  1. Hi there, I'd like a loom for a 16v with fitting instructions - dont mind not having OEM connectors as long as it works fine without. Whats the difference in 2/3 relay ones? Thanks
  2. Thanks for the replies, i'll search for your posts on how to slacken the belt - Bought and fitted the assembly to the alternator - time will tell tomorrow if that was the problem when i fit it back on. Also spent £90 on service parts :brickwall:
  3. Its out, thanks - the brushes are 5.3mm, so could do with replacing. I'm popping to GSF now, hopfully it comes as one unit, since they say they have the voltage reg but no brushes. Can't see how you'd seperate them easily really. And another one, how do you take the tension out of the powersteering pump belt? Both that and the alternator one need renewing, so i'll get those while im down there. Cheers
  4. brilliant, thanks. Can i get them both at GSF and has anyone a diagram of where they are? I assume these parts will be the same from a KR 16v mk2 golf?
  5. Bought a 1.8 16v corrado yesterday and i'm hoping to get it MOT'd ASAP, it did a 40 mile trip back from where i bought it The voltage across the battery is 13.1-13.4V when running, the engine idles at 1100rpm when warm and nothing on and goes down depending what you have on, and the speed of the wipers, brightness of the lights, power of the fan etc changes depending what you have on that uses power. Obviously my first thought is the alternator as i understand that it should be 14.4V, the battery seems ok, it starts the car perfectly, Any thoughts?

    Lightening a corrado

Thanks for the link, 100kg would be a nice amount to use. Shame about the carbon bonnet cost and the apparent need for fixed seats. Maybe 50kg would be useful, but then i may not notice that. 100kg is a different ball game. Hmmmm.
  7. has anyone tried to lighten their corrado, specifically 16v? Is there any viable way to shed a resonable amount of weight, and if so, where did the best gains come from? Ideally getting it near mk2 golf figures would be good...
  8. Sounds to me like its the wrong order. You want the.... top purple cap > bearing > top mount > that flat nut (it sits ontop and doesn't go through the mount, therefore holding it on)... then on car, the metal cap and big nut. At least that's how i've put 2 sets on mine... hopefully i am not wrong...?
  9. come on dudes, i assume they fit?
  10. Is the above possible, i assume they'd fit straight on? Also will the spring rates be near enough or the same? Cheers
  11. cheers guys, I'll get on and buy some bulbs later today to see if it helps, and if not.. the loom will be on the way, not that i can really afford it lol... :mad2:
  12. Can anyone shed any light on why a headlight would be too dim? The bulb is there and works, but i can't see why it would be dim... Would a headlight jst get dimmer over time, so need replacement, or is there some other issue? Cheers
  13. How do you guys get around the fact that the top bolt which needs to be removed (due to the balljoint being "notched") not fitting past the caliper carrier bolt? Do you all remove the carrier bolt which seems impossible on all the cars i've tried, or some other way?
  14. Balls, so will new 6x4's distort aswell then? I don't want to go loud loud, just so i can turn it up and not hear the old rear speakers making a terrible noise. I'm not a huge bass fan, i just get around the noise of the duff speakers by turning the bass down, but i'd like to have more than i do... if that makes sense?
  15. YThanks mate, so they're 6x4's in the back parcel shelf supports, by the suspension turrets?
  16. I had read that, didn't even bother checking prices at gsf... Are all VAG ones black? The one i removed was white, so possibly a pattern part one that has failed...
  17. I'm clueless on "ice" so can anyone tell me what size and/or type of speaker i need for the rear parcel shelf support ones? Mine distort when you turn it up, so would like some others... something that will withstand being loud for a while.. Cheers
  18. Awesome, that worked! Starts straight up and i have a cd player again. Umm, yeah, if your problem is the same i'd get a switch...! Mine was £23 something in VW. What i did (it's the thing on the back of where the key sits, ignition barrel:) Drivers seat out Bottom steering cover thing off Get on the floor looking up at it and unplug the old one, With a very small cross head screwdirver locate and unscrew the small screw on the switch/barrel (if you look at the new switch you'll see where the screw will be...) It will now pull out. Fit it as you took it out... 8)
  19. well ive bought one... anyone else think it is before i take it out of the packaging...
  20. BOLLOCKS, pulled the CD player out today, checked it was plugged in right.... Then i went to the iginition switch and had a fiddle to see if it was loose etc. Now i have trouble starting the car, i have to press in on the key hard otherwise it will just turn over.... Is this the switch do you think?
  21. certainly seems the case then. where is the ignition live located? does it go to the ignition switch? whats it plugged into? thanks for your help....
  22. Hi guys, hopefully you can help out... My fan heater has stopped going up at the screen regardless of where you have the slider so i pulled the CD player out and had a fiiddle (didn't fix it mind :mad2: ) Put the CD player back in and now it doesn't work, it will let the CD come out with the eject button, but not power up. I checked the plugs at the back and they are clipped in right, i think ok. If you have the key in a position where it is pushed in further and stays there it will come on as normal, but unfortunately this is just before engine start, so not on whilst the engine is on. Any ideas? The key thing makes me think iginition switch or something... i'm sure one of you will... Cheers
  23. Im yet to check the iginition timing - i'm happy to give it a go though.. Could well be a problem though i suppose. Can somebody tell me where i aim the strobe, the aux pully on the crank has a timing notch, but doesn't seem to have anything to line up with (or put 'x'degrees before) if you know what i mean. Should there be a marker that i dont have...?
