From my experience you'll not regret buying a Mk2 golf gti. My girlfriend has an 8v which despite having a few things needing work and being far less refined than my corrado I love driving it. Yes its a world apart from the refinement and comfort of my corrado (heaters that work also help in this weather) but I love getting out in it and find it a lot easier to drive in the daily commute to work (and a lot more economical). Its a car I always wanted to own but never got round to owning until recently and now neither of us want to change it for something more modern.

Definately! - As it was my first track day in it I had an instructor come out with me for the first session and he commented on how good the brakes felt, even by the end of the session. He was also commented on how well the car pulled down the straights - well i did have to back off down the pit straight as i re-caught the Alpina B3 that i'd let through before the last corner 8) - so the car that VW built did well and the 'DG' refinements kept me grinning and on the black stuff all day :salute: 1 more pic from the day: was there by any chance a ford focus rs with black wheels and a red honda civic at this track day? if so how did they fair against you? Yep I think they were both there, the Civic wasn't on track at the same time as me but the Focus was out on my second session, and did overtake me, but then again most of them did :roll: This weekend I fiddled with the alarm and it's playing up :scratch:

Spotted two yesterday - a new record! Red one heading out of Worcester city centre towards Kidderminster Black or dark blue - can't remember now on Borbetts parking up in the car park under the viaduct - again in Worcester. Both looked very nice and shiny, so much so that i went back and cleaned mine, in the dark!

Spotted (very briefly as i wasn't really watching - i was browsing on here!) the back of a green 'L' reg on midlands today on their feature on the collapse of Wrekin construction. I think it was parked on the right leading up to their main gates.

Well I renewed for another year... wasn't as impressed this time round though, went from £347 to £374, surely thats the wrong way round... However last years premium was matched so although i've not made any savings i'm not any more out of pocket... Next year i'll start hunting a bit sooner though, i feel i haven't looked hard enough if i can't find it cheaper!

Woo Hoo - finally a spot!!! :clap: (i don't think Graham's spot of my car on his ramps at work counted :cuckoo: ) I spotted a green 'L' reg VR at the Hagley Shell garage last night - was filling up the bike about to wander over and chat and the guy decided there was too much of a queue and drove off before i had chance to say hi. Sounded nice though as he drove off 8) That'll be Chris he was on his way home after we'd done some work on his C :) Nice! Thought he might have come from yours shame he left before i had chance to accost him :wave:

Yeh, I noticed a considerable improvement with the 'DG' 'go faster' sticker correctly installed! Mind you, that might have had something to do with their work in returning it to running on 6 cylinders as opposed to the 4 that it was running on... :roll:

I've had a couple of good experiences with Kwik Fit First time they repaired a puncture for free even though i said there was no chance of them ever seeing the car again as we were only by chance on the opposite (wrong) side of Birmingham, so 'big up' the Erdington Kwik Fit! :clap: Second time was a few weeks ago when i was replacing my mate's Mk4 golf's door but found the spline tool i'd got was too long to fit. Popped into the local Oldbury Kwik Fit and they lent me the right sized tool which did the job perfectly and weren't really bothered that there wasn't much chance of returning it before they closed! So a bit 'whoop whoop' to those guys too! :clap: I'd also just like to point out that i am in no way affiliated to the Kwik Fit brand, although if any Kwik Fit employees fancy offering me a discount on new tyres in return for good press i'll say whatever they want :wave: :lol:

I'll third this, an excellent round up of their services although believe me, Graham was aiming a few choice words at your car's 'rusty nuts' at the weekend :lol: but eventually got them apart even whilst being interupted by me asking which end of the spanner was which :camp: . Thats a tidy replacement car you've got hold of there from what i saw of it!

Filled the car up earlier, went to pay and the guy on the till decided to hold up the queue of people waiting to pay while he chatted corrados and attempted to show me a clip of his mate's R32 at santa pod... I was impressed but his slow internet connection didn't do much for the other customer's satisfaction :nono:

Got a flash from someone heading up the worcester road from Hagley this evening. Not sure what 'rado you were in, I didn't really notice as I was too excited about having a spot for the first time in months! :grin: edit - girlfriend thinks it was green...

My car that is! :camp: Earlier I picked it up from DG Autotech where it had spent a few weeks in their care having most of the engine rebuilt (low compression in two cylinders along with a multitude of other faults), the brakes upgraded to 288dia, Weitek suspension, Vibra-technics engine mounts, DG Autotech Lazer cut fan brackets and fans... oh the list goes on but what I really want to say is WOW the transformation is unbelievable :clap: I was handed the keys by Graham when I arrived and invited to take it out for a test drive. Well, sitting here now I still can't believe how different the car feels. I knew the handling would be transformed but their set-up has given me the confidence to 'pootle' around corners like Dave does in his legendary turbo VR... well ok, my 'pootle' is a fair way off Dave's but you know what I mean :norty: As for the engine... I popped in from time to time to see how the rebuild was progressing and the time and effort put into the rebuild, not to mention Graham's unfathomable patience in removing every scratch from the damaged cylinders, really showed from the moment I pulled away. Obviously from running the first ever Corrado VR4 around for the past few months the improvement would be quite noticable, but I don't think i've driven a car that feels quite like this does now; the engine purrs, pulls beautifully, and from their tests is achieving over 40mpg on a motorway run! (My best on a motorway was 34mpg I think!). Not to mention my new shiny bits... but i'll let the photo's explain that one :luvlove: I feel for those people on here who've lost the love for their Corrado, i've never got bored, disheartened or frustrated with my car to the extent of wanting to sell it, and no matter what I look at with a view to replacing it nothing even comes close. Yes its old, and yes I have spent a lot of money on it, but I can't wait to get back in it again tomorrow, even if it is only to drive to work! So, whats left to say is a big, big thank you to you both Graham and Dave, you've done a top job :notworthy: Now i'm off to put the car, then me to bed and and dream of track days...

Oh no, thats a real shame Drew but good luck for your new project! I'm sure you've spent the asking price in elbow grease over the years to get that car to where it is now. Mind you, without yours to compare against mine won't seem quite so dirty now :lol:

Can anyone help? I'm in the process of putting a new drivers door on my mate's MK4 golf and I can't figure out how to remove the door handle! I've figured out how to disconnect everything else from the replacement door only I (and my dad) just can't see how the handle is released. I've had a bit of a search and am i right in thinking that removing the torx screw will release the handle? We did do this earlier but it didn't make any difference, although we weren't pulling on the handle at the same time, which is what was suggested. I can see that once the handle is removed then we can unscrew the backing plate, which means we can then swap the lock barrels over only we just can't get to that :censored: screw! Thankfully my mate is being very patient... but then again its his own fault for driving into a bollard!

Was at a wedding last saturday at Nailcote Hall near Coventry and spotted that the groom of the other wedding going on owned a red g-reg corrado. Was quite excited but didn't want to interrupt his day. However, if you're on here, congratulations! :clap: Waz

I spotted my Corrado on the Corrado Club 'Corrado Cam' yesterday and excitedly went straight to post my 'spotted' here and the works internet crashed :censored: Thankfully it was restored later so i could watch the deconstruction of my engine at 60 second intervals :tongue:

Spotted a dark blue (i think - i'm getting on and my memory is not so good a couple of days later) Corrado in Church Stretton at the weekend, parked up on the high street with a roof rack on. I quite liked the roof rack look, definately an easier way of carrying the bikes around than trying to pack them in the boot! :salute:

Cracking looking website guys, looks like lots of hard work and late nights have gone into that! Looking forward to leaving my car with you both and letting you create the monster it always wanted to be :roll:
