Inner CVs were changed at the same time Kev. OK to re-lube them? (nice to speak to you again - we met at Stealth day - I was the welshie who brought his brother along) I dont remember the hum being as loud before - am I noticing more things as I get to know the VR better perhaps? Creaking when I pull off (but then Iprobably wouldn't hear it as I was driving along would I !) and not as noticable in the classic Welsh rainy weather conditions.

Here goes... When I turn the key of my VR6 to the "lights on the dashbosrd" position (ie NOT started the engine), there is a noticable "hum" from under the bonnet. It sounds from the passenger side of the car and seems to be coming from a large round plug with lots of electrical(?) wires coming from it. Also, I had the wishbones changed last MOT and they used to creak when I pulled off. When I took it back to the garage, they said it sometimes happens, lubed them for me and the sound went. It is back again now. Should I just lube them again? Any ideas anyone?

I recently did a Cardiff-London-Cardiff 300 mile round trip, didn't hold back much (but traffic did govern some of the journey) and 2/3 of the tank was used..that makes it roughly 30 mpg. (10 gallons to do 300 miles) (ish) I'd settle for that this time of year. PS. did they make different size fuel tanks? ...and what does VAG and VAGCOM stand for?

About 6 months ago, I had my local mechanic fit a door handle to the drivers' side of my VR6. He bought the handle from VW. The handle has just stopped working again and I assume that the "lug" has snapped as it did last time. Will this part have come with some kind of guarantee? Damned annoying, as I have been VERY careful with it, pulling straight out rather than up, whilst opening the door. What more can i do about this stupid problem?

I had my VR6 re-chip done at AMD.. My figures went from 190bhp to 200bhp.. However, I then switched to Optimax fuel and my figures at Stealth RR were my current 205bhp. That, to me, seems reasonable considering everything else is standard on the car. Would a Ramair filter make any difference?

-:UPDATE:- 1 side has been completed by my mechanic, claiming that it took him all day to extract the sheared bolt. He now want the car back for a whole day to do the other side - am I being ripped off here? Should I take th car elsewhere to have the other side done?

It is the front ones that have sheared and the "engineer" is coming out to the garage to try to remove them. I think only 1 has sheared ATM, but the mechanic has looked at the other one and reckons that that one will go too. Fingers crossed someone can help me out here :?

Any advice on how to get bolts that have sheared (the front wishbones) out, so the replacement can take place? Apparently, an engineer is coming out to look at it tomorrow - will he get them out do you think? Please help if you can offer assistance, Cheers, David
