  1. sounds like the same problem I have with my 2.0 16v, almost exactly in fact....starts fine, then runs three a few seconds later. If I flick the MFA to oil temp, as soon as it hits 80, the engine starts firing on all four cylinders again...Plus I also get the fuel smell, although this is simply the unburnt fuel from the misfiring cylinder. Makes me think that mine could be ecu related too, rather than with the fueling etc. will try the relay tonight. Let me know if you have any luck with yours!
  2. did you manage to sort out those water marks in your paint Jim?
  3. Design 90's do look cool, but possibly a bit old hat on a 'rado now? (prepares for barrage of abuse...) The splitties are different.
  4. Yeah, agree with that jim, everytime I go in to see vince, Its like " Hi james, want you want to do is...ring ring, hang on a minute mate..." I'll see if I can sneak down there at lunch time to catch Jon and co. Desparately need my rear bushes doing!!! Also, when I said they were locked up, I did go round at about 4.50, so probably pushing my luck anyway...!!
  5. that is bloody awesome!!!! fancy making me one????
  6. Ah, thats ok then....!
  7. Does anybody know whats up at Stealth Racing at the mo? Been trying to ring them all of last week, and went round this morning before work, and they are all shut up? Probably Vince and co on holiday, but just wondering if anyone else knew? I really hope they haven't closed for good, most of my familly gets their cars sorted there. Not to mention they are bloody good.....!
  8. every time I've been, yes! Yes please!
  9. Oh god jim, don't get me started on spirit vw in leamington....aaaaarrrrrgghhhhh!!! I used to use listers in stratford, as a mate of mine worked there, but I've moved to leamington now.
  10. yeah, IFAIK, the arrow mark is the one to use as TDC. what a pain in the arse having to redo it!

had mine done at stealth, because I'm a lazy bugger. i'll dig out the receipt tonight and tell you how much£... Its actually a pretty easy job to do though, I think there might be something about it in the knowledge base, or try a search. I'd love to tell you about how it made the engine perform better, but mine is running like a pile of arse.

had a go in one on a driving day at goodwood. I thought it was a barrel of laughs, just enough grunt, and suprisingly good traction for a fwd car........not bad brakes either!
  13. yep, looks awesome! shame about fuel spillage tho!
  14. yeah, looks really nice! Welcome aboard! And another 16v too!
  15. yep, got to agree, sounded like an f16 taking off....brilliant! I Was suprised how quite the other valvers were compared to mine today!
  16. sorry, here's the pics.....
  17. Took some half decent pics the other night, after a serious polishing session! I'm quite chuffed with the results. Just need some nice rims now! Any suggestions on rim choice? I was swaying towards either bbs splits (if it's a good month.....), or ronal LS if I'm hard up!
  18. I used to work for a historic rally team, and had to look after various group b rally cars in a 'museum', including a ford rs 200, audi sport quattro s1 and lancier 037. I was only 18 at the time, and got to warm them all up once a week, I was in heaven...!
  19. Just got my nice red cam cover, and 50mm manifold on, any ideas about how else to tidy up the engine bay? I think alternator is next to be polished or painted.
  20. my 2.0 16v does this too......really annoying! although its going in for a sesh on the rr at stealth tmrw, so this might iron out/identify any probs.
  21. saw a nice red (poss g60?) 'rado queing on the A46 nr longbridege Island this morning.
  22. depends which engine! I'm having mine done at stealth soon on my 2.0 valver when kr cam goes in. I think vince said approx £80-90 for 16 new followers.
  23. I didn't realise they had transponders in, and nearly had a heart attack when VW in solihull quoted me approx £80 to re-code the new key. they said they need both keys and the car. £30 sounds better....!
  24. If they haven't changed the oil, It would be adviseable to Do it yourself. water (albeit a small ammount) may well have got into the oil and vica versa.
