and looked after properly... If it IS serviced properly and well looked after, then it'll last and last and last and last and.... (you get the idea!)

I'll lock this seeing as it's discussed in depth in this thread... 8)

belt slippage on a G60 starts almost as soon as you put your foot down suddenly in just about all G60s I've ever seen... The belt/Supercharger usually catch up pretty soon after though and it's then only when you get up to the high end of the revs with a small pulley that you kinda top out of friction on the pulley and you get more slippage giving you a kind of power plateau... The toothed pulley system makes one hell of a difference to the power delivery as there's no way that the belt can slip even slightly... 8) I've seen around 21psi on my G60 when I was at Bruntingthorpe... :|

FPR = Fuel pressure regulator. If you look in your engine bay towards the back, there's a thin vacuum pipe that comes off the front left face of the inlet manifold which bends down and connects onto a round block which is attached to the end of the fuel rail. On the bottom of this block is a fuel pipe which runs over to the rear left of the engine bay... this block is your FPR. Your fuel pump runs at around 4.5bar (IIRC), the FPR simply is a diaphram which allows any pressure over it's rating (in your case 3bar) to return to the fuel tank along the fuel line connected to the bottom of it. Which SNS chip did you buy, and was it new? The new SNS chips are designed to use the standard FPR, the older ones tend to use the 3.5bar one... sticking a 4bar on it will just screw up how your engine runs... Call Bilal (number on http://www.snstuning.co.uk ) with the number printed on the chip and ask him which FPR should be used with it, he'll be able to tell you the spec and setup that the chip has a map for so that you can set your car up properly... 8)

I still reckon that a new VAG G60 head gasket and a full engine setup/timing session will sort all of your problems Potato... 8) I don't rate copper head gaskets myself for use on G60s as they just don't seem to seal properly from what I've heard... :| -
Holy thread ressurections! There's nearly 3 years between 16VG60 and Trakx's posts!

it's normally a spray to protect the threads on the coilovers so that they don't seize up due to road gunk OR a lubricant to spray on the damper rods before first use... spray a little onto a rag and see if it's like a spray oil (wd40 etc) or wax... 8)

Corrado Spotting! Was it you? [Archive November 05]
Henny replied to Dub_nut_g60's topic in General Car Chat
2 Corrados up at Gilbert Lawton in old Trafford yesterday.... A Blue L plate VR6 and a red one which the parts guy described as being VERY tidy... I didn't see much of the red one 'cos it was raining and I was getting wet! Anyone here? -
Looks good to me too... no excessive wear to the cam lobes visible and it's all nice and clean with no sludge in there... 8) The plastic bit on the right of the rocker cover (as you look from the front of the car) which has a pipe going to the boost return pipe is the oil breather pipe... you're safe to clean this through as long as you make sure it's clear of any washing up liquid and is dry before re-fitting it... on early cars this is a round unit with one screw holding it onto the rocker cover, on later ones it's a square block with 2 screws... 8)

nice.... 8)

Someone over on Dubforce has just had one made... looks like a VERY nice bit of kit... The Golf one should fit the Corrado, but I'd get the dimensions off 'em to make sure first... 8)

if you're running that lean that it gets as hot as you say, it sounds to me like a failing fuel pump... Get the fuel pressure tested... -
I'm running a GSF one on my G60 and it's not bad at all... only problem is that you still need to go to the dealer to get the 90degree bend which the top hose connects to as neither GSF or ECP do 'em... Next time I may well get either a custom one made, or get a genuine one from VW or GPC... 8)
