  1. mmm recaros. Lovely car mate!
  2. So at the moment you're going to have the tweeters in the front, and the bass/mid drivers in the parcel shelf?! In that case I'd buy the second set of comps, have a front set (doors & dash) and a rear set (shelf). Having four bass/mids on the go, you might not feel the need for a sub. Definitely amp them though - I was suprised how much difference it makes. Not sure what amps to reccomend though, I'm buying old denons of ebay mostly, Genesis amps seem popular on here too, have a look on the Talk Audio forum, it's a fount of ICE info.
  3. To be honest, if I were in your position, I'd get a set of audioscape pods, flog the halfords rear shelf, bung the infinity's in the doors&dash positions, put a sub in the boot, and stick some cheap 6x4's in the OEM rear shelf support positions for when you have passengers. Amp the front components and sub, run the 6x4's of the HU and enjoy the tunes! Of course it's your car, so it's your choice! :-P If you do want to keep the infinity's in the shelf, and buy another set for the front, DO fit the tweeters as well, or it'll probably sound rather bass heavy at the front. Is anything currently running off separate amps, or is it just off the HU? Do you already have a sub?
  4. Has anyone ever done a widebody 'rado that looks any good?
  5. The grill and rear lights are hideous! looks like something off an MG!! Quite like the arches though...very of it's time I guess.
  6. Depends how much you want to spend, how quickly I guess. If you've got the money to do it all now, I'd get the audioscape pods, and the 16.5cm speakers. If you want to get new front speakers now, but don't want to/can't afford to spend the £180 on a set of audioscapes, I'd get the 5.25"ers and fit them in the stock pods. Then if you decide to go audioscape later, you can just order them cut for 5.25's. As for the tweeters, pop the OEM's out of the dash, remove the old tweets from the plastic circle then get a holesaw and drill out the old mount to whatever the diameter of your new tweeter mount is. Screw it all back together, slot it back in the dash and bob's your uncle. Just watch out that there's enough clearance under the factory grills - the tweeter position isn't symmetrical, and there seems to be a bit less space under the driver's side one. I had to form a bulge in my driver's side grill to accomodate my JBL's, but the speakers are completely OEM looking - even got the x-overs inside the kickpanel trims. Phew! that must be the longest post I've made so far! Must take some piccies of mine...
  7. I've got exactly the same thing, plus my glovebox light bulb has blown too, and I can't find the bulb I need! 12v 3w, v.small, neither Halfords or Maplins have 'em!
  8. Right, my G60's had the boost return deleted, but has no dinky filter on the ISV, where can I get one from? Also, how do you go about lubing the charger? (I'll be buying some of that PTFE spray mentioned above.)
  9. There's a stretch of the M62 between Warrington and Manchester that's so uneven that I did that too! And I'm not even 6ft!
  10. Continued fitting JBL components, took opportunity to strip out all old alarm wiring (except the "alarmed" LED for now!) in preparation for getting someone to fit one that works. Took fusebox&relays out in attempt to tidy up wiring behind (f*ckin' waste of time). Need a car sticker that says "built by Germans; rewired by monkeys"!!
  11. The fact that the bit of plastic trim on the handbrake handle keeps falling off! :bad-words:
  12. Today: Made a panel to mount my boost and oil temp gauges in the centre cubbyhole (I'll post a gallery thread when i get round to taking some piccies), and was well pleased with result. Then took passenger side dash apart, with lots of swearing, so I could remove my radio, swop the switched&permanent lives round and put it back, whilst being able to pull the cables out of the way of the stereo. Why is the glovebox so hard to remove!!!??? Next job is replace all the dead bulbs in the glovebox, ciggy lighter and heater controls!!
  13. Took dash apart, swore, moved boost & oil temp gauges to centre cubbyhole, swore a bit more, fixed front fogs (a deliberately cut wire on loom coming off switch wtf??! re-connected and lo&behold...) repaired butchered ISO connectors (with extra swearing) and fitted my nakamichi. Swore again when I discovered it's losing all settings when the ignition is off. Continued swearing due to discovery that neither door speaker seems to be working.
  14. Not had time yet! Today was first day off since picking her up, and she needs a wash&brush up first. Won replacement tailgate off ebay, £5 :shocked!: plus £25 shipping!
  15. First day off since collecting her, went to halfrauds and bought a shedload of cleaning stuff, then... Fixed my: Reversing lights Rear fogs Replaced: Radio aerial Spoiler Fuse (then disconnected spoiler to prevent recurrence) Unsuccessfully attempted to fix: Fuel filler lock Front fogs and won egay auction for a bentley workshop manual
  16. Looks superb! Front end looks mean as anything, liking the de-seamed rear panel.
