  1. Must be the time of year! I had 2 pages of "you have failed your MOT because" stuff the other week! Hence the huge bill. She stops and goes round corners better though now! Today I fitted the BBS steering wheel I've had waiting for months.
  2. lol thought that might raise a few eyebrows! Seriously though, if you haven't got ABS then you can hide the lefthand x-over behind the kickpanel, where the ABS ecu lives. But as it's a VR we can forget about that. Might still be able to hide the r/h one in the r/h kickpanel though. you'll probably have to hide the l/h one in the dash, get all the under-dash trim off and somewhere should present itself. I fitted my tweets in the factory locations, popped the factory ones out of the dash and drilled a suitable hole in the plastic tweeter housing to take the tweeter mounts. Wiring wise, either run new cable and splice it into the car's loom near the head unit, which isn't too tricky, or use the stock wiring, but you'll have to remove the stock speaker connectors. I think the stock wiring runs to the tweeters first, then on to the door speakers, so you might need to re-route some of it. I decided it was simpler to run completely new cables, and used some spare hi-fi cable I had lying about.
  3. Hell yeah! Been stuck driving my mum's old pug 106 for the last 2 months!
  4. Picked it up from the garage! Paid the bill :pale:
  5. Are you running them off the head unit or off an amp? And do you have ABS?(no really it is relevant!)
  6. Damn that's clean! Welcome to the forum!
  7. JIMMI, is that definitely true about the VIC? I need one but have been putting it off because I haven't sorted my dents yet, but if you're right I can sort this out ASAP and stop worrying about it.
  8. I'll love mine again when I get it back - been in the garage since friday!
  9. This sounds like one side of the lead is phase reversed, i.e. the signal and ground are swapped over, so they partly cancel out (it's most noticable with low frequencies hence no bass).
  10. Tw@ts. This reminds me that a few months ago some fecker did me out of a tailgate I bought on ebay, after the auction finished I just paid with paypal as usual, didn't email the seller directly til a week or two later, and found some cheeky b@stard rang the seller after the auction finished, told them he'd won, paid by credit card and they sent it to a Damien Morris in Cornwall. Scumbag! Got my money back but still annoying.

    Passed

Central VW Audi in Ellesmere Port, got recommended by one of my sister's colleagues at Chester Audi - he sends anyone with an old audi there. Seem like decent guys, I think the guy who asked about the charger said he had a mk2 g60 himself.
  13. Aftermarket door pods are definitely the way forward, I haven't got some yet, but will eventually, as the stock pods do hold my comps no favours. I wouldn't use any of the stock speaker wiring, running something decent isn't hard. Get components, put the mid/bass drivers in the pods, put the tweeters in the dash (you can remove the stock tweeters from their plastic housing and drill it to take the component tweet) and hide the crossovers somewhere. I put mine inside the kickpanels, but I think if you've got ABS at least one of these spaces contains the ABS ECU, so you might have to hide them in the dash somewhere. The corrado dash is fairly roomy for hiding ice/alarm/etc. gubbins. Just watch out for the glovebox being a pain to remove!

    Passed

Failed mine last week, needs most of the suspension bushes, brake hoses and an exhaust :( ...but have already sourced a stainless zorst, and found a decent garage - they asked if I wanted powerflex bushes before I could suggest it! Also scored points for 1st question being "has it had the charger serviced?" and knowing who Pitstop were when I told them! 8) They also found while doing the service my PAS pump was on the verge of falling off! :shocked!: Guess that explains why the power steering wasn't working properly  Wish me luck for the re-test!
  15. Don't know for certain, but at that price i'll make it fit! (or sell that hose to a rallye owner and keep looking!)
  16. I thought that one was the last hose before the throttle body? Anyhoo I found the samco kit for £70 on ebay so went for that.
  17. That's what I was thinking, but is the u-bend to i/c one the right diameter at the i/c end?
  18. Ta, at that price I'll probably go for the bar-tek one.
  19. So...I've got a golf g60 i/c (the big one that isn't the rallye one) and all the pipework from i/c to t/b, and I just won a rallye u-bend on the 'bay, but I still need the hose from the u-bend to the i/c. So far the options seem to be: OEM part if I can find one, or Bar-tek silicone one, or the Samco hose kit? Does anyone know if the samco u-bend to i/c hose is the right size for the non-rallye intercooler? As the rallye one has a larger inlet (doesn't it??) Also, how much of the flanges on the top of the cooler need shaving off? Right down to the top of the core or less? If anyone has any other handy hints (I have read as many of the other similar threads as I can find and I'm reasonably confident) then post 'em here! If I have presence of mind to take some photos when I do this, I'll try and do a "how to" later.

    Hello

Aqua blue is one of the nicest colours (he says with no bias whatsoever) :-P Welcome to the forum, nice to see a steady stream of new C owners, gets a bit scary when there seem to be so many being broken.

    Hello!

Welcome! I'm with brentacre too, £599 fully comp, 27 yrs old, 4 yrs no claims (tho' only 1 yrs full license!) and all mods covered, just a 210bhp limit on engine mods (should be enough for me!) Can't say what they're like dealing with a claim, but they were great sorting the policy out. Milage wise I think anything under 100k counts as "low"!! My G60's done 177 now but she's been fairly well looked after.
  22. Thanks also jonrb, that'll help when I get round to fitting my new wheel!
  23. mmm shiny! Sweet rims, liking the 7 slat grille too.
  24. Happy new year everyone! I must try and get to some meets/shows this year
  25. 177k and doing ok (or will when I get an MOT)
