I've got one running and 3/4 of another one... Next year I should get them back up to being 2 complete corrados again... and hopefully I won't still have the 2 golfs as well...

Woah, man... Glad to hear you're ok matey... sad to see a nice motor smashed up, but glad that it did it's job in protecting you... 8)
-
Good luck with whatever car you get next and with every thing else going on in your life... 8) Hope you still hang around here... you've brought a welcome splash of (admittedly sometimes random) fun and laughter to the forum... 8) :notworthy:

g60griff, yup, PM replied to too... 8)

That's good to know seeing as I have 4 GSD3s on their way to me at the moment for H-YYU... 8) http://www.mytyres.co.uk strikes again... ;)

take off the wiper arm... turn it over and bend it at the hinge like if you were lifting the blade off the windscreen. Have a look inside the bottom of the arm and you'll see a lump on the mounting which hits the arm stopping it from springing back (normally towards the windscreen) after a certain distance... grind that down a bit and you'll allow the blade to be pulled a bit more than it currently is... This mod works on some cars, but has no effect on others... it's the spring that tends to go weak which is causing the problem of crap wipers on most corrados now... the only cure for which is new arms, be they lupo or standard, which will have fresh springs in them to increase the force put onto the arms and thus onto the windscreen by the blades... 8)

Keee-ryyyysssttt.... 175mph?!? Just think what it'd do if they put a standard front end back on it instead of all that mesh and angular plastic bodykit... :|
-
DutchVR6, you actually just beat me to it... 8) I'm pretty glad you did, otherwise Sam may have thought I was developing a thing about correcting him today... :|

it can also help if you add another washer below the nut that holds the wiper onto the shaft.... this pulls the arms down onto the spindle harder and stops 'em from slipping... ;)

just out of interest, have you ever had a leak down test done on this engine? sounds very much like the problem I have with my coolant system at the moment which is caused by a weaping headgasket... Open up the expansion tank and stick in an exhaust gas analyser to see if there's any hydrocarbons in the coolant system... if there is, then you've got a leaky headgasket which is pressurising the coolant system causing it to boil over/run too hot... :| -
YES. Head bolts are stretch bolts and should only be used once... they're only a quid each from GSF, so it's not worth the potential disasters that re-using bolts can cause for the sake of a tenner is it?

yup, it's a smaller bore, but internally the crank and con-rods are the same and externally all other ancilleries are the same... 8) Both PG and 1H blocks can be bored out to a max of 83mm to make it 1.9 or you can rebore the 1H to take the PG pistons, although you're not really going to notice much difference from the 20odd CCs that you'll gain doing that... My 1940cc engine's built around a 1H block due to my original PG block being dead... As Geo, says, it uses different head bolts (£8 each x10!) and a couple of the bolts which hold the gearbox are larger because the rallye had a syncro box and so needed more meat on the mounting bolts... If you're thinking of doing a swap, then using a rallye engine will be the same as using a Corrado G60 engine... the only difference will be a few wires around the gearbox area which connect up the reversing light switch to the gearbox ECU to disable the rear wheel drive when reversing... ;) AFAIK, the downpipe is the same...

Bugger off... This is only the 2nd head gasket I've blown on this engine... The first was due to a fault with the head, and this time it's down to a faulty head bolt... Admittedly, this is the 4th head gasket that'll be fitted to this engine in 2 years though...

Jim, that's the starting price for the S8 though, which means you get that engine, just not all the electric toys and extra gubbins... ;)

Cheers for clearing that up werkes... 8)

yup, also got a VR6 clutch in my 1940cc G60... 8)

LSD makes a REALLY good difference... I've got a quaife one in my G60 and it transformed cornering... 8)

steveo29, can't remember... it's 18 months since I last did it...

oh my.... where can I get £50k from... :| 8)

:iamwithstupid: Yup, with you there Phil... Not what I'd do to my own car, but nicely done and it does highlight the shape of the Corrado nicely I think... 8)

First one I saw in real life was a nugget yellow G60 in my home town in around '91... Was just blown away by the colour and the noise it made... It's probably the reason why I now own 2 G60s! I got a compliment from a guy in a new Aston Martin yesterday... "Great looking car mate, sounds awesome too..." 8)

Would that be one that made a flat bonnet look like a humped one? :|

It all depends on the spring and damping rates... the VR front suspension IS different from the 4 cylinder cars, maybe FK decided it was better to have a specific kit for VRs and another one for 4 cylinder cars... Who knows, without access to someone who works at FK in the R&D department, I doubt anyone will ever know... :? What I do know though is that I wouldn't be happy fitting a kit to my car which wasn't designed for it when there IS a kit designed specifically for it... :|
