The DVLA website says its an 1800, and is red so think its legit, although tax ran out last year. Mind you it doesn't look too molested so i think i'll try and get hold of it, just got to get it trailered home and explain to my parents why theres another rusty red car sitting on my driveway when there's already a rusty red car sitting on their driveway along with my car sitting in their garage at the moment until it gets its leaky thermostat replaced...

Just been offered this... not from the owner tho. It's been left on the driveway of a house my mates company let out and they need it moved. The owner after leaving the house hasn't made any attempt to get it removed so i've offered to have it, as long as i can get hold of the keys and the documents for it. So, hopefully, if they can get hold of him it'll be mine soon... Well, it won't be mine, it'll be the girlfriends for when she passes her test  My mate says it looks ok, but it has stood for a few months after the guy ran out of money, stopped paying his rent, then ran off. So, what does everyone think, a bargain? :norty: Or shall i run away? :nono:

Found it, cheers guys. Planning on taking a look at it tomorrow so the guide will come in handy for how to get to it

As the subject says, water leaking from somewhere but i can't quite work out where or what its coming from. From the picture, the water appears to be coming from behind the unit under the sensors that the pipe connects into from the rhs. What is this unit? and does it do? and is it likely to be this that has broken/cracked/leaked? and how expensive is it? Sorry for the pun but i'm in unfamiliar water here! Any advice appreciated!

Sounds like what mine was doing - and yes that PCV valve had split, glued it up and much better now. I still get a vague oil smell sometimes so I might have more leaks elsewhere...

Thought i'd put some pics up of my not-so-new-now bike. Have just about been riding for a year now and am on my second bike (first one is earlier on in this thread). Love the v-tech on the VFR and although the bike isn't anywhere near as much fun as the CBR, its a whole lot easier on the arse!

THE CORRADO FORUM INSURANCE SCHEME WITH CHRIS KNOTT
wazza replied to ChrisKnottIns's topic in Chris Knott Insurance
I have to eat my own words - Chris Knott did end up being the cheapest quote i managed to find, only by £2 but they did manage to bring down my excess down to a reasonable amount and were much more friendly and human on the phone than my previous insurers! So, semi-thumbs-up, although still could do with it being a bit cheaper! -
No worries mate, no rush, as long as you take me out for a spin when its done... and seeing as you're handy with a paint gun these days...
-
Mate, that looks incredible! :salute:

THE CORRADO FORUM INSURANCE SCHEME WITH CHRIS KNOTT

Oh dear, not looking very competitive for my renewal and my VR6 is standard... The search continues... -
Can you make mine look nice and shiny like yours?... Looks fantastic, can't wait to see it in one piece! :norty:

Cheers guys, i'm planning on having a poke around it this weekend. I remember the bonnet switch playing up a bit before, and it needed a bit of a clean, after which all seemed fine. I've tried testing the switch by pressing it fully down with the bonnet open but the alarm still beeps three times so more investigation is needed.

I've got a site in Cov at the moment so making regular trips there, although i've just been told off by the boss for using my own car / bike... I've got to use the company cars from now on.... but i don't want to drive a boring Laguna / V50 / C5 / Avensis.... they're all still pants compared to the Corrado!

Can anyone help me with this? I've done a few searches but had no luck; My Toad alarm (the orginal at a guess) intermittently fails to arm and bleeps three times indicating that there's a door open. I've checked the door and bonnet sensors but this makes no difference and i've not actually worked out how the boot sensor works, does it use the lock as the circuit? What i can't work out is why sometimes it arms fine, then the alarm will go off sometime afterwards? I'm going to check the circuits and earthing points but has anyone else had this problem or anything similar? I can't believe how frustrating it is having to lock my car using the key!
-
Does anyone know when they're due in the dealerships? I went down to my local one at the weekend to try and find out but as usual nobody seemed the slightest bit interested in talking to us so we gave up and walked out.

Brilliant (in a wrong kind of way)! Glad you do my car down at mine these days

Lovely! Wish my wheels were that clean!

I've also got this, but i've got to get rid of it if anyone wants it?! fastback1.jpg[/attachment:z2spwi52]

Any VR owners felt the need to get a 2nd car?
wazza replied to Veearrhsix's topic in General Car Chat
Yep I can, I brought a 1.6 '51 plate zetec brand new and it was quite nice, only after 18 months i got bored, sold it to my mum and bought a porsche 911 :D She's still got it now and although my parents are rubbish at looking after their cars and it's never been serviced since she's had it, it's still going strong and apart from a severe lack of power, it's still a great handling, economical car. -
Any VR owners felt the need to get a 2nd car?
wazza replied to Veearrhsix's topic in General Car Chat
I was using my VR for my daily 17 mile commute into Birmingham city centre every day, which was taking at best about an hour, and rarely averaging over 25mpg. I figured the best thing for me to do was to take a direct access bike test and get myself a tasty motorbike. Since January i've put about 3000 miles on the bike that would have otherwise been on the car, saved a small fortune in petrol and best of all i've been able to spend an extra half an hour in bed as my commute now only takes half an hour, regardless of the traffic! Highly recommended as the grin factor is equal to the 'rado posting.php?mode=reply&f=17&t=68761# :norty: Waz -
I had my car MOT'd and it passed! God knows how, but it did, and I just wanted to tell everyone! Whats even better is my mate's '52 plate Vectra failed to the tune of £900 last month. Ha! A well chuffed Waz

Now i thought grease was grease, but in the process of changing my discs and bearings my dad said we hadn't got enough grease left to do all four corners, and said i should find out what people recommend. I didn't know there was different grease for higher temperatures, so with this in mind, what should i be getting? Cheers, Waz

Blimey, that was a job and a half! Thank god for Irwin Grippers! Bit of a pain to get them to grip - i ended up using a G-clamp to squeeze them onto the bolt heads but after that it worked a treat! Waz

Its looking good mate, can't wait to see it finished!

I keep seeing good things written about these 'Irwin' bolt grippers, I think i'm going to have to get me a set! Cheers for the advice guys Waz
