Cheers, i'll try some overnight soaking then some heavy hammer action as i've given up for the mo and am hoping my mechanic mate will be able to fit it in sometime. Will pop down to Chavfords in the morning and try and pick up a socket bit as i am fearing rounding off the bolt heads! Cheers, Waz

Bugger i'm just about to fit GSF ones that i've had waiting to go on for a few months now... never mind, 5k is better than leaving the old ones in there i suppose. Now if i could only get the bolts out that hold the carrier on i could change the discs! Anyone got any tips on how to do this? I've tried blow-torch, maybe try it for longer this time.

This is my new baby, passed my test in January and have been riding it non-stop ever since! Basically brought it to commute to work to give the corrado an easier life, however i think i've got the bug! New Fireblade next maybe... well, its the only other bike i know so far... the thermal fuse issue causes the fans to only work on speed 4 as the resistor pack and thermal fuse are bypassed on speed 4, if its not working on speed 1 it will be a switch or resistor pack issue. Yeeah it was only working on 4, now just 1st speed won't work, I'm assuming the resistor pack is the part of the blower motor where I changed the thermal fuse? Pretty sure its not the switch so may need to change the blower motor. Then again, may just leave as is.... :D Have you tried setting the switch at between fan speeds 1 and 2? Mine stopped working on fan speed 1, but when set between 1 and 2 it works (at speed 1), i'm guessing its just a little worn with age. Waz

Well you lot are a helpful cheery bunch aren't you?! Thankfully my friendly local mechanic has diagnosed a faulty MAF! So, cheers Graham, and thanks for looking at it at short notice. Anyone got a MAF they want to sell me? Or anyone know where i can get one cheap? Waz

Pulled out of my driveway this morning and the car hiccuped... oh well, not to worry, although it doesn't usually do that. A little further down the road it then lost power completely and was having difficulty ticking over. Although it didn't stall i couldn't get the revs up, and when i did, and let the clutch out it lost all power again. After a minute or so it then cleared and seemed to be back to normal, although i only carried on for under a mile before i left it at my parents house and picked up my bike. Anyone got any ideas??? Coilpack on its way out maybe? Its a '94 Vr6. Cheers Waz

Cheers mate, probably looking to do it early next year, maybe towards the end of Feb when I can use the bike a bit more and have the car off the road for a while. I think its burning a bit more oil and the tappets are sounding pretty rough now! Hopefully it'll last till then, otherwise you'll be getting a call a bit sooner! Look forward to seeing yours when its done Waz

Hello mate! When you've finished doing yours do you fancy doing mine? Although i'll have to pass on the charger, although i do fancy the sound of that!... Waz

I'm 28 and paying £450 for a '94 VR6 in West Mids with 3yrs no claims and no points. Had some crazy quotes through when i was renewing with most coming in around the £600 mark.

Guys, Just read through this thread, and would like to think you just got really unlucky with your car. Mine is from Volkscars and its been brilliant, can't fault it, nor can i fault their after-sales care and advice when i've asked for it. Its worth bearing in mind that these cars aren't new, and things do go wrong from time to time! Waz

Just thought i'd post a quick note on this thread... Without making his head too big to get through the door - this guy is very good, he's done quite a bit of work on my car since i've had it, all for a very good price, and done to a very high standard. Its nice to deal with someone honest and reliable! - highly recommended. Waz

Cheers Dave, Will be having a look at the ISV tomorrow so will have a look around at the other bits while i'm doing that. It only seems to do it after a long run though, but i'll see what a clean ISV does to it. Waz

Dave - i've got a similar problem which has only just started happening and only when the car is warm after long trips. The revs will either sit at just over 1000 or die completely. I cleaned out the MAF at the weekend and i'm sure I found some more power from it (which was nice!) but the problem persists. I'm going to have a go at cleaning the ISV this weekend and see what happens but could this be the same problem? It may be coincidence but the problem did start after I changed my air filter to a piper-cross foam panel filter, which after doing so the car died a few times over a few days but was then fine, until this... Any ideas? Cheers Waz

Yep, got my magnex last week, looks fantastic only haven't got round to fitting it yet. Hopefully will get round to it on thursday & hoping its as easy as it looks! By the way - Motorsportworld where i got mine from promised to refund the delivery cost as some compensation, hopefully they will! Waz

If you're thinking of getting a Magnex system - don't bother at the moment - i've been waiting for over two weeks for mine and getting a bit fed up now! Should arrive by tuesday... Has anyone else had any delivery problems? I've asked to have my delivery charge knocked off in compensation but I can't see them doing it really...

Help! I've got some very strange goings on with my electrics Firstly: After locking and leaving my car the interior light comes back on - it did this some time ago, then fixed itself - i'm not sure if the heavy rain we had round my way the other night has caused problems with contacts... Its got the Toad alarm fitted so not sure if its a fault with that? Does anyone have any ideas? Secondly - and this i'm going to be investigating this weekend: When i turn right my stereo turns off, when i turn left it sometimes comes back on again. I'm guessing the radio feed from the steering column is rubbing, has anyone else experienced this or got any ideas? Thanks, Waz

Hello! I'm getting a little more concerned about the amount of oil my VR6 is using. I get a small puff of blue smoke when i boot it, but this seems to be quite usual looking at other posts? But i seem to be re-filling the oil even every 300-500 miles sometimes! This can't be right?! I have also noticed a small trace of oil on the left hand side of the engine block, which seems to be coming from a circular seal in the block. This is only a trace and i'm not leaving any traces of oil on my driveway. The water levels are unchanged so think head gasket is ok, and i'm getting hold of a spark plug tool this weekend so i can take a look at the condition of the plugs. The VW specialist who sold me the car have said they'll take a look at it, but also suggested changing to a thicker oil - and non synthetic - i'm using 10-40 part synthetic GTX at the moment - they say they only use VW oil these days. I've also recently noticed that performance at lower revs is slightly down, the car isn't pulling as well as it used to, and the tappets are a little more noticable these days, or would it be the timing chains? Has anyone got any ideas or general oil use advice? Some time ago i did see some topics on the oiling up of cylinder No. 6? However i can't find it anymore. Please help - i'm looking to take the car down to Spain in September and need to fix this soon! Wazza '94 VR6

Hello, New to all this Corrado stuff - only just got one at the start of the year, been wanting one since i was 16 though! Brought a VR6 and its fantastic, can't fault it at all! However, How do i go about changing the spark plugs, i think the tool i've got will reach but is there a tool for removing the leads that i can get from somewhere? What plugs would people recommend? Can't believe the prices for NKG's! Other than that, cracking car - and now i can keep up with my mate's golf annie! Wazza
